Wow! I learned a great deal just from watching you tear down this set of carbs. My GS450 had been super hard to start and idle the last season I rode (2017). I left my bike in the shed for the past 2 years because identifying the problem was always too intimidating. Those days are over. I've just removed my carbs from the bike and will be carefully cleaning them thanks to this video. INSPIRING! (I'll be sure to share a short video of the corrected issue). BTW, I've already liked and subscribed 👍

Just bought an 87 GS 450L from a friend with 5000 miles but it doesnt run. The motor turns over and is getting spark so hopefully a good carb clean will get it running. Thanks for the vid yo!

thanks, pretty helpful. my needles were getting stuck in the seat, no fuel would flow into the bowls at all. I pulled it out and it had a rubber tip, i think the last guy put the wrong part in there. either way I got some new ones, fingers crossed

Thanks for the video bud Helps a lot I’ve taken many apart But it’s so much better to know what’s coming Like whether or not a spring is going to fly off into the abyss on when popping the top

So thanks for the good try on showing how to clean a carb.. now what did we learn about removing choke plunger? They dont just come out that easy do they..lol. hope I find a video on how to tune the throttle valves...
@boometssuck5 жыл бұрын
You need to remove the choke plunger housing to fully remove the choke plunger. There are 3 Phillips screws attaching the plunger housing to the carb body.

I have a 1980 Kawasaki kz440. These carbs looks really similar. Do you think the cleaning process would be similar? I haven't found anyone cleaning 440 carbs so I'm trying to do my best on this bike.

Good video. Where should the vent hoses be routed to if using an aftermarket manual petcock?

If the rubber diaphragm is torn, would that also cause it to leak fuel?
@MidNebraskaMotorsports2 ай бұрын
Nope, you likely have a bad needle jet or something holding the needle jet open. Thanks for watching and the comment. Let us know if you need anything. www.ebay.com/str/midnebraskamotorsports

I know this is extremely late, but do you know where the Air flow screw is on these carbs? The one that is hidden from manufacturer.

I’m fiddling a pair of these carbs and would like to see how to shim needle. Seems like it’s different from all the other carbs I have worked on regarding that area.

Got a quick question. What should I do if my throttle body is frozen meaning I can’t get the butterfly flaps to open. Got the bike as a project. Carbs r really clean otherwise just can’t get the throttle to move freely. Main reason I took it off in the first place

My ‘82 gs450 hesitates while accelerating at around 3500ish-5000ish rpms. I’ve cleaned the carbs, but it still hesitates. Maybe i didnt clean the jets good enough? What do you think it could be?
@SketchyJrod3 жыл бұрын
@@MidNebraskaMotorsports It was the jets lol. but i probably will still get ne spark plugs because the old ones did look pretty old.

Pulled mine out of a 85 gs450l and all the screws were beat. 😒 gotta find out how to get them out now replace the screws (easier out of the 2 for sure). 🤷🏽♂️

So you just take it apart and then put it back together? You don't dip it anything? I can't find the video I watched where the carbs were dipped in something. I thought it was this one so now I"m just sitting here with a fresh can of carb soaker and the carburetors looking like a nutcase ...
