In this video I go over how to use the tailor system in Star Trek Online. We look at costume unlocks from the reputation system, as well as costumes from the lobi store and phoenix boxes. There is a lot of armor costumes in STO that cost no real world money and look Awesome.

Space Barbie, the end game meta. I was playing back in the day when you had to pay ec to change your character's appearance. Was playing for two years before I learned how to change outfits on the fly. It would be nice if the pay for bridges added the functionality of a tailor, mail, bank access, and the exchange. Note that both of the academies also have tailors, but I never let anyone touch my character's hair except Mo'Neke.

get a tuffly freighter or the suliban cell ship, they have all these things on their bridges.. you can swap ships from the char menu outside of missions, anytime you want. at least mail, bank, exchange and i think there was a trader too.. no tailer sadly

To change outfit names: In the tailor pull up the Capt screen where it shows you all your saved outfits, the name is displayed below the preview tile. If you select the preview tile and then rename it will then show up under the new name both here and on the menu you use to change uniforms on the fly

There's a big button called "rename" there. Where you can "rename" your costumes.

Took me forever to figure out how to dress one of my Boffs in Lukari armor. I swore for months I didn't get the visual set when I got it from rep. Anyone having a hard time with it, start with the head, put the helmet on first. lol That makes the rest of the set visible in drop downs in the body section. Whoever thought that was a good idea should not be programming.

This is 1 area of the game that seriously needs some love. It needs QoL improvements as well as a complete overhaul of the color palette. t's an interesting system & is fairly extensive considering the age of the game but it needs major improvements due mostly to the major differences in colors when you try to match your top & bottom. Often times colors aren't available for 1 piece or the same color looks completely different on pants & top, sometimes with pieces from the same set. Nevertheless, none of that is your fault, it's a developer problem. So, nice vid, saw some pieces I don't have that I'm gonna look for.

The Color pallets are really confusing. On some outfits you can choose yellow and the armor changes to white. Choose bright red and the armour goes brown. Makes no sense.

Honestly, the costume system for STO is pretty minimal, even for it's age. City of Heroes has been gone almost as long as STO had existed, and the costume customization on that game just dwarfed what you can do in this one. It's just not a system STO cares about, and that's okay.

When you're on the tailor screen selecting an outfit, there's a modified button, a create button, and next to it is a "rename" button, so you can name your outfit. That's how you can change the name of them. Then when you right-click your portrait to choose between your outfits on the fly, the names will be listed.

At tier 6, you can purchase the "Claim Account-Wide [Omega Task Force] Reputation Gear Discount" (costs 25k dil, 100k EC and 175 marks). If you plan to get the 3pc set on another character, it will already save you 15.5k dil (38.5k instead of 54k) and 125 marks (2875 instead of 3000).

Hi very cool video, I think someone covered this earlier but you can rename your ground gear using the rename tab at the bottom of the screen in the tailor. I’ve had a few nasty turns in the tailor myself and don’t get me started on where to find the Lukari gear 😂 well done bud 👍🏼

The tailor is a pandora's box. There are bugs there that date from 7 to 10 years ago. The color palette is a complete mess and in some costumes, the same piece can have 2 different color palettes depending if is a left side piece or a right side piece. Good to see all the money from those overpriced packs being invested back into the game, you know. But hey, let's screw the new players and tax the reroll tokens for dilithium, this will fix everything.

Can't disagree with you here. What really sucks is something's are available only under that specific armor set, so if I want the cape from the Klingon honor set I have to take pretty much the whole outfit as is, very little opportunity to mix and match. The helmet thing is buggy as all get out, and your right about the color pallets. A lot of stuff could to be made to look really good if they provided a full color pallet and just maybe three basic Sheen's like cloth, metal or leather as selectable options. Instead some stuff has a wide range of colors and on somethings the color choice is incredibly limited

I kind of gave up on focusing on ground, even for cosmetic. I'm happy with Epic Leck's Knives ( no adapted), swappable secondary's , burnham's armor, romulan kit, and the duelist shield. The duelist shield was a double mouse click mistake in the rep system. I'm sticking with it, dammit!

Lol, well I love the na'kuhl shield myself. When it drops low it activates that stealth field function which is fantastic because I always know when my shield is almost gone and I need to respond to that (usually with some form of recharge or at least diving out of the way and giving it a second to recover)

Do the pieces unlock individually? I have some "MACO" and such options in the dropdowns of my menu but they look like a mess of different things and some are the same across menus. I can't tell which things I've bought in the past, since the game doesn't list what's been unlocked or not.

As complex as this game is, and how poorly it is equipped to "walk you through," is there a comprehensive resource that we can go to (NOT the wiki, which IMO is terrible) to learn what we need to know, as opposed to having to hunt through KZbin for (may I say EXCELLENT) videos like yours?

I got a Jem'hadar, got to 65, got gamma rank 5, got the 3 set. Went to tailor, clicked "gamma armor" on the top right, but it only loads the gamma boots and the off duty sweater. Also, under "head covering" there are no options.

Re: Kobali Uniform I unlocked this way back in the day. I've had it available for every newer character without using phoenix at least up through my 2018 Jem'Hadar. I created a TOS Andorian on Sep 25, 2021, but I can't figure out how to get it unlocked on her. Did they remove that "grandfathering in?" I know the obvious choice is to burn a phoenix ticket, but if I don't have to I don't want to. Please help me figure out what I am missing.

either one of the two, with the shield and armor, so just 3 pc. Then it will unlock in the tailor. Some sets you have to unlock in the rep after getting the 3 pc to unlock in the tailor.

normally these are auto applied the the character you buy them on, check the total slots you have now and see if they have gone up.

@@MCStu could you make a video on capes? I know about the Klingon reputation one with fur collar. I've also seen one guy with Black shoulder pads with three gold stripes & a cape on a federation guy. I know about alternate universe KDF capes for Klingon too. But It has commander shoulder pad required. I like to cos play sto. I used a black vest to make a han Solo, I'm trying to make a lando calrissian for fed or ROM/fed & Dr strange ect.
