Holy shhhh the more vids I watch to try and learn about this game the more clear to me it is how utterly CLUELESS I am and how almost daunting the sheer amount of content there is in this game... and this vid is just covering one small aspect of the game! 🤣 That's ok though because I actually enjoy these content rich games that ultimately serves to keep them interesting with lots to do and try and replay in a different way on a different ship with a different character against different types of npc enemies yada yada yada. I just wish I knew what the best first steps to take. I've ground out a couple(yes two, a Fed and Klingon) of lv65 characters mainly using Patrols and I'm now just trying to find my way in this game. It's fun but a bit overwhelming and I find myself pretty much lost for hours just trying to get about and know where to go and what npc vendor sells a certain item even though I don't understand most of the options lol. I must say I've found MC Stu's vids very helpful and inadvertently learned very important things I wasn't even looking for initially.

Some Tribbles, when petted/activated, will drop a reputation mark at regular intervals. Equipping them on Bridge Officers during ground missions helps rack up reputation marks (e.g. Solanae Tribble will give Solanae Marks, Nukara Tribble will give Nukara Marks, Assimilated Tribble will give Omega Marks, etc.). Some of these tribbles were offered as mission prizes or can be found in the Zen Store. Tier 6 Reputation was added with the Gamma Quadrant in 2017/2018 as Tier 6 ships were added after the first Delta Rising in 2015.

7:25 Will point out that you normally get only 2500 points for a daily Rep project. You get 5000 on alts after you get the Rep to tier 5 on your main character. 12:18 "Sponsorship" (double Rep points) happens after completing tier 5, not 6, since tier 6 was added a long time later. Formerly, you had to do an additional project for sponsorship, which thankfully, they eliminated. 29:25 I think you can have four omni beams.

Thanks for the video ... one thing that i hate about this game is that if your new to the game and your daily says destroy terrine ships and you looking for a TFO that involves that kind of ship the TFOs do not always say what faction is involved so your clueless where to find that TFO . It would help if they added the daily TF0 to your captains menu so all you have to do is click on it and you straight in the TFO its self . I am playing on the Xbox by the way but thinking of playing it on my PC as well

If I remember right, the bridge officer isn't worth going through it, the ground borg TFO is, I believe, the same one where you walk into the assimilation thing and get an accolade...now you can just reclaim him from the dilithium store

Been calling those 'Premium Marks', 'Advanced Component' for years.. Never really gone into it seeing if that's actually is what it is called.. But it was referenced in one of cryptic's dev vids years ago when they were talking about "coming changes" in the early years of the reputation system.

Excellent video. I always use either the 3 or 4 piece Temporal Set for my Science builds, it just meshes well with a DEWSci and frees up a console or two for energy +dmg, while still keeping my EPG up to where Sci shines. I've been using the Colony Deflector more and more, so 3 piece mostly now. I unfortunately do not have the Imperial Rift set or that would be on my builds 😔 I'm also a holdout fan of the Rom engines...I know everyone loves the Comp (not a fan AT ALL of those), but my escorts are fast enough, and I tend to stick to ships with Pilot Maneuvers and keep my snout on the targets hiney, so I rarely ever need those evasives it gives...not to mention, the small ships become kinda uncontrollable with it, messing up raider flanking, firing cycles, etc.

The only rep field that does not require a special item to trade in to get gear is the New Romulus and Nukara reputations. All others require implants, energy cells, canisters and so on to trade in for either gear or dilithium ore. What is good about the Voth implants is that if you go to the contested zone in the Solonae Dyson Sphere you can gain control of sectors which grants marks and I think gives these implants. But a really good place to get them is the ground combat zone access from there. Depending on how many silos you can secure after taking over enough zones you get 1 3 or 5 implants each time and a good number of marks. Other than New Romulus, Dyson Joint Command was the first reputation system I maxed out.

Events are a great way to get reputation marks. Most event dailies are able to be completed in less than twenty minutes. Completing the daily for an entire event can get you around 2500 marks of your choice, plus the dil and whatever other rewards there are. That lets you completely level up a reputation and get complete sets of gear just to play around with. While full reputation gear sets are not min/max best gear, they are very good gear, and the set bonuses often unlock abilities that are a lot of fun.

The default daily payout is 2500 reputation XP for 30 marks, which will be doubled to 5000 when a character on the account hits *tier 5* (not 6). So it might make sense to run a reputation on one character only before starting it on the others, because it cuts the time and marks needed for the others in half.

i'm so glad i have all T6 Rep done and all crafting at lv 20. I have many stuff but i only play here and there a little bit because when you have so mutch ships weapons and stuff you have seen all and sadly the devs bring not mutch new content. Here and there there is a bit new content but its not enough. Some times i wish its possible to sell my liftime account. I like STO alot its a great game. I have 14 Chars and so mutch stuff it can get very heavy in terms of keeping track who have what. I investet 1000+ hours in this game and its very fun i wish the start overhaul the graphic more so it looks more modern like todays games, improve visual look of all ships and so on.

Very informative. I am using some of the consoles that you use, but if one doesn't have the high enough reputation, perhaps a video or something that will explain or direct others to equal consoles that perform the same or very similar. Like if one can't get the Competitive impulse engines, or the Tilly shield, some other console or space equipment that is non-rep that can do the same or similar functions. So far, so good on everything else that I use from your videos. Looking forward to the next one.

Yeah, the "premium" marks name works, I never know how to call them too, so I usually call them special annoyance unnecessary bs thingy lol I've been playing this game ever since it released on Playstation, and I really like the game, I already know everything that you're showing, but seeing that explained from a different perspective, you start to see how convoluted with unnecessary stuff just to complicate, confuse and put off new players this game have. I'm saying this not as a criticism of your video, I appreciate everything that people do for helping others. I'm just pointing out a problem I'm having trying to get my one of sisters into playing this, she likes Star Trek namely Voyager, and she likes space combat in STO, but I have to set up everything for her lol

Hahaha... "I've never run out of Expertise". I'm a couple of weeks into a new character and I am constantly running out of Expertise for the Rep daily assignments. Admittedly I'm also running the hour versions, and emptying all my Expertise into the Armada Holdings assignments; of which I'm constantly frustrated that I can't fill them out. It's worth noting to new players that Bonus Pool vouchers, or whatever you call them, are very useful and worthwhile, for every stat progression. They essentially make your time playing and progressing twenty percent more efficient (although judging by the incredibly incompetent use of the Market gamers today seem to want to slow down progression and accumulation for some reason!!!). A tip for choosing which type of Marks to create from a loot box acquired from a random Operation; don't choose ones that you are likely to find yourself in when choosing random Task Force Operations. For example, unless you're specifically saving up Marks to purchase an item in one choose a Rep that either rarely or never has an Operation for. So unlike the example in the video I would have chosen Gamma or Delta, as there's a high chance of playing a Discovery mission if you're joining a random Operation.

I have actually managed to run out of expertise on an alt I made a while ago to try some EPG before putting EPG on my DPS tac toon lol Just yesterday I had to do some TFO’s and a patrol on that little alt just to manage to start the reputations (and had to do the same the other day) At least today that little toon hits tier 5 reputation so I can mostly use it as Dil toon lol

Or you use patrols they give marks (between 15 and 30 for first one each day ) and can be run constantly with a 20 min cooldown so you cant play 1 constantly but there are enough patrols to fill the 20 min cooldown. As a side note patrols can be used to grind your characters marks, level, dilithium and credits as most patrols also drop loot that can be used or sold. You do however have to turn your brain off as it can be mind numbing. But in my experience its a lot faster then running the missions as those tend to have a lot of filler (talking running around and such).

No, this is terrible for marks as a main focus. It's best when used for leveling out ships to get traits. You might get the spcific type of mark but you don't get as many and you don't get random Q rewards. If you are farming expertise or leveling ships do elite patrols... if you need ore do doff missions/reputation projects both daily and hourly along with advanced and elite TFOs

If you have a temporal agent recruit and have all reputations to tier 5 you get an account wide unlock that makes all rep gear ultra rare instead of very rare :)

They are also useful for arming all of your BOFF’s. I wish one of the Reps dropped some generic armor or ground shields for them. Granted I find I mostly use my non away team BOFF’s as Armor mannequins for each of the rep sets. (I tend to put my away team BOFF’s in Narkuhl, Omega/Maco or Discovery sets.)

Hey, making EC is quite easy - just 1. do the TOur of the Galaxy (money increases with levels), 2. do missions/TFO's - as there you will recieve EC rewards, and on top bunch of stuff to sell (also on Exhange). Last but not leaste when you will be ready do ENDAVOURS - for finisihing you will get usually a reward box with lots lots of EC's.

@@Maniuto1981 as a relatively fresh player, endeavors are quite good for EC. I try for the red one first - I’ve pulled 400k from one. My EC stash has been getting quite the injection over the last few days (as in went from around 1M to 4M or so so far).

Admiralty. Look for missions that give EC awards. Also there are Event awards that occasionally pop, like Grateful Freighter Captain or Diplomatic Tribute. Do the Ninth Rule and Rescue & Search patrols. Both of these drop tons of vendor trash loot. Do them on Normal difficulty, as they are timed. The more DPS you can put out, the more drops you get, the higher the EC awards. Check your R&D tab in your inventory. Chances are, you've picked up a few Blue quality upgrades. Sell them. You should only use Phoenix Upgrades. Play the Exchange. You find something that is selling way below what seems to be the going rate, buy it and relist it for the going rate. Endeavors, as others have mentioned. TTG. If Cryptic ever gets the DilEx sorted out, Dil > Zen > Keys. Sell keys on the Exchange for the going rate. During Infinity Promo events, substitute those for the keys.

I have one character that is struggling on XP my Gamma Recruit started at level 50 so he just can not get XP fast enough to run them all even with boost he is setting on over 300k in unrefined dill and over 2500 of each marks because he has accesses to the Delta and temporal (All three factions) it is hard to justify playing him when I have 7 other 65s and 2 I am leveling off doff missions only.

To be clear...You do mean you recycle or sell them and do not dismiss them? Right? Selling your items to the bartender on Drozana station gets you the most EC. At least it used to and I always sell stuff to that bartender.

Doing Red Alert: Borg is a great way to get +35 rep marks because it only takes about 5 mins. No cooldowns associated with it, so you can rinse and repeat multiple consecutive times. Also, it gives you great Experience for ship leveling. (Can get a full T6, unlock ship trait, in about 5-6 runs.) Of course that's only applicable when the Red Alert Event is running.

I wonder why you don't use the Romulan Hyper Plasma Torpedo on your BO DPS builds? The Super Charged Weapons is triggered by launching torpedoes, and you can reach the max stack of Super Charged Weapons with the Romulan Hyper Plasma Torpedo because though the Romulan Hyper Plasma Torpedo is a very slow flying and destructible torpedo has the fastest firing rate of any other torpedo in the game so you very quickly get all three stacks of Super Charged Weapons by using the Romulan Hyper Plasma Torpedo. I know you do way more DPS than I do, I just recently got into DPS Diamond League, I'm only doing 167k DPS. My ship is the Lexington, but I did a Herald Antiproton BO build on it, though I am working on upgrading some Agony Phasers and Sensor-Linked Phasers so I can boost damage of the Phaser Lance weapon as well, it's too bad you can't swap out the Phaser Lance for an Antiproton Lance or I'd probably just swap out the Phaser Lance. And I use the Romulan Hyper Plasma Torpedo to get those 3 stacks of Super Charged Weapons fast. I'm also using the M6 Computer, Temporal Trajectory Shifter, Flagship Tactical Computer, and Timeline Stabilizer to increase my Weapon Cycle Haste.

I prefer to do Patrols to get competition marks. You don't get a lot in the patrol but you can do several patrols and they reset every 30 minutes if you like to do a certain type of patrol mission.

Usually I'm starting to collect marks as soon as it is possible, mainly from events, battlezones (Badlands, Goncra, Solanae Dyson Sphere etc.) or adventure zones (mainly New Romulus - daily bonus + additional 10 marks per day + 1k dilithium for quick run/rerun of 'Staging Area') or as you maentioned from random tfo's. The best thing is to run all of the reps simultaneously, daily income of dilithium for just collecting the rewards equals 4420 units :) Mission that contain console (Multi-Conduit Energy Relay) from 8472 Rep is called 'Surface Tension' - last one in Solanae Dyson Sphere Arc. Btw both consoles from these rep works great with Soliton Wave Impeler: mission reward one boosts radiation dmg, reputation one boost rate of fire (by magnifiing engine power). As for polaron weapons, I usually use beam from Lukari Rep (tier 5) and at Tier 6 polaron variant from Temporal rep. Lukari beam array is great for healing but it also have baked in Technical Overload function (its mentioned in detailed description of weapon) that can deal heavy dmg if happens, Temporal rep beam on the other hand has chance for cooldown reduction of boff abilities by 5 seconds when proc. Rest of the weapon slots I'm usually filing with weapon set from mission 'Home' in Gamma Quadrant Arc and Dominion polaron weapons from infamous 'This is Kurland' mission :)

@@Wildwood56 terran rep phaser imo is kinda must have on phasers builds (from the point you have acces to it of course), other than that Disco wide-arc dual phaser beam banks are also good (especially with set bonus from Lorca Custom controls), for other slots i usually stack them with exchange weapons (fe. pulse phasers are decent) or what i have acces to and quite often (if ship have 5/3 to 5/1 weapon layout) I'm going with dual beam banks - great for beam overload and not so demanding in piloting skills as cannons, also it's not a problem if you stack on front 1 or 2 beam arrays from reputation or some set, still does the job done :)

As to the Rep stores, the Borg one sells Blue and Purple Tac Doffs . Also, a ground boost that adds Antiproton damage to your energy weapons for 5 minutes . And if you have Boffs that need ground weapons , the split beam Chronoton or Disruptor vsriants (don't remember which rep store they came from) are good choices for debuffing multiple ground foes at the same time . Edit1 : If you want to go balls to the walls with your Boffs as a ground support team -- get the Gamma rep ground set for one Boff , the Omega set from the Borg Rep for another Boff . The Boffs have to wear / use these sets (which means that two Boffs use a bit sub par weapons) , but the sets both provide team wide damage and elusive properties , which add to your overall team effectiveness . Unless you REALLY want the random reward boxes for that reputation, or are desperate for whatever reason to level up that reputation as quickly as possible, the hourly ones aren't worth it due to how many marks they cost.

If all you're missing is elite marks to get rep items the easiest way for Dyson/Counter Command/Terran/Temporal/Lukari/Gamma is to go to the different battlezones and complete stuff. There are almost always players active there as it's often an easy way to complete certain endeavors.

I just came back to sto after a 3 year break, and I'm running all the reputations on my 2nd and 3rd characters (both lvl 65) and I have no Expertise. I have been running missions and TFOs, but the reputations suck up the Expertise so fast, and its just trickling in and I can't figure out how to get more Expertise. Other people have said that they have never run out, and thats the case on my main too, but on my alts, I just can't seem to get enough expertise and I can't run all my reputations which really sucks.

The discovery torpedo and console are must haves the 2 piece set is great the discovery phaser is good but its a dual beam so it doesn't fit every build the competitive engine is the best in the game the terran advanced beam/dual heavy cannon is the weapon in the game the lukari beam/cannon and its console are must haves for polarons and plasma when you get to tier 6 the romulan beam is a great 0 weapon drain plasma beam and its console is decent its torpedo is pure high yield plasma spam the counter command torpedo is the hardest hitting torpedo in the game when high yield

@@goncalolourenco9885 well it would require you to skip to higher leveled missions but the quantum phase weapon set and the quantum phase ship set are pretty good pre rep pre fleet set they are in the missions stormfront and sunrise there is a good 3 piece set from melting pot bushfire has a good set for disruptor as does echoes of light and blood of the acients for polaron home has a must have set and if you go the available tab there are missions that aren't apart of the main story that have decent sets like the jem Hadar set for ground and space from the 4200 and the breen space set from the breen arc a lot of the missions around the delta arc and after offer really good free stuff that last even in endgame
