This tutorial (and the reshade video im about to watch) are fantastic and came at the PERFECT time for me to realize that I can in fact continue my passion for photography, and combine it with my love of video games! I personally use modded clothes so having the mod Virtual Atelier is super useful and also makes buying the clothes from mods fun and exciting, and somewhat immersive instead of just spawning them into your inventory directly. I've modded my cyberpunk into both the Sims and a tactical shooter simultaneously somehow, and this just increased my love of the game 10x. So thank you for these tutorials and your work is phenomenal!

I came back because of the 2.2 update and also the fact, I've never even started playing the phantom liberty DLC lol. One thing I always admire is the photo mode. I use that to kinda take a lil break from the missions and just admireing the sceneries and take nice photos, especially with the new smart frames feature introduced in 2.2. I also had AMM back in the day, but never bothered with it, because it was complicated to use. Your video helped me understand it better.

I found this mod called CharLi that sets up lighting modules that u can rotate around the player and you can do other cool stuff!! And its super easy to use and intuitive!

Very nice video! I've been experimenting quite a bit myself lately, but you still mentioned some stuff I didn't know about, so I will look into those! Some stuff I found that I think is worth sharing: EquipmentEX is a great mod to add. It allows you to create basically unlimited clothing presets that you can switch through, even when you are inside the photo mode. The mod also allows for more mixing of clothes since you can assign items to different slots on the character that might otherwise already be taken up. Another cool mod I recommend is CharLi, which adds a highly customizable lighting tool. These lights are much easier to control and position in my experience than the alternative through AMM. One more thing I like to correct is that DSR is not exclusive to the 40-series cards and can be activated like you showed on almost any decently modern Nvidia card. EDIT: One more thing I want to append: Path Tracing in photo mode only activates once you hit the game's shutter button. So if you use the reshade functions and take a screenshot, it won't actually have path tracing on. You will need to turn it on permanently for that. Luckily you can turn it on or off in-game without needing to restart or reload, but it does hit the performance hard, especially at first when it starts up i guess.

I did discover that about the NVidia cards, though I also had several people say that they didn't have the option (could be much older cards), so i'd like to append that, but also, it seems incongruent with some peoples experiences... so truthfully, I don't know for sure, but you're probably right. I still haven't dipped into Charli but I intend to! I've heard its much better.

If that's the case, what should I do to capture this effect via "screenshooting" in photo mode? Edit: I remembered what I also wanted to ask - that is, if I understand correctly, when using reshade I have to take the photo with a 3rd party program, because photo mode with CP2077 will not catch it, yes? And if so, the path tracing option in photo mode won't work, because it only shots for one frame when rendering? Edit 2: Sorry for so many questions, but I have another one XD I've eneabled 4k with DSR in global settings, it works as intended, I can choose 4k in CP, but after choosing 4k, PT in photo mode is grayed out. @@meszner491 Hi there! No worries, I'm happy to help where I can :) You can use any external screenshotting tool to capture reshade's effects! (Even steam screeenshot) You are correct about the pathtracing in photomode feature. The feature only works if you are using the spacebar to capture the photo. I'd reccomend turning pathtracing on globally and capturing the photo while its actively rendering in photomode for some really preem lighting. Obvs gonna be a little laggy (it is even with my 4080), but all that matters is the final shot, right? Weirdly enough, I haven't had any issues with using DSR and also enabling pathtracing... I'm not too sure about why that's happening, and I doubt it's because you're out of VRAM or something.. I've been shooting at 1440p recently, still really high fidelity, and much less of a headache tbh. Maybe try some other resolutions. I hope I could be of some use!

As an owner of a 2070 super, my PC is dying when I have ray tracing and around 4k supersampling for a shot. It still does the job (at less than 10 fps) but I really hope the new gen of cards will be more affordable because I want to experience Path Tracing. Nice video and really cool V !

AMD can also utilize DSR functionality. In Radeon Adrenaline software it's called Virtual Super Resolution under the Global Display tab. I use it to play in 1440p on my 1080p screen and it benefits screenshots too.

Seeing all the Cyberpunk photos on Reddit “Photomode Phantoms” whilst enjoying Spider-Man photomode really made me jump back into the game again. Both gameplay and photo wise. Gotta appreciate them adding the path tracing for photo mode! 2 questions, when using the reshade I won’t be able to use that pathtracing option right? I should just enable normal pathtracing for the sake of the photo? Also thank you for this in-depth look. One of the best and helpful tutorials out there in general. Covered so much! A good photo mode is NG+ for me. Its just such a special icing on the cake. Thanks for sharing!! You can use pathtracing with reshade, just do not use DLSS for final shots because you only want native rendering of textures; no AI generation! Capturing with the "capture" button messes up with the pathtracing. I prefer using the external screenshot function in AMD or Nvidias software to get the final product anyways. **remember; reshade effects will not capture unless you use external screenshotting methods** Happy photographing!! my biggest issue with photomode is that, the lighting is unpredictable, especially during day time. Like, you find a good place, setup pose and effect setting, goes to take a SS, and the light changes to either way too bright or way too dark, 50% of the time it happens after a couple shots at the same location, the other 50% of the time it happens on the first SS, and it's driving me nuts...

If you spawn a light from the "ambient lights" section of the decor menu, you can target it from there, and then open up target tools. You should see "light settings" at the bottom of target tools.

What I'm finding out is that I can't smash characters together. If they stand, they try to walk away from one another. I guess I need to experiment with freezing time completely? Really struggling with the camera for now, plus I'm used to blur the background & in the freefly mod there's no such thing as add photomod to that, it's either or kind of thing. How do you hide the UI in this freecam mod? Because in the photomode I'm still locked inside the game photomode. And how do you move V so freely when using Reshade? Granted, I downloaded the base programs for the modding this evening, so I know nothing, lol. So much to figure out, but your video is helpful. Thank you.

so, in my experimentation, it seems that all characters that are spawned have a level of NPC AI layered onto them. Mine also do the same. Best way to get around this is to use poses and position the characters together. That way, the AI is disabled and they don't move away from eachother. Its super finicky, I'm not gonna lie. You can also freeze targets individually, but note, that the freeze target function is only full operational if you have "otis_inf IGCS" plug in installed. I have a video on that as I have started using it instead of AMM since the release of this video. I personally use the freecam that IGCS offers over the AMM director freecam, as its just more effective and auto hides UI. The tool is paid though, thats the only downside. I'm able to move around freely with reshade activated because I am purely using the built in photomode and pressing the toggle to disable the UI. TBH i rarely use the freecam built into AMM. It's alot to get used to, but honestly, seeing how fresh you are to using these mods, its just gonna take a little bit of time to get used to how all of it works.

Thanks so much!! Yes. If you use Nvidia DSR or amd's software, you may be able to set a virtual resolution higher than the max res on your monitor, depending on what graphics card you may have. There is also a paid tool called "otis IGCS" that allows hypersampling up to a desired resolution. Just look up how to do so with your brand of graphics card!

@@shadria_ Thank you for the reply :) I'm aware of DSR but haven't used it for a while and when I tried to turn it on I didn't see the option. Turns out that it only works on some monitors (I tried literally everythin). Finally got it working if I only have my second monitor plugged in but thats too much of a hustle every time. Also for DSR to work I have to change the games resolution, then go ingame and press the camera mode, all with like 2fps and if I try to go past 4k with DSR my game crashes. I was hoping that a mod exists that could just change the game resolution when I actually hit the button to take a photo ingame. It seems like the default photo mode already does something with the graphic engine when I take a photo.

@@SBLHendrix yes potentially. It wouldn't be too difficult to put that together. I still wrestle with it to this day haha! Just remember to turn on that omnidirectional visualizer in the target tools (3 axis arrows). The ambient lights always appear a bit below the visualizer too, and also make sure the "intensity" is above "0" in the "light settings so it's actually producing light. (Light Settings only available on the "customizable" lights)

i know you made this a while back, hopefully you still are into this stuff, but i had a question about the long exposure. ive been trying all night so far to get this to work and get a decent picture and everything still comes out crazy ass blury even with my 4070 ti super graphics card and ive got mods on it as well to help with things but im trying out this long exposure and i cannot for the life of me figure out how to use it and where it saves to when i am actually successful and i was wondering if you could shed some light on it for me maybe? sorry if youve already answered that in comments before now or another video, i havent yet scrolled through your channel to see if i can find anything else but i have googled it quite a bit with no luck.

@@LotusFlower0502 seems you have alot of questions. 1.Check out my reshade video for an explanation on long exposure. 2. Make sure the in game depth of field is turned off if you are using reshade depth of field. 3. Capture the photo with an external screenshot software (in game screenshot will not capture reshade) I'm really not sure what else to tell ya. If you're using reshade, maybe try a different depth of field tool like "quint dof" or something. Good luck

@@shadria_ On the regular gameplay. When I tried to use while on photo mode, when I turned both off, my first person view would be lower than the it should, basically my cam would be at the neck when it should be at the head's heights

@@Ra-mx3ct I'm at a loss really. It only operates outside of photomode properly from what I recall. It's been forever since I used the camera tool from AMM admittedly. You should just be able to pan around once you make and enable the cameras. I'm not sure if it's with mouse pan or keyboard tho. Sorry if I'm not much help I just havent experienced this!

Is it possible to have the slider move by marginal amounts when moving V, because I don't want my V floating in mid air or stuck in the ground

@@jaehaerys9194 ehh, there may be an increment slider underneath the x,y,z slider. If you can adjust those to a small increment, that should alter the rate of movement. I think theres also a tick box underneath the position adjustment that enables precision movement. I hope this helps

@@jaehaerys9194 21:40 for example, while the character is targeted, you can see I have advanced movement and the axis check marked under the x,y,z axis numbers. There should be pluses and minuses just under the axis values that you can edit to increase or decrease the increments the axis sliders moves. I'm not sure why it isn't there for you.

Pathtracing triggers only when you use the in-game screenshot function if the "pathtracing only in photo mode" function is selected. If you want pathtraced light outside of the in-game screenshot function (spacebar), pathtracing must be set to always on.I recommend this second route because Depth of Field from Reshade will not be captured with the in-game screenshot function, and must be captured with an external screen capture software. (Steam, nvidia, etc).

Hello, I got a problem with pmu mod. Installed every requirement manually and mod doesn't show up in photomode. Other mod I have (arasaka cyberarms, eye color) works fine. Even tried reinstalling the game, no changes. Is there a solution?

I believe so! I am able to do it with controller on PC. Just toggle the option "look at camera" option and immediately tap whatever button is assigned on your controller for capture.

Hey! No worries! So, I did a little research. Looks like in the "settings" tab, under "experimental," there is a "Enable Freeze in Photo Mode" toggle. If you go into photo mode after checking that box, and play an animation from your expressions, you can freeze the target (remember to target v) from the target tools menu. Apparently unfreeze does not work though unless you are using "Otis Camera Tools (IGCS)". Looks like i'm about to add another mod to my list! Thanks for asking the question! Hope this helps.

Better to start with a clean install if you're gonna go the vortex route! It may disable any manual mods by default but I'm not sure

In order to capture the reshade effects, you must use an external capture software such as Nvidia Geforce or AMD's equivalent. Any other external capture software will work too!

@@shadria_ hey there, just coming back with an update: i've found a mod called "Adaptive Graphics Quality" on nexus which allows you to have a default preset for exploration, a combat preset for the most fps, and a photomode preset for the best looking graphics possible, neat!

Is it not possible to have Cyberpunk's photo mode just work like the photo mode in any other game? I just want it to freeze the frame, so I can take an epic screenshot of my character in the middle of firing a bullet, or chopping off a boss's head.
