How to Take the Tren Maya to Chichen Itza

Prices, Tren Maya 1193 pesos for a return ticket. 900 - 1100 for a tour with bus. Hotel pickup, stops for cenote and Valladolid. Some even include lunch.

It is going to be interesting to see how fast the train gets and how it integrates with tours and seeing the area. The Tren Maya from Valladolid is only 25 minutes and less than 100 pesos for locals but by the time you take a round trip taxi and bus to the ruins it is near 500 pesos. There are colectivos for 40 pesos each way between Valladolid and Chichen Itza. So, as we have said before, the train will work better for long distance travel.

Hello. We actually just did a video update on our Facebook page. Basically, nothing has changed. You cannot connect from the Riviera Maya to the first train leaving Cancun for Chichen Itza.

It is nice to use the train and see how it is. Plus, the train is more comfortable. There are only two trains a day, so it also depends on your schedule.

Also you need to consider the bus from the Tren Maya Station in Merida to the Centro. This is another small payment and about 25 minutes.

What is the name of the bus you took from Chichen Itza Train Station to the Ruins? Is it only one bus?

There is only one bus and it does not have a name. It is the only means of transportation from the station to the ruins. Everyone is guided to the tickets and everyone takes the bus. You cannot walk because it is about 15 minutes to the ruins by driving.

Well, the answer is, the Tren Maya does not work for you. You can take it from the airport to Puerto Morelos and then take a taxi from the station 19 minutes to your hotel. It will cost you more than just booking a private transfer from the airport to your hotel. The time it takes to take the Ten Maya will be about one hour door to door. It only takes 33 minutes if you book a private transfer. The station is further back from Puerto Morelos and a little distance to your hotel.
