Great video Greg. I just want to say that I just got my Miata a few months ago, and within the last week I just finished replacing the timing belt and water pump thanks to your awesome tutorial video. It took me 20 hours to replace the timing belt and water pump although I am only 16. This was also the first time I have ever worked on a car before and I did it with no help and minimal tools. My number one piece of advice for someone with no experience like me would be find a friend or acquaintance who has worked on cars before and have them help you. (P.S. I live in Florida and have no garage so another thing I learned is that I need to buy one of those tailgating tents and a big fan lol.)

Had a 1999 10.Anni with 195/ 50 R 15 Hankook RS 3- 222 Semi slicks. Was OK, enough grip for all situations on a public road. Was also runnig perfect straight at full speed here in no speed limit Germany. Test drove the latest NB with 205 - tires. Straight line performance was not perfect so it seems 195/50 is the best compromise for a ( stock / Bilstein ) NB Miata if driven full speed. Now I have a ND with street legal big brake kit front ( K sport forged 4 pot ) so it was necessary to add 20 mm spacer for clearence the calipers to the stock 17" aloys what I want to keep. Actually I just bought a 2. set of stock 17" alloys for semi slicks. Straight line performance is still OK with the 205/45 tires, dont want a lower profile to prevent demages. Car has also the stiffer springs from Eibach ( Mazda - original item here in Germany ) and Bilsteins from factory.

As a recent NB owner I am super happy that I found your channel, every video is awesome. So it turns out that I am obsessed with the 15x9 Advanti S1+ 225/45 fitment on the NB2 with a lowered setup. I have read as much as I can on the subject but still unsure if I need to roll the fenders for a reasonable drop, I reallllly don't want to, the car I bought is unfortunately too nice. Any feedback would be dope.
@TheCarPassionChannel Жыл бұрын
It depends on the offset of the wheel, but a 225 can be done on the NB with little to no fender modifications. I have a more recent vid on my channel about installing 15x9 FM Kogeki wheels with 225's, and I haven't modded the fenders yet

I’m currently running 15x8 0 offset w/ 205/50 front & 215/50 rear. I had to slightly camber out the setup for me to fully clear my fenders. But in the future I really want to run, 205/40 front & 215/40 rear so I can lower it a little bit more for a cleaner look. I have watched your videos about rolling fenders and thanks to you, my miata looks the way it is now. Haha but fitment industry was the reason for the wheel/tire setup. 😅

Looks amazing, but this is a little hardcore for me. It's why I ultimately chose 15x7 6ULs with a 195 width tire. For a street car with stock power, this is more than enough and it's pretty much plug-n-play for any year Miata. I have yet to hear or see any rub with completely stock fenders/liners. It doesn't get you too much street cred, but tire options are plenty for a 15" wheel and it looks far better than the stock daises that so many NA6s came with. I also like the extra ground clearance they gave me, because streetcar. In the future, with more disposable income, I could see going to an 8" or even a 9" inch wide wheel. For now, I'm pretty content with the setup.

G'day, I know this is a very late reply to this video but I wanted to get a few people's opinions (btw I found this video really good, Thanks Greg!!). I have a Miata NC (over here in Australia we call it an MX5 btw). On it I've got Yokohama Advan's RGIII 17x8 5/114.3 ET38 Wheels with Bridgestone RE003 225/45 R17's in the Rear and 215/45 R17 at the front (I originally had 225's in the front as well; but I know currently have them as spares because they were rubbing a lot more than now; so I decided to go for a more "stretched" tire with the 215's up front). I am currently running lower tire pressures of 31psi all round because of the rubbing up front and I just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas about how to stop my fronts from rubbing (I believe it could be the inner arch wheel liner?) with a higher pressure like 36psi so I get better tread wear? Any help much appreciated. Dave

I'm running 225 R1Rs on 9" 6ULs in the warm months. NB with light roll. No rubbing ever. Note that a Miata on 205's has more tire width per ton than the new Corvette. Bigger tires are more prone to hydroplaning, so maybe don't run them to the cords.

Hey Greg! Very useful. I’ve just welded new sills and rear wings into SPJ and flared them to death. The info you give on the front was really useful as I want to run 15x10 as the fatter the wheel the Phatter the car will look. I actually flared all the rear by welding in the new rear fender then I hand built the upper inner arch afterwards so the fender was alot more flexible when I was pushing it out. I guess your recommendation on actually having the wheels first is a great idea. Maybe I’ll do this before I get SPJ painted up. I’m just super pleased I’ll be able to run 10’s not 9’s on this! That's where you may need to add a spacer to get the barrel off of the coilover. But it's important to maintain a minimum of at least 7 threads on the lugs if using slip-on spacers. At least that's what I've always gone by. Otherwise you need either extended studs or studded spacers.
