As a young adult in college who grew up in the faith as a pastors kid I found myself low today and typed in christian podcasts for young men. And i am in tears writing this because this episode softened my heart when I thought i lost that feeling. I see my friends in that kid and i see all the questions i had but God has revealed himself to me and when that kid sees God work in his life i pray he follows him 100% thank you for allowing God to work through all of you.

As a teen girl trying to find my walk with Jesus, thank you for this video. Often times I do struggle talking to nonbelievers, because sometimes the answer is simply just faith. I don’t know all the inner workings of god, and I don’t know why god chose certain things to happen and take place. That’s where your Christian faith has to come into play. And I think that’s where people struggle. As humans we naturally want a clear answer. So whenever something becomes theoretical, we become unsettled. Like me personally, I’ve experienced the lord. I’ve been in his presence, I’ve seen miracles take place, I’ve seen people fall down to the ground with the spirit of the lord. But what made me believe the most, is when it happened to me. When I got baptized in the Holy Ghost, when I got healed of x,y,z. That’s when I got my clear answer. So in a way, I understand the nonbelievers viewpoints. When something has never happened to you, it’s hard to believe in it. I’m looking forward to listening to some of your other videos and podcasts, as I’ve been trying to swap out my earthly habits for godly ones.

To help with Maddox's question regarding what happens to the people who never heard about Jesus when they die, I remember reading a scripture where no matter if you die today or are still alive when Jesus returns, everyone will have the opportunity to accept or deny Christ. Like, when Jesus comes back and takes his people, the people who don't believe will remain on earth and still have an opportunity to accept Jesus as their lord and savior. Regarding the people who die before then, I would assume they get a chance to accept or decline. Just my take on it.

My take on this is he does not know Who GOD is, who Jesus is, and he does need to be taught the WHOLE Bible. Once he has been taught the whole Bible he will be better equipped to make the right choices. It seems he is mixing science (what he sees) with the things of the Spirit (which is Faith).

The one question Maddux had about other people shouldn't be able to educate you on God and it is more that they need to experience God for themselves. This reminds me of all the mission trips Peter and the other apostles took in the book of Acts. Jesus did bless us with the Holy Spirit and wanted us to spread the word of the Gospel. He sent angels as well. Because of this us Christians are able to educate others since we are filled with the Holy Spirit and we are following what Jesus had done and wanted us to do.

I wish that truth mattered more to people than their biases, identity, and worldview. Everybody that watches this podcast should ask themselves “do I care about truth?” If you do care about truth then you would take steps to understand what leads one to truth. There is only one reliable way to find truth on this earth and that’s methodological naturalism. It’s learning skepticism and epistemology. If people could understand logic and reason, epistemology, skepticism, and fallacies then you will be lead to believe what is true or what is actually in reality.

An answer for his question regarding why there is an eternal punishment or reward for the things we do here on earth.. It goes back to the garden of Eden. God in all his infinite wisdom and glory decided to make humans in his image and a place for these beautiful things he created to live and dwell with (think of a couple being so in love they decide to have a child out of that love). The goal of this was for God to dwell with us and us with God forever literally“heaven on earth”. However when Adam allowed sin to enter the world through disobedience ,God couldn’t dwell with us and us with God because of the evilness that filled our hearts. Ever since then m, God has made chess moves to ensure we can one day get back to “heaven on earth” bc It was never his plan to create us in this place and be separated from him just how it’s never a parents plan for them and their child to have an estranged relationship. Now fast forward to Jesus coming to earth! His main purpose was to bridge the gap that was made with Adam in order for us to dwell with God AGAIN how he created. So if you choose to live in sin here you choose to be estranged from God bc God in his perfectness can’t dwell in sin. His kingdom is perfect so only those who reflect God here now can dwell with him again. Those who reflect sin get to dwell in the place they felt was better than the kingdom of God and that’s hell.

Int the first five minutes the answer to the question could be: when man was created the Father said: let us make man in our image and in our likeness. If I were to ask 10 people in a room what's most important to them 80%+ would say relationship and the reason why is because we are made in His likeness. I do not know what 3 dimensional words are, but what has come to my mind for that question is this Scripture. Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. Matthew 13:13 Jesus spoke in illustrations to give people understanding of God and the kingdom. Even the disciples didn’t truly seem to understand, although much became clearer to them once they received the Holy Spirit. Also this Scripture on our limited understanding. For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. I Corinthians 13:12
@nuttysquirrel88162 жыл бұрын
Great discussion, thanks for posting. Can I have your thoughts on the following? I respectfully assert that *every* Christian believes in Jesus based on someone else's word. Even if the Christian ignores his pastor and reads the Bible for their self, they're still reading what someone else wrote about Jesus. The believer might say _"I experienced Jesus through the Holy Spirit."_ Again, one wouldn't know about the Holy Spirit unless they read about it in the Bible. If a Christian had an experience with the Holy Spirit, that's great, but how does the Christian prove it? I can't see the Holy Spirit, I can't measure or interact with it, how do *I* know it's real? Thanks.
@AChristianPod2 жыл бұрын
Great question. I don't think understanding the source of the experience (the Holy Spirit) is necessary to understanding that you had an encounter with God. I use wifi everyday, but if my life depended on it, I couldn't tell you how it actually works lol. I've seen with my own eyes and experienced myself what it's like to fall under the power of God. I can't explain it nor can I measure it, but nobody can convince me that the power of God isn't real. Paul said, "My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power". The power of God trumps our understanding. Hopefully that makes sense. I like this question🎈

If I may add a couple of points! 1) Paul tells us in 2nd Timothy that "all scripture is God-breathed." If this is true, which I believe it to be, then your assertion holds true. Every Christian's belief in Jesus is ultimately based on someone else's word. The Word of God. So yes, even if the Christian ignores his pastor and reads the scriptures for himself, his belief in Christ is rooted in God's literal spoken word to him. We should then be exceedingly confident in our faith in Jesus. 2) The idea that we can not interact with the Holy Spirit is subjective. Scripture makes it clear that the Holy Spirit is God himself. The Holy Spirit has a mind, emotions, and a will, and I do believe we can interact with Him. Not only is that evident at Pentecost in the book of Acts, but it should be evident in every believers life. The Holy Spirit changes the heart. The believers' outpouring of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control should be evidence enough as these things are impossible apart from Him. Conviction of sin and a repentant heart are all evidences of the Spirit interacting with us. Lastly, in a strange twist of fate, even our own ability to understand the scriptures concerning the Holy Spirit is only possible through the given wisdom and discernment of the Spirit Himself! God bless!

The question he asked about being punished infinitely for something finite could be answered in that what we do here on earth is not finite. Everything we do is in accordance to God's plan which is ongoing and beyond our knowledge and time. And also recognize that your actions/words do not stop at you, but affect the people and world around you to an extent that you may never fully know. Operationing outside of bringing glory to God and not acting on the desires He has put in your heart leads to a place that is eternally without him.

I don't want to sound mean but a few minutes in and this conversation is awful. All we've had so far is a lot of assertions about a range of things (largely theological) that are either demonstrably false or logically incoherant. And that's from both sides. It's staggering how ill equipt people are to have these conversations. At least they are trying though and it's good that these conversations happen. It's just sad to see the way their religion has corroded their cognative abilities. They all see like good and honest people though. They just seem to have fallen for the con that is religion.

We all have a desire for him, Jesus our God, its the empty pit in your stomach that you cannot fill with anything else- food, drugs, things etc. Sure we have our basic needs call that what you want, but how about those desires? All roads have a dead end and end up leading to him. Matthew 7:7 NKJV 7“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

To explain a little bit with scripture about what Madix is talking about something finite shouldn't send you to eternal punishment or whatever, James 2:10 says, "Whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it." God doesn't necessarily view all sin the same, but all sin makes you fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). No matter what we do, we will inevitably sin. We are not perfect. We make our own decisions because God made us to make our own decisions. But the ONLY way we can get to heaven is to "confess with your mouth 'Jesus is Lord' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." (Romans 10:10) I hope this helps explain a little bit more. :D

Say you were a math's teacher equipped with knowledge of true equations. If someone was to say to you that 2x2=10, would you want to correct their mistake an equip them of the truth or will you be satisfied just allowing them to go about life believing a lie? Food for thought.

“Why doesn’t God delete the devil ? “ God created the darkness to patronise the light (children of God) when out of alignment to his will, practising sin and being disobedient, God leaves you over to Satan on purpose (all still in his control) because your refusing to come to him for your answers, instead going to people or ideas and conceptions of the world and what it offers (new age spirituality) and simply just being disobedient

Long comment but I pray it helps anyone who reads it through. To the question posed- why does a finite moment place us in infinite space, whether it be heaven or hell. From the beginning humans were created to fellowship with God and we weren’t meant to die. Death was the consequence of eating the fruit (disobeying God) Gen 2:17. When Adam and Eve sinned they broke our relationship with God causing us to no longer have access to eternal life Gen 3:22-23. Which requires us to have an infinite placement as a result of human death. Jesus is our redemption, the choice we make to believe in Him as our savior restores our relationship with God Rom 5:11. So in Jesus second coming we’re able to receive salvation Hebrews 9:28 and live in our glorified bodies Phili 3:20-21. God patiently gives us multiple opportunities to make it right because He doesn’t want us to die, be eternally separated from Him 2 Peter 3:9. With Jesus we’re able to have eternal life as we were originally created to have. I pray that each of you are able to receive the free gift of salvation from Jesus Christ 🤍

The bible is backed up by so much evidence. Christianity is not just a matter of faith. The details in it are something that even many theologians couldn't dispute. The bible, unlike the Quran, was written by 40 authors spanning over a long period of time, in different languages, and compiled decades after the events of Jesus. Jesus' coming was already predicted centuries before He was crucified. The crucifixion of Jesus was not a fictional occurrence, and the fact that his following grew even more so after the fact made me question why. Because back then, being a Christian was literally a matter of life or death. People were literally killed for going against the Roman empire. Jesus was crucified because He stated He was the son of God. The Jews handed him over to the Romans on the grounds of Blasphemy. He had ample opportunity to deny the allegations and spare Himself the gruesome death He knew was awaiting Him, but He chose to still sacrifice Himself, for it was already written, and He knew He would arise again.

41:09 For all that we know people who received healings because they think that they would be healed it could have been God healing them. Psalms 145 says that He loves all that He has made and He is a God of beliefs. People in the gospels were healed because they believed that they would be healed.🙂

i feel like the kid is coming from is its either this or that. There are these things of the world but there is also a God. I think the word Also is very important and even covers the willingness to know God is what makes us to even be casted to hell or go to Heaven. The choice or “alsoness” of the world is what makes us move to God because there can be compare and contrast all day long, but there also a God.

To answer the question around 30:00. Why is it just for God to send ppl to hell for eternity for sin that is ‘finite’. The birth of sin, through Adam and Eve was that they doubted God, thinking that they knew what was better for them than God did. Now God created us, so he has the power and authority to set a standard of living. Do you think the people in hell love God? The people that are in hell are the people that didn’t trust god, that resented god. Are people who never repented because they trust themselves and not god. They cannot inherit the kingdom because God cannot be with unforgiving sins. They choose not to accept the free gift of eternity, thus they choose their own fate. I hope that makes sense. Love God with all your heart, mind and soul. God Bless

I think for the question of why God doesn't delete the Devil, the devil is the father of lies and deception, but he was also a being with a choice just as we are. Because we ate of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, we are knowledgeable and capable of both good and evil. The evil acts of man are not reliant on the Lucifer's existence. It speaks about him in Ezekiel, because he was originally an angel, more precisely a cherubim. Therefore even the Devil was intended originally for good and for the glory of God, but just like we can corrupted with evil, Lucifer was corrupted. I believe evil to be the absence of God, hell is about as distant from God as you can get. This however doesn't mean there's an in-between. I believe that even if you led a righteous life, if your do not choose God, you choose the absence of God and to distance yourself from Him. This means hell. We are doomed for hell as it is, but God sent Jesus to give us a path away from that fate and only through this path(Jesus) do we exit this inevitable fate. I do not know if this is backed up with scripture, however based on my experience studying the Bible, it's what rings true for me.

I don’t think that it is through works we are going to be saved but I think I that through confession of Jesus being lord and belief that Jesus died on the cross we are saved just like that, nooooo I think that we do have to follow Gods will and that’s what the Ten Commandments are for , for us to follow and abide by them, that’s why there is repentance and God says in the Bible that we are forgivin through Jesus, it’s because we do have to follow rules and have to put a little bit of work in to it, but yes I do believe through faith and confession we are like invited in ig you could say but I feel through doing the works of God we are truly saved

I think the question that young boy asked about our brain creating our own reality is true but what matters is what is the reality according to God because when we don't believe what God said about our reality there when the Satan can infiltrate and create the alternate reality in our brain. Our mind is a battlefield between what God said about us vs what Satan said about us. Like it said on the Bible the devil come to steal,kill and destroy but Jesus come to bless and give you life abundantly.(this is not the exact verses) So, I'll said a reality in your brain is valid but it doesn't meant that's the truth and the end of the story. From my personal experience what God said about my reality is the total truth for me because He is always plans for my goodness,my success,my joy,my peace and my freedom. Hope this will help you...

I believe there are many verses about your minds ability to create its own imagination. But in a way that tells us to be aware of it and its ability to lead us astray from the absolute truth of Jesus. Verses as 2 Corthinthians 10:5-6 reveals to us that we have ability to choose from a variety of choice if they are dependent on what we see through our eyes and perceive. 2 Corinthians 10:5-6 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; Tells us that we were created with the ability to make up our own thoughts and beliefs, in turn making our own minds up about things. God did not create us as robots but with free will to choose. I don't believe we come to faith because of our visual ability of seeing life through our eyes. There are many testimony of people in the Bible upto now explaining there path to faith in christ very differently. Different ways, decades, cultures, backgrounds, environment, people etc etc. Having to many variations with only one resembles the truth of Jesus bringing them together. Again, being a believing is much more than just a belief, it's life changing and impact your whole life for it to just be what you see.

i get what maddox is saying like you can’t force someone to believe in God with your words but through HIS word, it is different than OUR words. His word is the living word. So yes in his logic i would say God’s word is “3 dimensional.” That’s why God says lean not on your own understanding and read people the scripture of HIS word instead of only using your interpretation. Also, we are made in His image for the purpose of being a reflection of who God is.
