In this episode we talk about idols. Idols are defined as: "an image or representation of a god used as an object of worship". Whether we know it or not, anytime we put things or even people above God, we've made it an idol.

When you define idol and define worship and go from there, you realize that at any given time anything can become an idol if we're not intentional. We worship and idolize so much without even realizing it. I don't think we've watered down the power of the cross, I think we've normalized idolatry. We have idolized the cross by giving the cross "power and authority " that is only due to Jesus! Father I confess that I have idols and ask for the grace to turn away from my idols. In Jesus name. Amen!

I'm sure we all do!look at social media having women wanting these design er bags ans looks so bad- or the fake ass plastic surgery bodies the most!!!! 😂 they look crazy, unnatural asf & super disproportionate asf imo anyway,so im good on those! 😊 I wish more women especially would go without their makeup ans hair all doenup, the showy clothes ans tight/super reveling outfits. It'll humble you really fast. I will say this-- nothing wrong wirh taking pride in how you look if it makes u feel good and you do it for yourself and to keep up with yourself in a healthy way. Bc I do think God wants us to take proper care of our fleshly bodies. But ppl take it wayytoo far & then they act like they forget how they look without all that makeup, wigs, extensions, hairdye, lashes,nails, aurgery,etc. We should keep ourselves healthy respect our bodies by working out and staying naturally healthy & learn to be co fide the in our own skin.everyone is different. There is no ideal perfection or shape. I really do pray that this will become the normal in the future & be just as desired and accepted! Focus less on your looks to impress rhe opposite sex/ attract jealousy from other women, & put that energy and time or $ into your eternal soul!!!!! 💯 BEAUTY IS REALLYONLY SKIN DEEP. OUR INSIDE SOUL AN SHEART ANS MIND ARE WHAT MATTER ANS REALLY MAKE US OURSELVES!!!! I just know most everyone needs some good old fashioned humbling, to really se what it is for what it is.

Some christians do make the cross an idols just like the israelites brung the Ark of the covenant (symbol of God covenant with his people) when they were fighting against the Philistines, they reduced God power to a symbol when what they actually needed was the actual presence of God to defeat the Philistines

This is a great episode. And I think it really drove home, for me, why God gets jealous, and why the mind of God would drive us to wanting to understand how idolatry works. This is the way Lucifer was led astray. He became an idolater of himself. And he is clever in getting us, even seasoned christians to be in that mind state, by constantly telling us through music, social media, movies, etc., to put ourselves first. And not only just ourselves, but our fleshly desires. WOO! yaw got my mind on Jesus and the Holy Spirit is speaking to me right now. Thank you Thank you for this discussion. I love that you guys are having these discussions in real talk and not professional Christian lingo. I always wondered who told us that we need to idolize the cross , Jesus died on it yes , but when was it said that this is something we should put it our homes and bowed down in front of and put on jewelry and etc etc . We have decided it . The cross didn’t save us . The murdering of Jesus and him giving begging his father to give us grace is what saved us. The cross it self means nothing that’s how they murdered people back in the day many men died on crosses back then . They could have hung Jesus . Would we wear ropes around our necks ?They could have drowned him . Would we only pray while standing in water ? NO .

Funny enough with the tattoo thing, I have the creation of Adam on my neck (the two fingers pointing at each other) I got it as a reminder that God is always reaching out to us, and we as humans could have that connection just by a little bit of effort. I forget it exists because it’s on the back of my neck. That said, when people see it I’m sure they think nothing of it, but I’ve been able to share my faith via the tattoo a couple of times. So in some sense I want to tell the world “Hey I’m a Christian!” But it’s also a reminder for me to spread the word of God when someone asks about it. So I don’t idolize my tattoos, I think a lot of people with tattoos will agree with me when I say this; You tend to forget about their existence, but they’re a great conversation piece if they have deeper meaning to them

Love this podcast a lot of the conversations have been very insightful for my walk with God. I do however feel this topic should have been researched into scripturally before putting it out there on a platform, if we are unsure on certain subject matters. This helps to prevent personal opinions and experiences leading the conversations as opposed to what God has to say. As it could be causing other believers to stumble or affirming idolatrous behaviours. As Christ followers we are called to be others-centred and think about how our actions impact others whether our intentions are pure or not wearing a cross and tattoos represents our view on how to be in relationship with God and could cause others with lesser ‘ pure’ intentions to do the same. My personal stance is to be done with all of it and I do think that is supported scripturally. Why do we need to wear a cross or tattoo ourselves ? And what does it cost us to be done with it? Why take a chance on displeasing God or causing others to stumble? Love ❤️

The idol question… for me.. I have a tattoo… I have “forgiven” on my arm.. I know that we’re not to mess around our temple but it has literally been a reminder.. like a non-believer called me out with my attitude by pointing out my tattoo… I’m like.. “yeah… true..”

I just feel like if you’re not using the cross as an object of worship it’s not idolatry. Idolatry is literally making something an idol and worshipping it and giving it praise and glorifying it

I wear crosses for 2 reasons. One was mentioned: to represent and let the world know I am a disciple and follow Jesus, but two, because of Matthew 16:24 which says “Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me”. So for me it stands as a reminder that the “crosses” I carry in my day to day life are not in vain. There necessary for me to the will of God.

I got shot in my brain with a 45 hollowpoint and the bullet Literally exploded in my head and made my brain explode in it and when I died I died for 45 minutes flatlined comatose straight dead for 45 minutes the word says a day is unto a thousand years so you can do the math that's a long Conversation with the FATHER but if I tell you earthly things and you believe me not what makes you think you'll believe me when I speak of heavenly things so that's why I'm just sticking to what this flesh can understand and remember that's REPENT daily and workout your own soul SALVATION daily with fear and with trembling daily and make sure that your born again doing the will of the FATHER until judgment day because if your not your in your flesh and your carnality and going to hell simple as that church wake up n REPENT fast and daily GOD bless LOVE yall with the LOVE of CHRIST sir

I would say no … my cross is a representation of who I follow. It gives me no power but he that is within me and I also never seen anyone bow to the cross but I do bow to the earth and pray to my God💙 I wear my cross so people know that I proclaim the name of Jesus before all men. Remember if you deny him before men he will deny you before the father so it’s just one of the non verbal ways I let my decision be known

In the very beginning you guys spoke about the cross. It is reasonably to suggest anything can be made an idol this we know. I believe antecedent to the womans inquiry concerning the cross the cross ona jewelry or shirt etc was not treated as an idol by you guys but she drew attention to it which has now shaken the internal concious to ponder what if she is right? Should i have a cross now? With that kind of shaky concious if in the back of your mind you think it might be seen as idolatrous to wear a cross then don't wear it for conscious sake i refer you to [Romans 14:22-23]. When it comes to idolatry there are 2 ways to deal with it one that is not effective or efficient and the other that gets the job done. #1 You can either try to dodge every form of idolatry out there which is endless and you will potentially never reach the end of what you can idol or just love God first with all your heart and ensure He is Lord over your life. By Loving God first you assure nothing else is in 1st place. God bless you guys ✝️

Exodus 20:3-4 (not Exodus 20:30 :) For Believers and what is biblical definition of worship? Worship is when we give our deepest affections and highest praise to something. True worship of God is when we love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. It's when we prize God above everything else and put Him first in our hearts. As it says in Deuteronomy 6:4-5, “The Lord our God, the Lord is one! The Word says to worship God with our heart, soul, mind and strength......making a permanent marking/image such as tattoo or a lot in catholicism who worship the cross in crucifixcion and making the sign of the cross.....there is a lot of cross worship and heavy idolatry. Most especially a tattoo which is permanent graven image can cause another Christian to stumble. Love God/Jesus internally and living for Christ will show in our daily living. Sports celebrities kissing the cross and acknowledging God, should if Christian give honor by saying Jesus Christ....there are many gods. But say publicly Jesus Christ praise the name of Jesus. Catholics do pray to the cross. Just sharing. Can no longer water down idol worships but in today times keep it real. Blessings and thank you for allowing me to share. A cross is a idol if he is on it, or if he’s not. A idol does not have to be a person it can be an object. It’s a symbol of faith and/or protection, you don’t need anything outside yourself to worship God.

God does not want you idolizing pegan gods. All Glory is to him the one who sacrificed his life on the Cross at calvary and defeated death and paid the debt of our Sins, also defeated Satan and his angels through it. Satan hates seeing the cross.
