"if you're looking to get a chameleon veiled chameleons are known to be the most fiesty chameleons of all" Too late... I got one today...
@doroteabole36674 жыл бұрын
I'm joking I know that they're fiesty but they said that this one is handleable and it was while we were at their place but now... She opened her mouth while hissing at my hand so I'm gonna take my time to earn her trust from feeding her... Yeah btw she is a female who is 1 and a half years old and she was rehomed to me just a few hours ago... In so scared that she's egg bound because they said that they never saw her lay eggs, which is why I tried to take her out when she hissed at me so much. I left her alone for now, but I wanted to ask you, instead of putting her into another enclosure, can I just add like a hide that is more humid and warm into her enclosure? I don't wanna move her since she's so cage aggressive..

I just got my Cham today,She is 3 months old and she doesn’t mind being held I guess she just climbs on me😂I try not to bother her is there any advice you could give me on feeding at first?
@doroteabole36674 жыл бұрын
@@kaseymartin1691 omg that's so cute! You're so luckyy 😄 I guess that my baby wasn't handled very much before she was rehomed to me so I completely respect her with not wanting to be bothered. And for feeding, depends what you're having problems with. If you want we can go talk on Instagram, don't wanna spam here too much 😅

in short words, be a tree, at first be a tree that drops fruit(flies), then become a tree that has to be climbed over in order to get to the fruit, and never touch it directly, let the chameleon climb on you, like a tree that provides security and food, a moving tree

We purchased ours at a pet store at 8mos. old after signing a waver saying we were aware he could bite as he was never handled and was aggressive. After bringing him home he appeared to be aggressive but we realized it's fear and his cage is his place to feel secure so we placed it in our living area so he watched us all day. He gradually calmed down and would sit close to the door so I would open it and sit in front of him and pet the branches as he scurried away but 24hrs. later I put my hand under him and showed him I was not afraid of him which is so important he can't feel safe in your hand if your unsure. Yes he puffed up and acted like he would bite but pet the branch slowly take your hand out close the door and leave do this quite often through the day. Within the first 2 days I had him letting me rub his belly (never putting my hand above him) he was relatively patient about it. Within 3 days I was holding him and helping him to be comfortable with me which is so important but again don't come over him be at least level as you approach.He turned into a big baby after a couple months but I really am constant about giving attention and his being in the family room and seeing us constantly has helped. Now after almost 2 yrs. he is demanding at the door often but still hesitant as it's his cage but when I put my hand under his front legs and other hand at his back end he is comfortable and safe feeling as he crawls up my arm and I guess it's safe to say he awards me with his presence.They are so special but not a animal that is big on affection which I think to many people think they will be just don't give up - they need to trust you, their beautiful and very special. Today our male, Mr. Bruce is as curious of us as we are him and he allows me to hold him close often every day it's nice to know he feels safe as I have worked hard to gain that trust. NO REGRETS they honestly just take more time and work to trust but sooooo worth it.

I’ve had a baby chameleon for about a week now. He gets so annoyed with me, no matter what. He’s in my office, and watches me while I work. I’ve tried offering him crickets and wax worms by hand... he wasn’t having it, and puffed up, breathing hard, and turned dark green with black spots. I want him to get to know me, but I have a feeling it’s going to be hard. I don’t want him getting big and still not wanting anything to do with me. That would make it so hard to take care of him.
@godsdemon74412 жыл бұрын
Try this, open the cage door and let it climb out. Eventually it will realize it can't go anywhere. Then scoop him up from the sides. As time goes on, the open door will tell him your going to interact with him. Some days mine won't come out, so I don't bother him. After 1 year this is how he communicates to me he will allow me to spend time with him. He gets pissy when I reach in, so I use the door as his signal, in turn he's calm once out on the door.

Mine would come to the front of the cage trying to get my attention to be let out of cage. Liked to walk around the house on my shoulder. But i got him as a baby could lay on my thumb. I handled him alot as a baby.

Great video! I've had both Veiled and Panther Chameleons. For me they were very similar in personality, maybe I just got lucky. (I got them as little ones so maybe they didn't know they were Chameleons and were supposed to act bad or mean)I had a veiled about the size of yours, and when he was ready to go to sleep he would come out of his cage and crawl over and snuggle up to my neck. Both my Panther and Veiled would actually put their hands and chin on my face. So yes they can be very sweet once they know you are their caretaker. Thank you for taking the time to make this video and I subscribed. I'm looking forward to more.❤💕❤🐊

Hi, I really love your videos. I got a one month old vailed chameleon. He’s 2.5 months old now. I build a bigger cage habitat, planted 3 different plants, he only like crickets, and he teamed me. Everyone he get close to the door so that I let him out. Also, he loves going with me to pick up my wife at work. During the day he likes to stand on the window, laying down on my chest, also like to walk from one shoulder to the other one and also likes to get on my hat wile I’m driving. Thank you for all your advice and videos. Really helpful!!!

I'm so in love with veiled chameleons it's ridiculous. Not good enough a reptile keeper to keep one yet, but I'll get there, hopefully. Definitely going to be a veiled though. I love their attitude, and an animal that shows when it's stressed out is worth a lot to a newbie.

I got my veiled chameleon yesterday she's 5 months old and is very friendly from what we've seen so far , which is handling her for 5 minutes for putting her into her new habitat , I'm hoping to build trust with her and that she can be as mellow as possible I understand she may be sassy at times but I'm willing to work with her and she's just so gorgeous it's hard to not love her, I've named her Karma. Just wondering how long it will take her before she starts eating as she's drank already but isn't showing interest in her food currently, thank you for this video , very helpful ☺

My panther chameleon is 3-4 months old and a couple times I tried feeding by hand holding it below him and he still hissed. Sometimes he eats off my hand without hissing. What should I do? Keep trying? Is it because he is young and that when he grows up he’ll be more friendly?

"Ricardo" is about 4 months old (my estimate). He's extremely shy and I haven't been able to even get him to eat from my hand. I do take him out of his enclosure a couple of times a week for a few minutes. I've had veiled chameleons in the past that were tamer and would eat readily from my hand. I'm wondering if this is just his individual personality.

@ameliabackholm14116 жыл бұрын
Hailea Frommelt I think a male is easier! Females lay eggs even if they haven’t been mated. Males are just a little easier because you won’t have to deal with eggs. Hope that helped.
@hfromm6 жыл бұрын
amelia backholm Yes! Thank you! Do the males need a bigger enclosure or anything special?
@ameliabackholm14116 жыл бұрын
Hailea Frommelt The males are a little bit larger than females. I don’t think the gender will matter on the size of your tank. But bigger tank is always better.
@reptiliangarden6 жыл бұрын
Totally agree with what she said! The females tend to not live as long as males and there is a chance for them to become egg bound which is a big result of their death most often. The males are usually a little larger and more colorful and live longer. 💕

Angie Tone Hey... chameleons are insectivores, so you have to feed your chameleon insects. Strawberries are not part of a chameleons diet at all. If you’re uncomfortable with feeding him insects, I’d recommend finding him a new home.
