In my experience stray cats and abandoned dogs make the best pets. Once you prove your love for them overtime, they transform into the happiest, most loyal, most well behaved animals. I have a pit who spent her life in and out of shelters, getting adopted, being dropped back off, and when I first seen her she looked so sad, and it was literally heartbreaking. She was super anxious, super clingy, and was very bothersome at first, and really she still has her days, but she turned out to be the best dog I could of ever asked for. She still gets under my skin at least once a day, but she brings a smile to my face and warmth inside from every other moment. Except when she snores, no matter how hard I try, its extremely difficult to tolerate. Thank god that its not every night.

It's so wonderful! I got a feral when he was about 2 years old, and when I had him fixed and made him into a house cat, he purposely walked an inch away from my leg and refused to touch me. One day a few months after we were cohabitating, I was lying down for a nap and he had started lying down by my lower leg, which I hated, because I have restless legs. Out of the blue, he stood up and started walking towards my face. I was scared, but he wasn't in an attack position, so I just stayed put. He put his mouth to mine. Pulled away and did that two more times while the tears were running down my face. Then he turned around and walked back to my leg. He was asking for a little more time, but telling me he liked and trusted me. He passed at 21 years old.

Watched me almost the whole time, and i just sat there watching videos on youtube. The kitty ended up being with me for several years before i found its forever home.

Yeah this tutorial is terrible, it’s pretty much harassing them until they are used to it, the best way to tame is treat taming, let them cool off for a couple days after capture then let them try a couple treats from a bowl, find their fav, then keep giving them that treat every day in the bowl, then take the treat away for a couple days, and reintroduce the treat but in your hand, and only ever let them eat it from your hand again, an animals desire for a favorite food will overcome almost any fear/trauma

Aww really? A stray cat immediately loves me in just 2 hours? I met a stray cat in front of my house and it came to me by itself, i was sitting on my porch with my phone, and the cat suddenly walks to me and rubs their body to me and i petted it, i found out it was a boy, I petted him for 2 hours and the stray cat shows his belly ❤ i just fed him today

yeah feral means it's never been with humans before, which will make them much more fearful than a stray

I fostered feral cats for the SPCA for many years. You can't imagine the feeling when you've taken a cat that is scared of everything and everyone and has nothing to fear in its life show that trust and make them gentle weather feeling like that

You are depressed, you say? Find a kitten and tame it. Spend your time and energy loving and caring for it and if you’ve done well, it’s will love you back. That’s true happiness :)

Yeah, about that It's not the same game with stray cat v'been feeding one since 2 years Still can't touch it So it just reinforces the idea that I will never be loved 🥲

please do not bring another living being in your life if you are not in the right headspace. if you cannot care for yourself you cannot sufficiently care for someone or something else alive. too many times we have had neglected cats, dogs, birds, etc. come into our shelters. these are living beings, not objects to play with

Oh- one more thing too! When first going in for a pet while the kitten is afraid, avoid reaching your hand over their head as it may remind them of birds of prey. It’s best to reach your hand beneath their head and try to give them a cheek scritch so they don’t feel too threatened. That’s one sweet cat tho, ty for showing them love ^^

Tamed two feral kittens (7months) outside. It took half a year, but they started off by running away at the slightest sound and ended up discovering that receiving pets was something they could no longer live without. You'd never believe that they used to be so scared of me They're both still very much alive and I've been feeding them throughout the whole journey. They now sit on top of me and rest their heads on my hands until I pet them. Both are glued to me.

Reminds me of my 2 rabbits. They were so scared at first. After a while they always ran to me. They even noticed when I came home and stood at the door before I entered. They follow me everywhere and sleep in my bed always. They will always be my little babies I will protect with all I have 😊❤

a good way to tell if a cat is too stressed to interact with is if they're panting. cats do rarely pant when it's hot, but more often panting is a sign of very acute stress in cats. if your feral kitten is panting make sure the area isn't too hot and give it some space :) this is a wonderful video

Once upon a time I had a group of foster kittens that were already six weeks old and they were very feral. I had as many friends as possible come over to socialize the kittens after the first few days when they started to get to trust me. The organization took them back 2 weeks later and they were all adopted. Socializing kittens text effort but it's very worth it.

I had a stray cat outside for a year. After feeding and watering her, i got her comfortable enough to let me pet her, then pick her up, and then for her to enter my home, then to interact with my current cats. Then one day i picked her up and took her inside. Shes now my little princess. Pink collar and all.
