This is a fairly docile feral cat, was likely being fed by people her whole life but just didn't have a home or human touch. Or isn't over the anesthesia all the way yet? She will be a wonderful house cat, beautiful torbie I wish I could of found her ♥ Using food is a major part to taming cats. Boy, the black and white cat I caught was not as easy as her sister I caught first and she wiggled out of being scuffed and went flying all over the room like some Spiderman and back into the animal trap. 😂 But then she was left to cool down and then she let me pet her, move her and hold her. Hopefully I can find her a home.

Thank you @slate2720 so very much for watching our video and taking time to comment. We really appreciate that. This feral cat decided to be camera shy and did not attack when the camera was out for some reason. I suppose it was a diva feral cat. LOL. In any case, this process helped with all 4 cats. Have a GREAT Day.

My feral kitten got loose in my room. He hides when I try to approach him. How do I get him back into containment? I need to get him to a vet but I have to socialize him first. I socialized two of his sisters already, but he's really wild. I have no intention of getting rid of him.

Wow, well that didn’t take so long. That’s super amazing. That was an easy kitten. I just caught one about 3 months old. I wonder how she/he will do? It was living under my shed and got his foot caught in the fence, and my husband was a hero and rescued it for me, we’ll see how it goes. I’m still skeptical of him.

Thank you @gracehall9199 so very much for watching our video and taking time to comment. We really appreciate that. Actually this kitten in the thumbnail and featured in the video took a bit to completely tame. It just took me awhile to decide to start videoing the process (as you can see from the other kittens already fully tamed in the video). The cat (Dusty) was always more attracted to my wife than to me. In fact, just a few months ago she finally came up and sat on my lap instead of my wife's lap. The cat STILL does not appreciate being picked up though. Still working on it. Have a GREAT Day.

I am surprised to see you putting a new cat in with a cat they don’t know. Not only could they fight but you should always quarantine a new cat for two weeks. They can pass on diseases or ringworm etc.
@ResslerMania3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. Sorry I did not make it clear enough in the video, but they were all from the same litter and were found in my backyard. They were born together and lived together and were caught within a week or so from each other. But yes, if you get multiple cats from multiple different sources you would have to quarantine them from each other.

I have 2 feral cats living outside my house. We have been feeding them for about a year but they only let me get close to them when there is food. We are considering trapping one and putting it in a room to socialize and get used to our presence. Is there any alternatives for this?
@ResslerMania2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Imaginary so very much for watching our video and taking time to comment. We really appreciate that. The younger the cat, the easier it is to socialize. In my limited experience there is no real alternative that I have found. Hopefully another viewer can help with an alternative technique. Good luck and Have a GREAT Day.
@expatleanie2 жыл бұрын
For that I would simply tnr them and return them to outside your house.. Feral cats over a year are very challenging to tame. It’s doable but it takes a lot of time, patience ,& dedication.. from.. btw there is nothing wrong with returning them to your neighbourhood after tnr.. they may need to recover from surgery first but after that .. they are ok.. they might still hang around your house outside but at least they will be fixed and your cat colony won’t become more..
@josie4peace11 ай бұрын
I would trap BOTH of them, since they are used to being together. It's easier with two. In fact, I recently trapped two (think they are siblings) and 3 weeks in they are purring instead of hissing! They are about 10 months old.

Yes, it takes a LOT of patience and on their terms. I'm still trying to win over a feral in MY home. She's no longer hissing and finally purring, but I don't dare pick her up, lol.
@heisreturningsoon108510 ай бұрын
@@josie4peace try squatting down and getting her to come near you with treats as you pet her on the sides and rub her chest and under the chin; don't grab or reach from the top of her head. When she is comfortable, reach around her sides and pick her up and hold her for a moment, then put her right back down. Do this repeatedly until she softens. Finally then, hold her, still from a squatting position, hold her for a moment or two and put her down again....then in a few days instead of squatting down, stay standing and bending down pick her up and bring her up with you as you rise to standing and repeat the holding her for a moment or two and then put back down. Always praise her and give her treats as you do these exercises. Just go slow, let her take her time to not care anymore and over a couple weeks, she should easily be ready to walk around with you holding her! You should be able to increase your time holding her and putting her down each time. Consistency is key. My feral boy is now jumping on my desk craving my attention!! He was just like yours! I did this with him and still squat down for him (get on his level) to give him treats and remind him I understand he is special. :) He isn't like some of my others who are "lap cats", but he has improved GREATLY since I have been doing this with him.

I wonder if you'll get this. I want to socialize 4 x 10 week old kittens. Extremely wild! I have them in the toilet - about 2,5 meters by 2,5 meters. I feel so bad for locking them up in that tiny room. They're in there now for a week but they're still very wild. When can I let them out of the room?
@ResslerMania3 жыл бұрын
Thank you MedWebExperts so very much for watching our video and taking time to comment. We really appreciate that. My personal unprofessional opinion is to do what we did. Get a socialization cage (portable enclosed dog cage that you see in the video with the accessories) and bring them into the living room area if you have room. This lets them see what is going on around them, hear the sounds, and get used to the human(s) around them. this helped in our situation, which is all I can really comment on. Perhaps someone else who sees this will have another/better idea. Hope this helps. Have a GREAT Day.

How soon should you take them too the vet? I'm trapping a feral kitten now but I'm worried about bringing fleas or anything into my home before I can take her to a clinic. Will i be able to handle her to give her a bath straight from her trapping cage?
@ResslerMania3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Kori-Ann Taylor so very much for watching our video and taking time to comment. We really appreciate that. I was told a kitten can be spade and neutered after 9 weeks, the same with flea medicine, but it is hard to tell the age of feral kittens. Have a GREAT Day.
@josie4peace11 ай бұрын
You can put Capstar (crushed tablet) in their food. I did this recently the night before trapping. That way, the fleas fall off outside. I waited a few days for the vet, so she wouldn't be even more traumatized.

Usually the older the feral cat is, the harder it is to socialize. However, in your case, it seems the cat is at least used to interacting with humans so is not fully feral. There may be a good chance of being successful. Good luck 👍

@@johnnyestrada4687 If its not hissing, spitting or biting the easier it will be. Tempt them with food and keep them in a small enclosure and increase to a room then bigger space. The kitten in the video seems receptive but scared

May I recommend tasty high quality lunch meat? I have two extremely sweet toms from a litter that I rescued from an eviction of super filthy dope dealers. It took a hot minute, but the allure of tasty meat won them over. They are now two of the most affectionate and devoted cats I have shared space with in my 66 years on earth. They paid me back by keeping me sane for the last year. Sadly, their mother and brother fell prey to a #@%$ panther. Needless to say, my guys are now strictly indoors.

Thank you Mike Louis so very much for watching our video and taking time to comment. We really appreciate that. So sorry to hear about the panther attack. The reason why we did not go with the lunch meat right away is because we did not know how old the kittens were, exactly, and if they could digestively handle the tougher to digest lunch meats. Hope that clears up our reasoning. Have a GREAT Day.
