Of course it's the Florida man that tried befriending a Cassowary 😂
my father found this egg when i was a kid. he had a liquor store and it just was just lying on the floor once (no idea how it got there or how it even would survive a fall or whatnot) he kept it and it hatched to have a crow in it. so we kept it. hes name was gerard and we had him for over 20 years. we taught him to say a few things. he always came with me to school and waited outside until i came out again and then ride on my shoulder while i was riding my bike home. i think he had a special liking for me since i always gave him cheese cubes lol. the funniest story about him was when my little sister was about a year old and my grandmother used to spend her winters in Spain. my mother was trying to teach to my little sister to say Oma which means grandma in Dutch. so during weeks my mother was repeating the word Oma to my little sister who didnt give a flying fuck about it and refused to speak anything until she was 3 years old haha. well all of a sudden my mother was like oma oma oma to my sister and she hears from the storage room of the liquor store the crow saying omaaaaa ooooomaaaaaa! it was his favorite word. so anyway thank for reading the whole comment, i just never had the chance to tell anyone about it on the interweb! tldr dad found a egg, a crow hatched and it leaned to speak dutch.

There's some level of temperament involved in whether you can tame an animal too. My sister and I tried to tame some feral kittens that were born in our yard when we were younger. We interacted with them from a very young age, and one of them is the sweetest most people-loving cat I have ever met, while his sister ended up completely feral despite our efforts.

I live in Australia. Almost inner suburbs of a large city. In our previous house, where we lived for 7 years I befriended a pair of Kookaburras. ( They began nesting in one of our trees the 1st year we were there.) Every year, except one, they would come and peck the possum in his possum box high in the tree. He would leave for about 3 months, till they were done nesting. The year he wouldn't leave was a longer, colder winter than usual, he refused to leave. The Kookas nested 2 houses over. So the adult Kookas knew my voice, and their young learned to recognise it by familiarity. So I could call, and if they were near home, down they would all come. Fed out of my hand. FYI Kookas are meat eaters.( Don't ever feed birds mince. It gives them rickets) also, the adult Kookas would bring the young ones over to me, but would take the food from my hand to feed the baby. The babies rarely came by themselves until much older. The year they nested elsewhere, I went out and called them. Mum and dad were obviously away hunting. 2 young ones came right over to me. Very unusual for them to do that without the parents. Must of been fed up waiting for the parents to come back. ( sneak in a tasty meal without them knowing. ) Most amazing feeling sitting outside becide them on the ground, and they go into full on Kooka call. Always felt like them telling everyone 'I'm theirs!' Miss my Kooka buddies!

Ravens are extremely intelligent. I used to live in an apartment that had loads of them in the area. One day when I was walking home from the grocery store, two ravens were having a spat in the air above my head. I yelled at them to knock it off, just out of frustration and not expecting them to stop, and they stopped. I said my thanks and passed through the area and when I was further down the road they continued their squabble. I don’t know if that was dumb luck or if they understood my frustration but it was an interesting experience.
