@Luv.Gracee3 жыл бұрын
I’d say, maybe do research on different birds and see what one fits your life style! If your looking for a chill bird I’d say a cockatiel, they like to cuddle and very gentle (depends in their personality)If you want more of a hyper bird that’s smaller maybe a budgie! But I’d recommend doing research on the bird you want or birds in general:)

I'd suggest one at least 27x24 inches or so, as this provides plenty of room for them to play and roam about. If money is tight, you may want to check out second-hand cages that have already been used - they tend to be much cheaper!

Patience, positive reinforcement, and personal space will be your three keys to success! Patience - Not everything will go according to plan at first, but that's okay! Birds (especially small prey species) will take time to trust humans. Don't give up! Positive reinforcement - Be sure to reward your bird with praise or treats if they make progress! This can include when they're calm, if they come up to you, or if they land on you in a desired location. Millet can work pretty well as a treat, just make sure they don't have much of it in their normal diet. Personal space - While you don't want to give up, you WILL want to respect your bird's wishes through it's body language. If it doesn't want to be touched, don't touch it. If it doesn't want to interact, pause on the interaction for a bit. This will help prevent you from getting bitten and your bird from stressing out much further. For specific activities, you can try out... * Different forms of training (target and/or clicker) * Talking or singing to your bird * Making food or toys around your bird * Offering occasional treats * Generally hanging out and carrying on normal life. * Get on their level (literally!) by kneeling or sitting on the floor! * Move slowly, freeze, or back off when you see your bird getting a bit overwhelmed. Best of luck taming your birdie friend!

If your bird knows how to step up then it would be as easy as anything and if it's not then take a perch or a ladder or anything that your bird likes to sit on and place it in front of him and make him sit on it and then slowly take him back to the cage. This trick works every time even for an untamed cockatiel without even stressing him. I hoped I could help you😃

@lizziehn59283 жыл бұрын
A lot of books aren't super great since they can't easily be updated, anything more than five years old is often out of date. However, there's a great book called "Budgierigar, How a brave, chatty, and colorful little Aussie bird stole the world's heart" that I was fortunate to come across recently. It covers the history of budgies in captivity, not so much the care aspect, but it's still worth a read.

You can try by starving the bird for 1-2 hours, then offer it millet to step up

Train her everyday for one to two times by offering her millet. Do not force her to step up. Let her do it by herself. I taught my 4 cockatiels to step up in the same way I hope I could help😃
@lizziehn59283 жыл бұрын
@@natashagrace4474 Starving a bird is not very healthy at all, as they have a very fast metabolism compared to ours and can get sick real easily if deprived of food. It's better to use their eating times to our advantage and begin training before they have their morning munch.
