Thank you for this! Came back to comment that this helped SO much. I’ve never been able to do the outside change of edge on any spin. The guard trick is what sealed the deal! Do you have a video on the inside change of edge back camel? I can do it on a sit, but not camel 😅

With the change of edge, and shift of weight, does the spin occur on a different part of the blade after the edge change? When I used to do that spin, it would feel as if I were spinning around the arch of my foot instead of the ball of the foot.

Is it necessary to change edges for doing camel spin? does changing edges apply to other spins? Thanks

Thank you for your question. It is not necessary to change edge on a traditional camel spin (and not recommended unless you are doing it intentionally - I’ve had skaters do it accidentally and it did not end well). At the higher levels in IJS changing edge on a camel spin or a forward sit spin is a feature in order to gain more points
