I really liked this update on this subject and the nuanced explanations about body language and food use. Nice video for all levels of understanding.

My yorkie thinks all beds are just big toys to move and shred. I’ve tried so many times.. I put them away take out again . He is now 1 and half and it’s the same thing. And he is crated and not spoiled. I have always treated him like a big dog as far as training goes. He does not have any stuffed toys as they are shredded in 10 min or less. Even Kong toys with material over them. All his toys are safer rubber.

My puppy has an issue with treating beds like big toys, and when he gets bored will start to rage on them, just going crazy biting and tugging on them and dragging them around the floor. Is there a way to discourage this besides just taking the bed away?

1. Is this the same as “place”? I’ve always seen place on a raised cot type bed. 2. If not, can you do both…place for a raised mat and bed for a fluffy bed, saying “place” and “bed” to differentiate? 3. If the dog gets on place or bed on her own, she can get off in their own, right? But if I put her there, then I need to release? 4. Does the “place” or “on your bed” command require teaching the “stay” command? Or is that implied in the “on your bed” command training?

Can a 7 month, or older, puppy still learn this? Are they too old at this age?

Don't worry, you can train a dog this at any age ☺️ it might just take a little longer!

My 6 year old rescue Maltese doesn't want to sleep on any bed. Bought 4 different beds, diff styles, tried the treats, played on the bed, moved the bed, nothing, still sleeps under my bed and lies on the floor. 😒
