If your Ridgeback doesn't like their name you're going to struggle. Of they like they're name it takes a couple of times to teach it. Even with renaming them. Renamed mine, he hated the name he came with and preferred to answer to "dog". I gave him a say in what he was called and it took a couple of times using his name for him to get it. They're an intelligent and head strong dog - compromise goes a long way. Also talking to your dog consistently and telling them what they are doing helps them to learn language and meaning. Assuming that a dog won't learn enough language to get by is really underestimating their intellect.

The whole point is to teach a dog it’s name. This is a RIDGEBACK channel, so of course he put the name of the breed. This video is valuable if you actually pay attention. But to each their own
