That was good information. I can probably get mine working again. I like em. You do have watch yourself with them,they can hurt you. Thanks alot. I appreciate it

You are correct that you have to be careful w/ their use. But then again you have to be careful with a grinder, drill press, and even a shop vac. Learning how to use them correctly is very important. Thank you for watching.

Thanks for the Video. It answered the question I had about having to replace my pins and springs. They're dirty not worn.👍💯. I'm using it for stump and brush pulling this project.

Thanks for the video. I just bought a "brand new" Hi-Lift jack that arrived with a lower bent cross pin. It would not lower the vehicle so I bought a repair kit, replaced all the parts and it still won't lower the vehicle. Now it even won't free fall with no weight on it. Yes, I did lube it. I noticed that while trying to lower the vehicle, the top climbing pin doesn't want to move out of the hole. Without any weight on it, it does slide in and out easily like the bottom climbing pin. I'm at a loss.
@TheRightLine2 жыл бұрын
My upper pin does that periodically, I lube it, and it generally takes care of it. Thanks for watching 👍👍.
@2-old-Forthischet2 жыл бұрын
@@TheRightLine yup, lubed it up many times but it still doesn't move when trying to lower it. I saw another Ew Toob video that claims brand new Hi Lift jacks have too much paint near the pins so will try that tomorrow or another day. I guess made in America isn't what it used to be.

@@TheRightLine my next step is to do a complete tear down of this brand new jack.
@2-old-Forthischet2 жыл бұрын
Took a break from this jack from hell and attacked it again today. Tore it down for the umpteenth time, smoothed out every painted surface, made the Exon Valdez oil spill look like kids play and now it won't even go up! After a few choice four lettered words I noticed that the reversing switch cam bar doesn't want to stay in the groove for it and is binding the climbing pins. Judging by your video and others, I think maybe the reversing switch spring is too tight. I really have to wrestle with it to get it back in position and even when I do, it doesn't allow the reversing switch cam bar to stay in place in the groove. Another thing is that I have to hit the reversing latch with a large tool of some sort to get it in the down position. I've seen others having to do this also. My bottle jack is looking a lot better.

Good job Chad !! I tore mine completely down like you a couple of years ago and my pins looked good also . I went a little further and painted it and made a mount for inside of my Jeep ( Bodie ) so it would stay out of the elements . I spray lube mine every 2 to 3 months just to make sure it works when or if I need it . Happy Holiday's to you and your family . Until next time take care .

My climbing pins have a lot of rust. Should I paint them after I knock the rust off?
@TheRightLine3 жыл бұрын
No. If you paint them they won't move appropriately. Lightly remove the rust, then make sure to keep them lubricated. Or, replace them.

Question ❓ ❓ ⁉️ I found one someone threw it out on the side of the road I would like to know were you got them parts from and about how much they are in contrast to the device it self and it was a little bit of a mess rusty grim I truly did not know parts were replaceable on this thing till I started looking for other info on it's uses yeah it's a bit sticky and a part of that till now has little to do with its new owner it's the reasons it was found by me got gumed up and stoped working so I can fix this monster and have a slick looking jack I can do more then lift my truck with Thank you in advance

My local 4x4 shop had them on the self. The parts kit has sat in my toolbox for years. They weren't terribly expensive.

My Hi-Lift goes up but NOT DOWN! I have already done maintenance on it. Please help. Thanks
@TheRightLine3 жыл бұрын
The most likely reason is that the climbing pins are not moving as they should. Try squirting some wd-40 on the climbing pins.
@joshblomquist46963 жыл бұрын
I followed what you did but I keep running into the same problem. It goes up but not down. I can’t figure out why. I’ve taken it apart like 3-4 time and still it won’t go down
@TheRightLine3 жыл бұрын
You could have a bent climbing pin or it might have a bur or something on it that won't let it travel back and forth.

The most likely problem is the climbing pins are dry. Try squirting some WD-40 on the climbing pins during operation and see if that helps.

The climbing pin do hold the weight
@TheRightLine Жыл бұрын
Actually, the upper and lower runners hold the weight.
@steveprimm79439 ай бұрын
Without the pins, don't the runners just slide freely along the rail? The connection between load, runner, and rail appears to be the climbing pins.

Man, the way that Lift-Mate just sits on the foot looks a little janky. No pin to hold it in place?

WD-40 is not a lubricant. It does not call itself a lubricant. It is a water displacer and a penetrating fluid. Shortly after you use WD-40, the affected area will resume rusting. Please be kind to your HLJ and give it some real lubricant. -sc, ME, USA
