Half way thru the video (at work) I sent an email to a potential client using a story...this client had not responded to multiple phone calls and emails for over 3 weeks...I got a positive reply within 1 hour. Sweet.

You are so right, in recalling stories. Just recently I was recalling my childhood, "I remember when"...

This was a an amazing video! I took plenty of notes. Thank You Michael, I've been watching half a dozen of your videos. They're really going to help me with my Insurance Sales Presentations. I make the mistake of sharing facts and benefits, but never a benefit or urgency story. Thank you so much!!

This was a great video! It shows just how us humans aren't creatures of logic, but emotion. We have to focus on enhancing a positive feeling in someone by telling them great stories that will activate all their senses and make them act! Thanks again!

Your voice reminds me of Tony Robbins. Great video and tips. I'll be back to post my success after mastering your methods for effective storytelling. I know what you said is true and wouldn't have realized it if I hadn't watched your transformational video. Thanks!

~ A Story needs to be memorable, people should recall it within several hrs to yrs :44 ~ Reason why stories are so persuasive: allow people to come up with the answer for themselves, nobody wants to be told what to do 1:28 -The power is in them comming up with their own answer ~I have to know the diff. types of stories w/ diff. meanings 2:11 -point of a story is that it has a meaning & a metaphor *Story types: Parallel, Motivational, benefit, urgency ~2 Crucial types of Stories I must master for sales 3:00 -Benefit Story: The testimonial of how my product benefited another person, so they can imagine how it'll to benefit them 3:25 *Secret to a benefit story: is a value added benefit that is above & beyond what I'm going to explain in my presentation/demonstration 4:36 *Ex: Vitamin benefit story, its Feature is the vitamin itself, its benefit is the regulation of blood flow, its value added benefit: it helps to break bad habits such as eating junk food & he told all this in a testimonial story of one of his clients who was able to break her sugartime bad habit, which really demonstrates how powerful stories are 4:46 -Urgency Story: it allows people to know the difference between knowing whether to move forward now or take their time 4:12 *Ex: Buying $10kg's of Apple Computers & gear in the recession of the 2000's in 2009, There was an abnormal amount of ppl there because of the low Apple Stock prices which soared up from $200 to $500, he never noticed because he didn't realize of the opportunity that was infront of him 7:53 *Urgency story doesn't have to be related at all to what I'm selling, it's just to get the point of urgency across, a point where it was a good idea to move now or where there was a missed opportunity for something great ~These 2 types of stories get in their heads, creates a parallel between me, them & a decision they should make 10:22 ~Secret to make these stories effectively work: Is what I say b4 the story begins, A Recall! *for a Benefit story the Recall is: Have you ever? 10:37 *for an Urgency Story the Recall is: Can you remember? ~Recall: Is Critical & the only way to make the story work, Use it before a story 11:14 ~Future Recall: At the Close, Recall to bring up anchor of emotions & experience 11:53

That would be funny when I saw the comment I thought wow Tape.. Then I looked the blue "Tape" is a Ribbon and Medal for completing a 1/2 Marathon yet the tape may be a more fun story yet less of an accomplishment :) Thanks for watching...

good points , and stories are friendly people like friendly people . I guess the urgency story could be slightly ironic particularly if it happened to you after having heard the urgency story. the benefit story is also called the jones effect...I bumped into this man a couple of streets back, he just happened to be a previous customer, he said tell them its good. .. but tell genuine stories please and really benefit and save your customers or it might not be good.

I think you've missed the boat on what distinguishes a benefit from a feature. You mentioned examples like GPS or auto-locking car doors. Those are simply upgraded features. A benefit would be something like "the safest way to get your children to school in the morning." It's the intangible value of the product that you get when you purchase or use that product. Take a Snicker's bar. The tangible features are chocolate, peanuts, caramel, calories, etc. The benefit (as hilariously demonstrated by their commercials) is that a Snicker's bar satisfies your cravings and keeps you from being "hangry". True "value add" benefits are typically intangible, not upgraded features.

What about the seven basic plots? You are focussing more on theme life benefit story etc. every product wants to be a benefit story but thats not enough. you also have to make it clear how you helping your consumer in his quest or voyage or rebirth etc.
