So many videos about ignition coil diagnosing, some use devices that are expensive and i will not use again until another coil goes bad. But this video went straight to the point, helped find out the bad coil in a few minutes and got my car back to purring like a baby, thank you so much.

Thanks bro. I'm super glad you tested a new one

Great video. Just tested coils in 5 min and found the one I suspected was causing issues due to a old valve cover gasket issue and it sitting in oil for an extended period of time at some point. Now I'll grab 1 coil instead a whole set for no reason. Thanks!!

@@octaviojabali6981 I still prefer redneck method just swap it to another cylinder if your miss moves it’s diagnosed.

@@TheDIYDoc thank you just so your viewers know i hove a dodge promaster the boot sometimes breaks so what I do is replace the head of coil it separates and there is a long spring i elongated it and it works without removing the stuck boot that is if you’re not replacing spark plug 👍

Amazing tutorial! I am measuring the ignition coils to my truck, Primary should read 0.6 - 0.9 Ohms. Multimeter set on 200, the readings I am getting are; Coil one 02.5; Coil three 01.9; Coil five 01.6; Coil seven 01.8; Coil two 02.6; Coil four 02.3; Coil six03.8; Coil eight 03.6. When I set the multimeter on 200 on the screen it shows 1. Do I extract the 1 out of the readings?

Make sure yall follow. Page is fairly new but I’m posting often!
@TheDIYDoc10 ай бұрын
Hmmmm are you sure they’re supposed to be 0.6-0.9? And no you don’t subtract 1. Higher the resistance the older the coil and the less voltage it will produce. High resistance is bad for voltage flow.

I just tested my motorcycle one, the range is supposed to be 1.6 to 1.8 ohms and I got 2.5. Does this mean it’s bad?
@TheDIYDoc10 ай бұрын
No. That’s small range. If it runs it’s fine. I wouldn’t even check em unless you’re having a miss. Mild increase in resistance isn’t an indicator it’s bad

@@chipsisshook1741 check spark plug. Ignition coil. Compression. It’s one of those things long as getting gas to it. What was ohms on other coil? Similar or different.
@TheDIYDoc10 ай бұрын
If other coil is 1.6-1.8 then yes that 2.5 is prob bad. As resistance increases forage decreases could be causing weak spark

Im checking my ignition coils. Kia rio. 4cylinder Output is 5.99 , 5.96 , 6.06 , 6.06. Are they fine or must i change

Usually if one goes bad you have to change them all

Good info . Question in my multimeter In ohms I have the choice of 200 and 200k, where do I put it to 200 or 200k?
@TheDIYDoc3 ай бұрын
@@ramone.1021 200.
@AutonomyMotors2 ай бұрын
As you are looking at 6k+ Ohms then you have to select the the nearest available range, so you might have 200, 2k, 20k, 200k etc, therefore you would need the 20k as 2k won't read when testing. If you only have 200k as your next option that is what you select, but knowing what ohms your looking for will then determine where your Decimel place will be.

If I’m doing this on a motorcycle, my coils look the exact same btw, but should I just replace all of them while I’m at it? I’ll be testing mine tomorrow.
@TheDIYDoc10 ай бұрын
On a motorcycle likely only 2. Also they are likely a different configuration and set up.
