Hey, I have a GSD female from Roxie and Vito dandico. That dog is one hell of beast. First GSD owner here, I gotta say I had to spend a few thousands in training, not for her, but for me to get used to the breed. Specifically THAT line. I met Roxie a few times and she's a sweetheart. Haven't seen her work though. Mine is about a 14 months old now, no health issues so far, great posture and hips, but be prepared for a mouthy, strong headed dog. She's extremely smart, courageous, sensitive and has a lovable personality but is very impolite with other dogs, very intense. She surprised us our first time camping as a puppy, my girlfriend took the paddleboard out on the lake and the dog, having never swam, seen water or boats, jumped off the dock, into a rowboat, into the water to ''save'' my girlfriend and swam all the way to her (a hundred feet maybe). Any other people touching us or dogs jumping on us and she absolutely WILL let them know what,s up. Our trainer has another working line GSD which is the only dog she gets along with because they match each others energy (In a regular, dog park like setting). As for Roxie's side, her foster family is amazing and a great environment for puppies to grow up in. BUT, that working line is NOT for the average joe, they are reactive dogs and if the issue is not adressed, they WILL develop bad behaviours. Dandicos as many other lines are very sweet but mouthy as puppies but the genetics start to show towards 6 months so what you see at first is not what you get (We didnt know that lol). They are a lot to handle but when given the right environment, they thrive and reward you tenfold. Physically, mine is a larger female, she fluctuates between 75 to 80 lbs - her sister which we have seen is about the same. Short sable coat, easy to maintain. Prey drive for us didn't develop until 8 months which made training interesting. She used to be food motivated but switched overnight. Now she craves toys and balls as rewards. We potty trained her in a week and she learned the basic dog tricks surprisingly fast. Be prepared to have a bully stick/chew toy budget if you are not very active to keep them busy. Overall, she's a very difficult dog to handle for us mere mortals but we wouldn't change her for the world. She brings out the best of us and has made us feel much safer in the home. I figured my comment should explain what it's like to have one of those if you're not into the working dog life. You will have to eventually as you have no choice if you want to have a GOOD (happy and balanced) dog. ENglish is not my first language so I apologize for the mistakes I may have made. If anyone has any questions about owning one of those let me know, I'll gladly help you! Alex

My husband and have been fortunate enough to have had the most exceptional dogs during our married life of 33 years. We always chose rescue puppies of large mix breed, male and the most important, the runt. They have all been working protectors.

Pups look great and the first female was great. Nice Arowana in the aquarium as well.

Kind of a sad setup though, not much enrichment or plants for the fish.

I love the generalizations you provide. And that you tell people the truth that it could change down the line and the middle of the road dog may end up being the best one. Really enjoyed your info on the pedigree. This is something I wish I understood better. A video on learning and reading pedigrees would be great.

excellent pedigree and very nice colors and pigment on the pups,i had the opportunity to see "BOLLE" in action a few times and also a few of his sons that carried that "signature BOLLE coat color",these pups should be solid workers!

My GSD ear came up, went back down, and never came up again. Everyone loves the ear. I wish it was up 😂

That is an easy fix but has to be done before the puppy is 7 months old. You simply tape it up, most vets know how to do it, it isn't painful and supports the ear cartilage. This is mostly a result of the female not receiving the calcium she needed when pregnant.

Something tells me this video was to be posted earlier today, instead of the LIVE. LOL! 😂 I’d pick the first puppy 🥰 - the bi-colour female … not the one that’s listed for sale. Not that there’s anything wrong with her … I just prefer the first female’s personality more … what little I saw of it!

Having met a full sibling to the sire (Kava v TK), I'm not surprised by the prey or noise responses! Make sure they get expoure to stairs/see through surfaces would be my recommendation based off what I've seen from the Hopper dogs I've met so far. My hopper granddaughter is socially open to other dogs but reserved at first, very independent when it comes to new environments, but not particularly high in hunt drive.

Great demo 👌 Would have enjoyed seeing the testing for all the pups in this litter. It'd also be interesting to see a re-testing some months from now. Most importantly: are the little chonkers' coats soft? Because they look bunny-fur soft from here 🤗🥰 And Link's eyes 😍 what a darling!

Just a thing to know, I think most people in greek pronounce Kratos as "Kray-Toe-s'. A powerful name as is, but I think you'll get a couple looks if you pronounce it 'krah-tus" lol But what do I know, maybe his owners actually pronounced it that way.

For a "normal" handler that knows what he is doing a male is just easier, no heat cycles, less unxepected same sex aggration, more power to contain insted of "to bring"... Just much easier...

Ive never owned one of these types but have owned bred and raised 100s of hunting dogs, why are Shepards bred and developed with wrecked rear ends , they couldn't compete for a full days hard work with a sport dog that has correct performance conformation, that over angulated rear and dropped top line wouldn't allow it, I just question the reason the breed has it when its really a fault, Malinois have so much better conformation for work.
@1packatak3 ай бұрын
That’s more in the Conformation area like AKC. Why I have no idea😖. But when you get into these working lines, they are much more square and look like a Shepherd should. Going to a GSD Seiger show would be a good thing. There, like on a IGP field, you will see working line dogs. They are judged by the specific breed standard (GSD, Rott, Dobie,Mal). The judges give a verbal critique as they go, and the owners get a copy. There is also a significant test of the dogs in motion as part of the test. They are run in a very large field. And it’s not unusual for the dogs to have to gait 15-20 times around the field. This really highlights the dog’s movement. Unlike AKC/CKC where they seldom do more than one lap in a small ring.
@gregorysilas63293 ай бұрын
The German shepherd conformation standard was designed to produce a dog able to trot at medium speeds and work along side sheep while herding all day. It doesn’t prevent them from working all day in that sense. The more extreme levels of angulation for rob the dog of some athleticism.
@CumbrianMush3 ай бұрын
Maybe because you've only ever seen show line american shepherds. You've probably never seen the straight back working lines we have over here in the U.K and Europe. Rare you will ever see a showline here in the U.K. especially nowadays.
@bricesicle3 ай бұрын
That’s not always true, with good west German showline breeders they still do igp or herding and a decent American showline breeder will at least herd. Both of which can’t have deformed dogs perform in
@mobstercrow75153 ай бұрын
Pugs, dachshunds, bull dogs, chihuahuas and flat faced breeds too... They have so many health problems. It's not just dogs, it happens in reptiles, birds, lagomorphs, rodents, cats, and even goats. Fainting goats have neurogical issues and so do spider ball pythons. There is a domestic rabbit that can't jump because of their genes. This is why you should always do extensive health testing before breeding any animals.

Question why breed over the top dogs for police work when the majority of police k9 handlers are amateurs who have no clue how to handle a dog
@jfkst13 ай бұрын
Because extreme dogs are the only ones worth breeding and moderate dogs are usually poor working quality.
@Noahsark173 ай бұрын
The idiocy of people thinking high drive is workability. A dog can work defensively, without high drive!!!
