I understand that you probably misspoke when you said 2:1 of salt to water so instead of 2 parts salt to 1 part water, I weighed out 2 parts boiling water to one part salt (I used fine sea salt) and it just seems to be way too much salt for the water to hold. Despite using freshly boiled water from the kettle and stirring vigorously, there are so many grains of salt left in the water. After some experimenting I know what can happen if there are grains of salt in your salt solution and it mixes in with your Castile soap so I tried to add bits of water until the salt full dissolved. Then I spooned out some of the water into my soap and mixed. And of course it’s not working, I guess my salt mixture is too watery now, but I had to add more water for the salt to dissolve. My soap is not thickening at all, it’s just making it whiter. I am using Dr Bronners citrus liquid Castile soap (I’m adding the salt water to just that, nothing else is in the soap). What on earth am I doing wrong? Why won’t my salt dissolve in a 2:1 ratio like yours did? I’ve already wasted so much expensive Castile soap tonight experimenting 😭

Hi: I'm interested in thickening up some very thin store bought liquid soap. Iheard the ratio of 2 to 1 ratio but what exactly does that mean? I would appreciate clear measurement directions. How much salt and how much water? I have a 32oz container of liquid soap that I'd like to thicken up and would like to do it all at once instead of small cups at a time. Example: 1 cup of walter to how much salt??? 1 gallon of water to how much salt???

Hi I have a question about Liquid soap again, please. I watched your and other videos online on how to make liquid Castile soap thickens by adding salt solution. When I do this to a certain extent, like 12 tbsp per liter, I get a thick liquid like sauce, but it doesn’t thicken further. It doesn’t become a paste like the video. Why does this happen? Another question, do I have to leave the Castile soap for 2 - 3 weeks to cure before I use it? Would it behave better if I do? Or shall I use it from the second day? Thanks a lot.

Karin Emery koh for liquid soap
@agoogler34662 жыл бұрын
Koh makes liquid soap, naoh makes solid soap. Adding salt (NaCl) thickens liquid soap because the sodium starts competing with the potassium to form soap.

How do i make liquid soap at home plus stain removal
@Werewolf02164 жыл бұрын
I bought some fantastic smelling liquid hand soap on Etsy ...the scents are for guys, so very cool because it's hard to find soaps with masculine scents. However, though the description said it was a thick gel, it arrived very watery. I added salt, but it seemed to only make it thinner and now it doesn't lather as good. I bought 8 bottles, all different scents, 8 oz each. If I added Cocamidopropyl Betaine would that help? Thanks.
