Thank you Marco. The most honest and well thought out tutorials on YT that I've found so far (and I've watched a lot of them). Kujo Painting also has excellent content btw. From a personal perspective I would like to hear your thoughts on: Lighting, Placement and storage of tools, parts etc. whilst on a project. Basically, your bench set-up. How you decide on the order of the work on a project. I know each will be different, but how to think the order through. I'll think that's enough from me right now, but how about the Mecha eh? I would love to see what you could do with an RG or MG Gundam! My thanks again sir.

I've trolled the internet and youtube for help in airbrushing - for me this is the best - thankyou Marco. I'm 70 now, but have hand painted many plastic models in my life. I brought and iwata HP-C plus a couple of years ago. Then a good compressor more recently. I'll be using it for some model aircraft and my large model railway, where I'm scratch building everything. So lots to do and plenty to learn about airbrushing. Having discovered Marco, I now have more confidence.

I learned more listening to one of your videos than any others that I've watched before. You seem very honest and very knowledgeable. I will continue to watch your videos as I'm a beginner airbrush user with hopes of learning the craft to enhance my model car building. I just retired after 45 years as a electrical engineer for a power company and always wanted to build models. So thank you for the advice about airbrushing ! I appreciate it.

Good to know what they consist off, thank you! I noticed that when putting flow improver onto dried colors it starts dissolving them, and at once time, when I had too much flow improver in my airbrush color, it started to dissolve the previous layer on my miniature. So I learned the hard way to use them very sparingly :)

Marco you marvelous maestro. This video ran across my playlist about a year ago. Long before I even though of airbrushing. Fast forward to recently when I finally took the leap and woe is me. No thinner in stock. With this video I have not only mixed my own thinner, but I have used it with every paint brand I own (gw, scale75, army painter warpaints, ak, vallejo model /game (old and new)) with great results. This was amazing to me, a total novice, who had only heard horror stories about airbrushing. The only additional info I found useful was Vince Venturella's thin more than you think you should and a lower pressure advice. Now, to speedpaint a warband...

Could you talk about safety in using an airbrush? How do you need to prepare the space, do you need a booth, what kind of protection do you wear, does it leave any residue on the furniture around your place? I've wanted to get an airbrush for a very long time if only just for priming, but since I live in an apartment and with no balcony I don't really have "spare space" I don't mind ruining :(

Man, absolutely spot on. Here in HK where temperature and humidity can jump like crazy (day1 - 35°C / 65% humidity ; day 2 - 28°C / 90% humidity) I was massively struggling with airbrush clogging, paint drying time, etc... Because I was applying the same approach every day. Took me a while to understand how to adjust. To be honest, I am still unsure if the relationship is exactly: higher temperature = more retardant/flow improver higher humidity = more isopropyl I should do some actual testing and see. But got noooo time!!! 😭😭😭 None the less, great video (as always). I like to know you have a more scientific background. In what if I may ask? Chemistry/Physics? Keep up the good work.

Marco this one of my favourites of your videos, I revisit it a lot to remind myself of the different dilution ingredients and their properties - I know it was ages ago, but I'd really love to see the same format applied to some other common non-paints - eg. Brush flow improver. What's in glaze medium? What's the difference between matte medium and matte varnish? Your voice on the subject would kill a lot of doubts 😅

You have me thinking Marco that I may be able to do this and help my painting….. I just need to find some of the stuff you mentioned.

Thank you, Marco. True and honest tutorial. I observed, that I use different quantities of thinners at different times. I like to use my own recepy of thinner, so the one I bought seems to never run out 😆. I never used flow improver, but I noticed that, when I mix retarder in the paint for that smooth finish, the tip dry effect is less or non. I thought that it was because I was using the airbrush more bolder for that last step 🤪. But it might just be because of the retarder, that doesn't let the paint dry on the tip so much. (I also mix the paint in my airbrush. Sorry, 😔 promise I'll newer do it again. ) Great job on all your works!

Thanks for telling me to please stop mixing my paints in the pot. Also as someone who once watched an hour long video on the science of acrylic paint, I prefer the super nerd approach to things with no "magic" solutions with arbitrary numbers. Only thing this video is missing is showing an example of how thick the paint can be when you put it through the airbrush. Guess that means I'll just have to experiment!
@MarcoFrisoniNJM5 жыл бұрын
Thanks!!! It's really a pleasure 😊😊😊 I consciously avoided an example because there isn't a single dilution good for every situation/brand/type of paint/technique...; the only realistic thing is to show you how/what I do in details during every future painting video 😋
