Life coaches need to be approachable, personable, friendly and helpful. They should be enthusiastic, empathic and have a sense of humour and patience. Possessing these qualities are important in helping coaches to gain new customers, but also new business contacts.

A great book, a great author and certainly a great mentor/coach to be working with Ali. It really is amazing working with a coach as sometimes they allow us to see the things that we struggle to see for ourselves or offer us insights that we are unable to see for ourselves because of our belief systems. What he talks about around the 25 minute mark is exactly how I started coaching I have a small audience and solved a problem, I was then able to leave my full time job with less than 2000 subscribers on KZbin. Really enjoyed this one! Thank you Ali!

Hello, this is an interesting perspective of life coaching. I don't really think highly of this field, especially in the women's sphere of girl bosses. It seems like a bunch of crazy people who are desperately trying to find order in their lives and have a business of their own, and then they go hunting for vulnerable women to sweep up in their circus of life coaching. As for this more tame looking version of life coaching - I still don't think I really like it? The goal looks like it's to change behaviour by guiding the client. How does this differ to the work of a trained psychologist or counsellor? I would be worried that life coaches base their work on random life experiences instead of being grounded in evidence based practice. On the other hand, I imagine there are a lot less driven psychologists that don't really throw themselves into the goal. Are life coaches actually just business analysts of the brain/self? And psychologists just focus on psychopathologies of the brain? Thanks for the food for thought.
@caleloberg8788

Psychologist and counsellors offer advice as knowledge experts. Coaches ask questions and help the coachee focus on things they are saying and to observe observations they are already making. If the coach messes up and starts giving life advice from their experience, they have stepped outside the framework of coaching and are no better than a good friend. Coaching is just focusing on what the person is talking about, content and their emotion, writing notes about what they say and their body language and then debriefing the coachee of those observations so they can produce results for themselves.

Interesting... So a coach is kind of like a journal that has a brain and asks questions whenever you enter data that needs teasing out but also doesn't give any answers or judgement?

This is exactly what most "life coaching" is like. Most are Instagram type people who don't have much life experience that need to make money. The market is definitely geared towards marketing to women. It's also funny how these people are like twenty something or thirty something. Trying living 50 years first. This is different than people with specialised knowledge like a lawyer, etc. Notice that most of popular "girl bosses" become life coaches and then make their $$ selling "certifications" to others. The whole industry is mostly a scam. Many of the clients can't afford the training themselves. Really, all this information on goals, etc. can be read in books. It's nice to have someone to bounce ideas off of, but c'mon life coaching is pretentious nonsense. Business coaching is slightly different if you have specialised knowledge.
@turntablesrockmyworld9315
@turntablesrockmyworld9315 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, this is somewhat true but most of the industry is filled with people who want to be therapists but don't want to put years of work into training. But generally nothing he is saying is revolutionary. Many non-profits have used similar stuff for clients for decades, using questioning and creating accountability. Sure, there are personalities that can assist and motivate but most it is pretentious nonsense aimed at people that no real problems in life beyond their privileged existence. Notice that none of these people target the almost 800 million people living in dire poverty. Pretentious nonsense.

The economic hardship, recession, unemployment and the loss of job caused by govt and covid pandemic is enough to push people into financial ventures. I'm taking a trip into investing because I lost so much during this pandemic. Multi creation of wealth is the best strategy to ensure financial sustainability.. .
