Mate, this method is BY FAR the best I have come across. I am so grateful, it works like a charm. Thank you!

Found this vid a few years ago and i've been using this method ever since. This makes it easy to throw larger nets. Thanks Tarpon World!

+Ray Sambo I appreciate your feedback!! How big of a net do you throw using this method?

8, 10 and 12 foot nets. Also find this method good when throwing from a pier. Swinging up and over the guard rail, net opens fine. Haven't bought bait in a long time :-)

Love your web site, good tip on declawing the crab, I would not have thought of that. Also good job on this video. I will go down to Clearwater tonight and practice with my cast net. Need to dust it off.

Wow what a great vid thanks. I have been utilizing the tech that Calusa advocates since I bought one of their nets about 20 years ago at a show. Never paid much attention to others, but recently saw a guide using this technique you show. Wish I'd of scene it years ago! Question on the release and timing. Are you releasing the lead hand a bit later, feeling for a bit of tension as the back of the net gets out in front of you? Thanks again this is great!

When I throw the net, I basically imagine throwing everything all at once in front of me. I do not focus too much on holding the lead line, but I know others like to hold on to it a bit longer. Thanks for the question James

An anecdote. When I was 12yo or so, we were at a rental house just east of Destin & SanDestin (ptah! Don't like sandestin!). The house had a casting net so we had brought it onto the beach. Well, one day an enormous school of I don't Know what's (too young to know, about 15", dark blue on top, white bottoms) came right into a pool the tide had formed not even 10 yards from the beach. We kept casting and casting but they'd always shoot out from under. They'd always return, so there had to have been a predator out there (1 gets you 10 it was a shark(s)). We had a casters dream, but zero skill. Didn't catch one! We ended up trying to jump on them to catch them! lol

What size and brand of cast net are you using?
@TarponWorld10 жыл бұрын
It is a 12ft cast net. I am not sure what brand it is. I have had the net for a while.
