OK, got the consistent, flat bag with spin. How do I add the accuracy part back in as mentioned at the 1:48 mark??
@CornholeNetwork2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a recipe for the next episode. But in our understanding, once you have your mechanics of a flat bag locked in, you can focus on accuracy, which just means practice hitting your targets with this new technique. With enough reps you should find it.
@koycarley17872 жыл бұрын
What helps me, focus on aligning your release point with your line of sight of the whole. Kinda like lining up your front and rear sights with your target. I keep my elbows in and tight, and emphasize a straight motion as I throw. I’ve also really been experimenting with how the bag lands and how it reacts to hitting other bags and really focusing on changing flight angles and rotation speed. If it’s spinning fast it’ll usually hit and kick. Spinning slower it’ll almost absorb another bag and push around it. Where your bag lands, the angle it lands and the spin speed seem to be the 3 biggest factors. Long read, but im really fascinated in the physics aspect of the game.

I got a question, what can cause my throws going left majority of the time. I throw right handed, I have a perfect flat bag, but I've been having troubles with throwing every bag left across my body. Idk what I need to do to change, it's always one to left or 2 to the left and 1 off. I had it figured out for a Lil bit then it went back to old bad habit of going left. And I just can't get out of it
@CornholeNetwork2 жыл бұрын
We have seen this often, the across the body miss. One thing we have seen work is to feel like your shoulders/chest stay square to the target as you release. If you reach toward the target too much and let your shoulders angle toward the target too much this across the body miss can become a problem. Try to square up your shoulders/chest to the target as you throw.

First step is download Scoreholio and subscribe to the package you need for throwing tournaments. Then, within the software, setup a test tournament. Get as familiar as you can with the tournament format you want to use ie blind draw, switcholio, fixed teams, round robin etc. Practice checking people in, keeping scores, understanding brackets, etc. The software will be your guide to directing your first tournament. Then invite some friends and throw your first tournament. You will learn a ton your first time and struggle with the learning curve, but it will be worth it. After that you will be on your way.

I have troubles with my flat bag spins over the hole and not hook in, I have natural spin on my bag. I'm consistent but have that one bag or 2 that I hit in same spot as others, but it just spin over the hole.
@CornholeNetwork2 жыл бұрын
This sounds like a trajectory/speed issue. You want to throw each bag at a height that it will stop before it shoots off the back of the board. You could also try a slower bag, but with any bag you should practice trajectory control to stop your bag on the board either at or slightly behind the hole. Good luck!
@0711boomer2 жыл бұрын
@@CornholeNetwork okay thank you. I already throw carpet bags, so I just need work on trajectory, I can do that. I'll work on that today

I watch a lot of cornhole videos and everyone always shows how to hold and release the bag but they never focus on the draw back. Can you please show how the wrist and the bag are positioned when you draw the arm back. I think that this is one of the most important parts of the throw because it sets everything up. If you show this in another video please go slow!

The backswing varies greatly between players. Like the golf swing, the backswing can vary quite a bit as long as the release is good. Check out the Cornhole Clinic with Brennon Ballard on our channel, he discusses his backswing in that one.

What do you do other practice when you seem to have a hard time hitting the board when your throwing hand is away from the board versus against the board
@erictscherne5255Ай бұрын
To be honest, you are probably overthinking it. Reps/Practice will help you overcome any mental block when switching sides (inside / outside). I also often throw airmails during warmups. This will promote accuracy. Aim small, miss small as they say. If you are aiming at the hole, it wont matter if you are inside arm or outside arm.
@michaelminnie2102 жыл бұрын
Do you rotate your hand or your arm more when you want to get that right to left bag movement? Or both at the same time?
@CornholeNetwork2 жыл бұрын
Its a combination of both. The bottom line is you need your hand to finish in an over-rotated position where your pinky is higher than your thumb.
@michaelminnie2102 жыл бұрын
@@CornholeNetwork thanks for answering. I think part of my problem is that I bend my elbow on the backswing and bend it before the release on occasion too. I sometimes I end with my fingers over the top. Palm facing down
@CornholeNetwork2 жыл бұрын
@@michaelminnie210 I know exactly what you mean and that is very common. The proper bag release is not intuitive and takes a lot of good reps to ingrain to muscle memory. If you are too focussed on outcome to soon your form will break down and leave you with that elbow out, sideways hand position release. Your brain needs to learn to trust that the palm up release works better.

Just getting into this as my new neighbor competes. I’ve played just about every sport including bowling, disc golf, baseball, golf, soccer, football, hockey you name it… so competing is in my blood. My issue is I’m right handed but… I swing a hockey stick left handed, I throw a baseball right handed, throw a disc golf left handed, open up all doors and jars left handed, I write right handed. Naturally I want to throw a bag right handed but… playing baseball football my whole life you plant your left foot forward. I was told by my neighbor you plant your right foot forward when throwing right handed. It’s not natural. So I started throwing left handed with my left foot forward and I am a tad bit less accurate. I injured my shoulder years ago so my flexibility is limited in my right shoulder and getting my palm flat is impossible when throwing. I have major issues with an angled throw. Their bags land so flat when mine come In at an arch due to my shoulder injury. Sucks
@CornholeNetwork Жыл бұрын
I have something you can try that should sort you out. With the proper release you should put less strain on your shoulder because it happens much lower in the swing, but it all starts with the idea of not letting your hand/wrist hinge during the release. Imagine there is a straight board running down the top pf your forearm across your wrist and back of hand, holding all that in a line. Now you want to throw bags like that while smoothly rotating your forearm open to the target. If your wrist stays firm the bag will feel like it wants to go straight up, so you will need to release the bag lower in your swing to get it going toward the target, this is good. Keep practicing this until it become natural, holding the finish position to make sure your hand and wrist have not hinged (back of hand, wrist and forearms still in a straight line). At first this will feel very weird, but you should notice quickly that the bags will come out very flat. Soon you will start to notice when your wrist does break down leaving you with a sloppy inside tilted bag. Give it a shot and see what you think.
@freedomhiking6925 Жыл бұрын
@@CornholeNetwork thanks for the reply. Definitely going to start practicing on the hand position, gripping the bag properly.

I know I am late to this but, There is no right or wrong way to stand in cornhole. Think of it like skateboarding or snowboarding. There is the traditional or normal stance and there is goofy-foot. Goofy-foot just being the opposite leg forward. As a pro player, I throw and have always thrown opposite foot forward. Similar to bowling or golf or baseball. It felt more natural so I do it that way. I think 60-70% of pros probably do it this way. There is a solid number who do do it with their throwing side foot forward. It's not uncommon but it is not as popular. Most players who do this like it as they feel like it helps them to clear their leg and not make contact with the leg and bag that is being thrown. Either way is acceptable and results are what should determine how you want to throw.

What do you think of my technique which is it stays flat through the air, no movement. Either spinning nor end over end. Almost like a knuckleball in baseball. I do a high arch. I land it on the board 9.5/10. And can usually get at least a cpl holes each frame.
@CornholeNetwork6 ай бұрын
That is what we call the dead cat bag. The problem with the dead cat bag is, like a knuckle ball, it will move through the air in an unpredictable way, be highly susceptible to wind, and react to the board in an unpredictable way. A spinning bag will cut through the air like a Frisbee , offer much greater accuracy, and slide up the board in a predictable way. You will be able to play to a certain level with a dead cat bag, but if you want to move into a more advanced game you will want to start spinning the bag.

Trajectory control is essential regardless of what bag you are throwing. Try throwing a fast bag high enough that it stops before the hole. Once you can do that you can dial your trajectory to stop your bag wherever you want it.
