Liked your video! Those that play together stay together! Watching from Lancaster, PA. We bought a corn hole set awhile ago. Set it up and grabbed a bag and started chucking! I couldn't even hit the board at first. Never even heard of a flat bag. My aim is to practice throwing a flat bag instead of chucking it! Then try to get it into the hole!

Love the content! I’ve been playing cornhole and horse shoes in local leagues for a few years now and I’ve always thrown by pinching the middle and slinging it (we call it the lantern toss 😂) always worked for me. I don’t see many people throw that way and I wonder why. Seems easier and more consistent in my eyes.

Yes we both do!!! As for other pros I would take a decent guess and say alot of them leave their fingers out and the end to use as a guide

How much spin do you put on a bag, and how does increased / decreased spin affect the bag flight, and its landing slide?
@stevevanderver21304 жыл бұрын
Hey Alph, Sorry for the delay in answering. This is a very good question. Obviously you are thinking deep into this just as you should. This is one that the wife and I both had to consult on. A flat bag and more spin definitely go hand and hand. More spin definitely helps out with a flatter bag. It also helps cut through the wind when playing outdoors. But the position of the bag when releasing also is important. If you release the bag at an angle even with a lot of spin, the bag will fly at an angle. So releasing with the palm to the sky with a smooth even opening flick of the fingers is just as important. More spin also helps with a straighter line once it hits on a solid board. Less spin will allow the bag to hook normally to the right. Key words here is solid boards. A flat bag with more spin on a bouncy board will cause your bag to bounce unpredictably. On a fast or bouncy board your best friend will being able to throw that wobbly bag with less spin. More spin and a flat bag can also cause you trouble on a fast board. Learning the technics of a higher pitch, a wobbly bag and even a bag coming in at an angle can help in this instance. Sure hope this helps Alph. If you have any more questions or thoughts on this issue or others just give us a shout. Thanks Steve & Jenn

Again thanks for taking the time to do this vid. I do have a question. I actually just started about 4 weeks ago and practice as much as possible. I've had some improvement and what seems to be setbacks as well. I seemed to have hit a wall at 4ish ppr. I noticed that the leg you have forward is opposite your throwing hand is this the stance that you recommend I should practice? Currently my forward leg is my throwing side. I'm getting a bit frustrated at my lack of improving and looking for any pointers to help me improve.
@jennifervanderver77352 жыл бұрын
So we actually both throw with our opposite foot forward. Just like your hitting a baseball bat! Don't be frustrated at changing and working with it. We believe it helps with balance and you're able to get your throwing arm in line with the hole sooner.

Should I lock my elbow when I throw?
@stevevanderver21303 жыл бұрын
This may be a personal preference for some. Personally I do to help create consistency. It is something you will have to practice. You do not want to lock it real tight where you are putting to much emphasis on your elbow and locking it. Hopefully this helps. That is one of those hard to explain questions

I notice that you both put the fill seam to the side of your hand. I always put the seam at the top, facing the board. Is there a reason for this, or just personal preference? Thanks for all the tips.
@stevevanderver21304 жыл бұрын
Way to be observant! For us several things come into play here. First is we definitely Do not like the feel of the seam in our Palm. Which only leaves the front as an option because any other direction does not seem even or balanced. Semetrical if you will. And the other thing for us is then doing the same thing over and over. "Reputation" This was talked about in an earlier video. Thanks for the question and we hope this helps.

Hey guys, love the content. Just curious, how much tension do you have in your arm and elbow during your throw? Also, do you watch your arm at the end of the throw?
@michaelminnie89254 жыл бұрын
Thanks as always!
@stevevanderver21304 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, As far ae tension in your arm while throwing. We add just enough to keep your arm straight. Too little and you can tend to allow your arm to bend. Too much just doesn't feel normal so that will most likely be a personal choice. Now I do not look at my arm when I throw but I do notice the location of my arm and hand after I have thrown. The location will help me make adjustments if needed. Thanks for the comment and I hope that helps. Steve
