I LOVED THE " V " GRIP, you can actually hear the " whoosh, or whang" noise when I hit the javelin at the moment of releasing the javelin, people around me and especially the officials, I could always hear them commenting on how much " power" was in that throw lol, u can truly hear the noise the javelin makes at the moment of release , I started of with what Thomas calls the American grip, and I then upgraded too V grip and at the age of 14 years old, I started my first ever comp with 33metres, then within 3 months at the national championships I won 2nd place with a 74metre throw.

Tried the "V" grip today throwing with a practice javelin, and I like it a lot. I would have never thought to hold the javelin that way. Danke

You have one of THE BEST THROWING TECHNIQUES EVER, U ALSO PROVE THAT javelin throwing isn't about how massive the thrower is, it's all down too technique and the use of fast twitch muscle fibres that enables you too really hit the javelin, and as soon as it leaves my hand I would know straight away if it's going too be a big throw, as i love that feeling of how it propels u forward and the way the arm just EASILY follows thru, only throwers who know what I'm talking about when it comes too that " FEELING" U GET ONCE IT LEAVES THE HAND AND IT FEELS LIKE YOU REALLY PUNCHED IT OUT THERE. GOOD LUCK AT THE OLYMPICS MY FRIEND, I DREAMT U WILL HIT AT LEAST 94M.. YOU WILL DEFINITELY WIN A MEDAL, IT WILLBE BETWEEN YOU AND JOHANNES , GOOD LUCK THOMAS. FROM HAKAN

Thomas, do you have your entire palm touching the grip when you throw? It feels like the most important part of the grip is the thumb and forefinger and if these are securely latched around the back of the javelin grip the transfer of power still occurs at a high level. Also wondering if you intentionally impart spin (like an American football spiral) on the javelin or if this is a natural by product of the the throw. Thanks for all your help in KZbin and Insta!
@Para11ax. Жыл бұрын
I had the same question, if the palm should be touching the javelin, and I think the answer is yes it should. If not in the palm you get a bad release.

Sir how to throw the javelin from over the head like you please tell
@thealbinotadpole28783 жыл бұрын
I know I'm late in replying, but you should try keeping your elbow higher (around ear-level) during the delivery. This protects the elbow from injury and can help transfer more speed up to your hand in a whiplike motion.

Your size does factor in a little with how far you throw (longer arms-> longer delivery path->more acceleration), but working on the mechanics and technique of the throw are magnitudes more important.

How about a vid explaining what happened to the German throwers in the last few years (Tokyo for example) There was so much hype about the German training system and even that unbelievably cringey "New Unlimited Team Germany Javelin Throw" black & white boy band video. Are they all getting injured? Too many meets? Intensity of training? celebrity temptations? There's tons of jav videos online with cool looking training ideas and exercises but where's the evidence based correlation of the exercise to actual improvement? where are the guys cautioning young athletes not to confuse the MEANS with the ENDS. In some vids you see guys who have peaked trying new exercises in order to keep improving but they give the impression that those exercises got them to where they are in the first place. Sorry Thomas to rant on your video but I had to do it somewhere.
