I was so sorry to hear Thomas won't be competing in the Olympics due to a back injury :-( I was really hoping he would win. Heal quickly, Thomas! And while you are recuperating, consider making more of your awesome javelin instruction videos -- like one showing the arm position throughout the throw and the release. That would be the best. And again, I hope your back feels better soon.

Looked like about 50-60 metres from a standing throw! The best always make it look so easy.

Thomas Rohler is an AMAZING athlete -- and a great instructor, too. These are the best videos I have seen on the javelin. I actually had a former Olympian javelin coach for a few lessons... He taught me a bit about the runup, but never mentioned turning the shoulder. That was SO helpful -- and essential. THANK YOU, THOMAS! I feel I am close to understanding the technique, but I still struggle with one thing... The full movement of the arm, including THE HAND AND RELEASE. This causes me great stress. A humble request, Thomas -- please do a video that shows your arm and hand... you almost have that view at 3:20 in this video... but I can't see the hand -- and if the video was in slow motion that would be the best. (Often the javelin release is so fast, it's hard to see what is happening.) I can't tell how the hand is positioned after you turn the shoulder... does the palm face towards the head -- almost like you are talking on a phone -- or is it positioned upward, toward the sky? And what about pronation? I would be eternally grateful for a video and lesson on the JAVELIN RELEASE. Thanks... And good luck in the Olympics. I believe you are competing. I hope you win Gold!

I threw over 40 years ago and tice in a row, I smashed the javelin against the back of my head, knocking myself to the ground; second time I saw starts. But I would like to try again. Thank you. I will remember the arm - like throwing darts.

Thomas, these videos are fantastic! I am a relatively new track coach but don't know a lot about javelin. Will we see more videos about the approach, withdrawal, etc...? That would be great!

I know its been a while since this bideo came out but I have question about the elbow use in the throw and getting under the jav. I have been throwing from the shoulder which has been killing my release angle and it sounds like getting under the jav is like using the elbow to aim where you throw the jav? Is that a correct way to think about it or?

Sorry rholer i will inselt your javelin tricks. because i will practice by basic tricks of javelin ,i throw the javelin for standing javelin reached 35 meters but i can't practice for running throw the javelin . I can mistake the javelin match I first start the running throw the javelin from the match, the javelin reaches19.50 metres but that match 33 meter throwed person is first price . You will not think this is simple matter for throw the javelin, but this is zonal match, all persons first match is start from this zonal match from my Indian country zonal match after select district match and after selected state match after National match and international match you will also participate the international match many persons competed with you you will compete with other javelin athletes etc.., . You are 93.7m world record player for javelin
