Hi guys! Do you use my method to tie boltsnaps or do you have another method? Please let me know!

I tie mine in my favorite color of line :) But, the same method. Great video!

Hi. Great video. I've been testing for a while silicone o rings and they work great. My spg is attached with it and it's fixed and it doesn't break like rubber o-rings. Advantages? In case of an entanglement and if the boltsnap is unaacesable or jammed I can break it pulling with force of it instead of using a line cutter.

Possible. I personally don’t trust orings on that matter. But if it works for you, that’s fine!

@@DoktorBEN I only use it with those things that are attached at another point at me p.e hoses to the first stage, so there is no risk of loosing equipment. Cordless flashlights and anything that's not attached to me at any other point is tied with caveline as you've shown.

That’s a nice tip to secure the knot!

Great discussion & demonstration! Personally, I've been using the method described in ISE videos, but I recently found the Prusik Knot technique presented in a Prana Dive video that seems more elegant in that it better controls the wrapped line. I'm going to try it out. A thought: While many of the videos on tying boltsnaps address where to tie it along the length of the hose (ex: a handwidth from the 2nd stage), none discuss controlling the position of where you tie it radially around the circle of the hose. Acknowledging that the angle the boltsnap can make with the hose can be radially adjusted about 190 degrees when constrained by properly-tied cave line, having it in the wrong position around the circumference of the hose (since the hose cannot rotate) can make clipping it off awkward, as well as having it poke you in the cheek for the one used to clip off your reg. I find the correct position by setting up a tank and reg on my BC and running the hoses to find the right orientation as the hoses naturally curl to their diving positions. The key is using the natural curled position of the hoses in the diving position. I wrap a piece of painter's tape on the hose adjacent to the installation position, use a Sharpie to mark the best boltsnap location on the tape, then tie it on. That way, the boltsnap is optimally located for use when diving. Thanks and keep up the good work!

I had to to replace my high pressure hose. Couldn't remember how to tie the SPG bolt snap. You did it the same way my GUE instructor did, except he looped 2 times instead of 3. This was helpful in remembering how. My SPG hose is 26". I believe GUE uses 24.5." Since in the US everything is in inches instead of centimeters the choose is 24" or 26". My SPG ring is slightly larger than what you show. It is just big enough for me to fit my finger though with gloves.

Depends on the line…a thicker line might be ok with 2 wraps a very thin one might need even 4. So it doesn’t really make a difference. The length of the hose in turn depends on the regs and the backplate you use. And quite frankly…hoses are often not cut precisely and may vary anyway a bit.

What do you think of the Xdeep boltssnaps ? Can we use it for the GUE fundamental ? Is it within the GUE standards ? Btw thanks for the amazing videos please make more about the GUE fundamentals course and maybe the drills that are perform during the course Again thank you for the videos

Thanks! Yes I can do that! Regarding XDeep snaps…. We’ll they’re not against standards and I think they are very nice, yet a bit overpriced for my taste
