*Overall **enjoyable.fishing** recommend I feel the Shadowfire 360 offers excellent value for those who are new to tenkara and don't want to break the bank on their first rod purchase.*

Hi Des as a new angler, 3 months in your videos have been very easy to follow. Today I have tied my first ever pole rigs 4*14 on 0.15 reflo with the Chianti floats, out tomorrow in the cold to give them a go. You have taught an old dog (47) new tricks #happyfishing regards Rob Lowe

Awesome video and tips. I know this is an old video. But it still have great tips. Thanks Des and Preston Innovation. I love stotz. Tight Lines Guys

Hi des when making my rigs I always add my trimming shot/ stotzs to dot the tip down above the float eye. then if the conditions change in the match and I need to see more of the tip I can slide them up the line away from the float so they don’t take affect the float and use them like back shot it save me a lot of time

Awesome video Des, I always left 6" between my two droppers, that extra 1" has made a load of difference to my bite/hooking ratio, Thanks for the video, P.S you make that figure of 8 loop look sooooooo easy, I always struggle with my fat fingers but I think I've sussed how you do it

I use a self adhesive label for each winder with all the detail of the float and line, shotting etc. Then that float always stays with that particular winder so if I trash a rig I know exactly what shot it takes so just have to make up a new rig.

Figure of 8 loop is a strong one but, as Des also recommends using a loop tyer, a double overhand loop is just as good and easier to tie.

I find the figure of 8 easier to tie than a double overhand but thats just me.

Hi Des i put my silicone on needles with an eye on it and just thread the line through it and cut to size with a razor blade and slide it on thefloat stem job done whatdo you think of that idea Des
@Drywaller6 жыл бұрын
do you not account for the weight of the bait?
@Pavol_P7 жыл бұрын
where can you get the silicone?
@marksoboruns67167 жыл бұрын
Suggest always consider the weight of hook also before applying shots or stotz. Attach the hooklenght and only then to apply loads. IMHO. Brgds
@cns1807846 жыл бұрын
I'll tie my pole rigs with the hook length ready tied on, dont see the point in what Des does here. That is 0.15 line he's using so i guess for hook length it'll be 0.12 so i'd go with a size 16 or 18 hook maybe even 20. I dont go by line diameter though i just go by breaking strain myself.
@cns1807846 жыл бұрын
Good video but i've noticed a lot of anglers like yourself in this video dont attach the hook length to the rig so that it is part of the rig (and what is the finished rig, at least thats how i see it) why is this? seeing as it goes on loop to loop style and you'd never use something like a quick change bead for pole rigs. You know what sort and size of hook you'll use with the rig just by the strength of line you're using so if its a rig with quite a heavy float and a strong mainline which would target Carp and F1's then you'd go with probably a size 16 wide gape hook so i'd just go with a weaker hook length line with that hook and loop to loop it on. I just dont get the logic in not attaching the hook length to the rig.

Hi Des. Is there any chance you can do a slow mo on the figure of eight knot. I must have watched it over several but can't get it.

Des great video. Could you do a slow motion close up of the figure of 8 loop knot. I can tie it but not as quick as you. Think I'm holding the line etc wrong to be able to do it so smoothly. I'm sure with a few tips it'll make it easier for us amatures.

You could just tie a Perfection Loop i find it easier than the figure of eight. I learned these knots from Myles Gascoyne he has his own channel on You Tube. His videos are fantastic in explaining the knots and they're very well visible with a nice close up camera.

Hi do you have any video on tying hook lenths
@chewyh16684 жыл бұрын
Hey man. Such a great video. I'm just wondering though, when you get to the lake you still plum the depth? The shots stay in the same place but you just move the float up or down to where you want the depth? Iv been fishing for years but I'm pretty new to the pole fishing , float rigs etc...

Hi Des, could you please tell Me how long a hook length would you use with this rig ? Also, is the first dropper against the bottom loop, then 5inches to the second dropper, then 6 inches to the bulk, Yes. Regards Paul.

Does the shotting tube not have different surface tension compared to a wide body of water ?
@UKprestoninnovations5 жыл бұрын
Ever so slightly Andrew. It is best to slightly undershot the rig and then have to add a small additional shot on the bank.
