I have learnt something from this video. The beauty of this knot is that the sailors don’t need to put their fingers in the parts under load( and sometimes unexpected sudden loads)

I know you think this is two half hitches , most people do and many knot books say it's so .but it's not.the reason is that an overhand knot is made with two half hitches,and so is a clove hitch also a buntline hitch but not your knot as it makes two similar overhand knots which makes a granny knot.
