How do YOU tie braid to a leader? I started out tying the uni-to-uni knot. However, the Alberto knot has been my go-to knot for quite some time. I’ll take you through how to tie both of these knots. I’ll be sure to cover the important steps in each knot as well as what NOT to do. These knots are great for spinning setups! You can use a braided main line and tie a fluorocarbon or monofilament leader to fit any situation you need! You’ll receive the benefit of braid sensitivity and the benefit of fluorocarbon/monofilament.
** COMMENT BELOW **
What is YOUR favorite braid to leader knot?
If you DON'T use braid with a leader, comment below and let me know why?

LOL "Famous last words". Great information once again sir. My favorite knot is the FG, but in a pinch, let's say on a boat deck with a bit of waves, I will rock the Alberto. One thing that I have come to do when tying the FG knot is to have a chair with arms on it about 4 feet away from me. Since you need tension in your main line while tying the knot, I lean the rod against the chair with the tip facing away from me at about a 40 degree angle. I say use a chair with arms because with the main line in your mouth, yes that is the easiest way for me, and you tilt back to get the tension on the line and lift the rod off the chair the arms will keep the rod from swinging. This will make it so that you can worry about tying the knot and not trying to keep the rod balanced and off the ground.

I've used the uni to uni for years until I saw how to tie the FG knot , but let me say that it sure isn't the easiest knot to tie , there are several ways to tie it like holding braid with your teeth , which I chipped my tooth with the braid , that sucked Now mind you I had all last winter to practice tying this knot and I finely found a way to tie the darn thing with out biting braid , wrapping line around your legs , using your fingers and what have you , and it actually works pretty good , I've even used a magnifying glass to check to see if the wraps where correct . I wish I could send you a vid on how I tie it . Any more if I get bored I just tie the FG for s - - - s and grins. Yeah I didn't get notified of the vid ether FYI

I use a 9 loop each side Blood knot(by no means is it a a small knot, but it has no slip and is very strong) and going through the line guide isn't an issue I've found. I only fish braid to leader and 90% of the time i use 7-10' leaders. I've used the same leader tied to my braid for several days of fishing and had no problems with the knot going through the guides or the line guide. I know I usually don't need a leader that's 10' long but it allows me to continue fishing without always having to retie my leader or because of changing lures or having frayed line after fishing rocks. When i fish crankbaits i will use up to 15' leader for slightly better depth and longer leader life since the cranks will dig in the rocks and tear up the line really quickly(especially flouro, stuff is so frail sometimes).

Awesome!! Ive been waiting for you to post a "leader" video. I'm also glad to see the Alberto works well for you. I think ive told you how im a big fan of the FG knot. I do like it and I can do it quickly however it can be a huge pain to tie correctly. I mess it up frequenty and have to start over alot. I learned to tie it by watching a saltwater video from Joshua Taylor of Salty Scales. Another saltwater video , "Salt Strong" also has a great video for tying it. I'm glad you gave it such an honorable mention. I'm looking forward to see if sometime this winter or in the spring you do post a video on it. Although there is some great videos out there they are still somewhat vague fortunately which you are not. Thanks for always being so thorough and easy to follow.

Hey Debo, I use the Uni to Uni knot now, but am probably going to eventually switch to the FG knot skipping the Alberto. I have used braid in the past but mainly used spinning reels so I'd usually just go with a decent mono line for simplicity or a light braid (15-20lb) to a 3-4ft flouro leader so I could keep the knot out of the eyes/reel. I am however getting more interested in mastering baitcasters and tossing lures into the snag-a-licious spots so I am switching to 65lb braid with a 20lb flouro leader. What length of leader do you find works best for you as an all-around setup that you can go from fishing a jig, to a texas rig, to a spinner bait etc. I have a couple baitcasters and a ton of spinning setups, but don't like taking a bunch of poles unless I'm on a boat so I am trying to find a good utility setup for the baitcaster with my spinning rod rigged for finesse for when I am bank fishing. Keep up the good videos man!
@DEBOSFishing
