the liquid over ice was new to me, but I very much liked the results!✌😲✌

Ice dyeing is so versatile. Doing this side by side taught me a lot in my attempt to help others. Watching them being done all at the same time is different than doing one here and one there. 😁❤️🌈

I like the liquid dye shirt better.... I love the blue in it!

I really like that shirt too. However, I’m the most surprised by it because it is the most pure form of dye and the colors in that shirt are the farthest from my swatches. 🤷♀️ That’s why we experiment... ❤️🌈

Very excellent video. Exactly what I was looking for. Seeing that the ice was much lighter, could I suggest weighing the ice and using a fan to evaporate the liquid dye down to an appropriate weight? Might get you a bit less dillution. The blues with the violet in the liquid dye were gorgeous.

I certainly could have been more exact, but close enough works in dye land. 😉 We get the gist of what’s going on here. I learned a lot with these 4 shirts. 💗♥️🌈

Liquid dye over ice...huh... didn't know you can do that. As has been said, these are all uniquely spectacular, I prefer the softer, blended shirts although all of your projects are splendid.

Yup! I learned a lot from doing this experiment. It was interesting to see how completely different each shirt could look using the same colors but different methods. ❤️🌈

The raspberry dye is made with a mix of blue. The only pure dye colors in procion dyes are the primary turquoise, lemon yellow, and magenta. All the rest are a mix of the primary colors and if not mixed well will show the base colors or many gradients of the mix.

I like the liquid over ice and the DUI. I want to learn to dye like you! I would like to do a dress or a skirt or both! Where can I get the heavier cotton blanks?

Thank you! Stay with it. You will get there. 😁 Erica Millman on Facebook has wrap skirts. Dresses, you might try Amazon. Shirts I order from Jiffy Shirts. If someone knows where to get dresses, please share with me too. ❤️🌈

Hi, thank you for the video! I am a newby, and I just had a much less blue result than I've expected. My theory is that it was 12 degrees C during the night at the beginning of the process. So, probably, the blue colours are more prone to the temperatures than yellow and fuksia. I.e. when the ice melts, it washes the blue away and it won't attach to the fabrics. Maybe because the particles of yellow are smaller than the particles of blue. It's just my theory though. So, in your case, the ice makes the temperature drop, and as a result you have less blue.
@BelladonnaDyesCo Жыл бұрын
You are correct. Turquoise is the last color to bond. It needs the full 70°F and 24 hours up to 48 hours. Cooler temperatures and shorter batch times result in lighter blues. There is so much technical stuff to learn with dyeing. I keep learning new things everyday. 😁❤️🌈

Both of these are great, but the LUI is AMAZING! Got me wondering how a shirt would turn out if you did liquid dye in a pattern on a scrunched shirt… like a basic flower petal (daisy) and offset with the colors.
@BelladonnaDyesCo3 жыл бұрын
Four completely different different shirts using the same colors of dye. It was an interesting experiment. I’m not good at drawing. Riah would be great at doing a scrunch with a flower on it, she can draw anything. Ask her, I’m curious how that would look too. ❤️🌈

“Definitely want to do hot water.” Why? What does it do as opposed to cold or warm?
@BelladonnaDyesCo3 жыл бұрын
Are you referring to the rinse out? Start with cold to rinse away the SA. You want to get that gone so the colors don’t bleed onto each other. The HOT water is to set the dye and rinse out loose dye that hasn’t reacted with the natural fibers. I don’t want dye transferring onto my “regular” clothes after it’s been dried. ❤️🌈
