I'm going to try the no name knot with a double surgeon knot to tie 14lb main mono line to 10lb floro leader. The first knot seemed a little complicated so I'm trying a double surgeon knot instead to form the loop. Yesterday, I used a blood knot to tie the two lines and lost a fish because the leader line pulled through which is what lead me here today. : )

Thanks a million for watching and sharing. Blood knot can be tricky. It's more of a knot that is used to splice the same pound test line together deep in your spool, so you don't have to re-spool the entire thing. Double surgeon knot will do just fine, it's a little abrasive, but it'll get the job done, I do suggest learning the spider hitch, once you do it a couple of times, it'll be second nature. But, it's more important to be comfortable with what you are doing so you can get out there and get your line in the water. Good luck in your journeys. Great video, I have a good technique for fluorocarbon to braid, but it was working for mono main lines. Going to give this a try!

To me it has the most shock absorbency. Is streamline, so you can cast with it. Also, you can attach different pound test or diameter lines together with it. It works with Braid to Fluorocarbon too. Seems to me you would want your leader to be a (somewhat) lower lb test line than your mono main line in case you get snagged, etc. so that the tackle and leader breaks off before losing X amount of your main line...

Actually, more often than not, you'll want your leader to either be equal or heavier pound test than your main. If you get snagged on the bottom and can;t get free, your line will snap at one of your connecting knots, either at your hook, or where you threaded your lines together. Knots always create weak points, the knot won't break, the line on either side of it will. Hope this helps give you some insight to the science of it. Thanks again. Tight lines & take care ;)
