The use of gloves the same shade as the flat backdrop was very clever. No distractions. And the patterned rope shows exactly which strand goes over what.

Why thank you! A lot of people hated on the gloves, so I decided not to use them anymore. But that was exactly what I was going for...black on black...just follow the high contrast rope.

Yes, it's an excellent fixed loop knot! Thanks for commenting!

I like the way you describe making the knot - it's the same as my internal monologue as I memorize a knot. ("I make this shape and then the rope goes under this part and into the loop") 😊 Thanks for sharing this tutorial!

You're very welcome! Thanks for relating to me! I don't know what to call it! It starts as a loop and then I fold it into...a "shape!" haha

Just so you are aware, I have already made a full length video showing all of the most popular termination knots. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4O9Y3ythbV_fdE However, in order to make as much use of content as I can, I always like to create a "Short," or short form video, for every knot that I've made a long form video of. So, thus far, I have yet to make any Shorts about termination knots, but I will be sure to da that! Thank you for your great suggestion! By the way, I love how your user image appears to be a lot of the ropes you own plus some hitch cords. That's pretty sweet.

@@Knot-orious thank you. Ive been a tree climber for 18 years of my life and have been involved in tree work over 20. Ive used just about every rope and prussik made. I like channels like this to give to new climbers for practicing various knots at home. Ill be sure to check out more of your vids.

@@cesspool1676 I'm so glad you enjoy my channel! If you're looking for knot and hitch "how to's" with some climbing and light rigging tutorials, you've found the right place. I can almost guarantee that I have more hitches listed in my library of "how to" videos than any other channel out there. I't's a mixture of my own hitch inventions and a long list of more popular hitches. I'm very thorough. I appreciate getting the attention of a 20 year plus tree veteran such as yourself!

I do as well! The resulting knot isn't as bulky. I'll be making a Short for that one soon. I already have a long form video for it; it was one of my earliest.

Why the the gloves?
@Knot-orious
@Knot-orious Жыл бұрын
My theory was that with black gloves and a black background, it might help the viewer focus better on the brightly colored ropes, and therefore make it easier to learn the knot.

You seem really nervous. Just do it 10 times. Till the shakiness goes away. (if it's nerves) and then you can record the audio separately.

I don't recommend this knot. Maybe a bowline on the bight, Kurdish double loop, double lineman's knot, or even double alpine butterfly.. thank you for your video
@Knot-orious
@Knot-orious Жыл бұрын
Personally, I have never used this knot while climbing or for anything for that matter. Bowline on a bight and alpine butterfly are for sure superior to the Angler's loop. This knot is not meant to be life supporting and that for me makes it inferior to a whole bunch of knots which are life supporting. I would never use this as a termination knot. Anyways, we're in agreement. I just like having an eclectic channel, so I try to have a little bit of everything. Don't get me wrong...It's a wonderful utility knot. Great utility knot...and it's fun to tie and looks cool. All redeeming qualities for the Angler's loop. I try to be as balanced as I can when it comes to knots because someone wouldn't have ever invented any given knot unless it served a purpose. And it wouldn't have become popularized (and I wouldn't know about it today unless) a very large number of people decided they liked the knot, and decided that they would begin using it and sharing the knowledge of its existence with friends and relatives. Am I making sense? Haha. My point is that I would recommend people use it for utility purposes, but not for climbing. The End.

@@Knot-orious wow, very thoughtful reply and thank you... There's a few newer knots I am trying, jrb climbing hitch. He has the JRB tree climbing channel. It does get old listing to the JRB channel JRB hitch, JRB etc. But the knot is good.... kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZnOwlpyMjc9qhNE

Why are you shaking so bad? lay off the coffee or don't be nervous making a video.
@Knot-orious
@Knot-orious Жыл бұрын
I honestly didn't think I was shaking. I must be desensitized to it. You're the second person to point this out to me in two days. First of all, I don't drink excessive amounts of caffeine and I'm not nervous...I just have shaky hands. Some days it is more noticeable than others. Especially when I'm rushing to try and fit the entire tying of a knot plus narration into a 60 second Shorts video. My father has the same distinct shakiness, except his is worse. I'm sorry it's distracting you from the point of the video.
