Purchased a half dozen of the commercial tied ones from you. I Like the fly and had success in the eastern sierra, Wyoming, and Idaho. floats nicely and seemed to attract quite a few fish on its own as well as working as an indicator. Only issue I had is the eye of the hook gets pretty crowded when you finish the hackle. Looks pretty tight in your video, the commercial version is much more so, and difficult to tie on. You might look at stock and feed back to fulling mill

Good luck in NC. I wanted to go see the comp myself but I won't be able to make it. A video of what the comps are like might be interesting. I've flirted with the idea of competing but there aren't many comps in the North East it seems.

Great tie bud. I saw you used the foam on that and currently I am tying sone of my corked caddis which works very well as a indicator for dry dropper. Figured I would add sone foam to see if it will float longer especially after getting wet

Thread wax (beeswax) makes the nano silk a lot less slippery and helps bind the materials better. Beeswax, not dubbing wax.

Looking forward to trying this tie. Do you bother keeping the hackle in any particular orientation when wrapping? Dull side up or down or just wrap it how it lays?
@tacticalflyfisher3817Ай бұрын
It doesn't really matter. It goes pretty askew on purpose when it is pulled over the top.

Nice easy tie , I like the the hackle stacker touch . Thanks for sharing and good luck.

So, is that foam different than other "fly foam" even the stuff from the big box stores as "craft foam"?? It seems more "open cell" but it could just be my aging eyes!! haha Is it different? Thanks and have a great day!!
@tacticalflyfisher381715 күн бұрын
@@69adrummer it’s a lower density foam than what you’ll find in craft stores in my experience. It floats better as a result. Hareline and Montana Fly Company both sell versions of it that we carry in our shop.

Devin, thank you. Do you prefer this in a 12 or 14? Thank you
@tacticalflyfisher38177 ай бұрын
I probably fish the 12 more since I'm normally holding up a decent size bead or two smaller ones when I fish this fly. But if you're sticking to a 2.3 mm or smaller bead than the 14 is fine.

@@tacticalflyfisher3817 got my package from you to tie some of these up! One question, I’ve tried to see in some of your videos but how do you dry drop with a euro rig? Do you tie a dry on and got off the bend or?

I have a question about your dry fly rig. Is the rod 9' or 10+' and is the line euro or something like a double taper?
@tacticalflyfisher38178 ай бұрын
For a single dry fly rig I use a Hardy 9’ 9” 4 weight with a long Spanish style tapered leader. When using this fly, I typically fish it as per of a dry dropper rig on a euro nymphing micro leader.

That is one butt ugly fly. I'm not saying you didn't tie it well, or that it doesn't work, just that it is uuuuuggggly. I'll be trying that one this spring!

That is a terrible fly, It makes me laugh it's so bad.

By far my best dropper fly. I tried to not use the front hackle and everything else just fails to float a 2.0mm bead or it never gets a dry eat. I got three dry eats today with this. Granted I caught dozens more under it but it worked great.
