Oh man, just found this channel. Keep up the stainless content! It's helping me gain the confidence to build my own exhaust.

Right on man! I just posted a video yesterday about welding muffler and slip joints. Let me know if you have any other videos you’d like to see.

For silicone plugs it's much cheaper to buy the assorted tapered plug kits for powder coating, and drill the hole. The pre made TIG ones are many times the price. Need to save $ for argon nowadays.

For sure. The my work just fine.

Thomas, good stuff man! Question for you, how come everyone working in this space adds wire to tube? I'm in food processing and we just fuse the two ends together.
@tommy3p3 күн бұрын
Thank you! It just adds some additional strength to the weld. On some exhaust products there is a lot of movement and stress on the joints. That being said I've welded plenty of exhaust parts just fusing and haven't had a ton of issues.

Awesome vid. The blue plugs you made yourself, are they from polyurethane or something else? The tig cup made from Ti, is cool. is just a slip fit like other cups? Would it be an issue if you rested the cup on the work piece?

Excellent video. I had never seen a titanium tig cup before. Doing some research, those could be 3D printed - unless they already are.
@tommy3p19 күн бұрын
We use a plastic base and aluminum threads so they would be hard to print. You could print some of the pieces.

What grit is your belt? I'm into a vintage iron Craftsman disc/belt for resto, and sketching up the exhaust for my British car...

What is purge within welding terms
@sjd718823 күн бұрын
@@JDR71326the argon running through the inside of the tube, purges the air out so it is just as smooth on inside as outside of welding.

Hello interesting cup. Did you makw this cup ?
@tommy3pАй бұрын
Hello. They used to be available but were discontinued, so I started making my own. They work great, and you don't have to worry about breaking them like you do with some other cups.

Yeah, I will. I'll be honest. I'm not the greatest aluminum welder but I'll give it a go. Thanks!
