@PacificArcTigWelding Hi! I am a heat exchanger welder, and even though i have some knowledge of stainless steel I am always on look out for little tips and tricks! 🙂 first of all,you are doing a good job 👍 But i am here to spread a little of my experience as a thank you for your kindness, the angle of tungsten matter very much for root or caping i am talking about pipe welding now, you se i like to keap my tungsten sharp for root, it helps me focus that energy where exactly needed, it helps to control heat input it specialy when you have multi inter pass we monitor temperature all the time, and we try not to exceed 150 Celsius. Duplex is even tuffer you have only 50 Celsius to play with it has to be 100c preheat and should not exceed 150 so you want sharp and very short tungsten to control that heat, for that reason I also prefer freehand welding, on 120 diameter 10mm thickness pipe freehand from rolling cup can differ up to 100c on 3th pass, that would significantly effect your work efficiency . Hope that is helpful to som, best regards.

I had never welded before. I bought a flux welder this past week to help extract some bolts on my car. Worked like a charm! I am instantly addicted to wanting to learn. I then starting watching TIG welding videos. Your content is TOP NOTCH. I think I'm gonna buy a tig and get your online course. Thank you for sharing your art and knowledge 🤘

Definitely pull the trigger on one of those machines, even a basic DC machine can help you accomplish a lot of projects with steel and other reactive metals, it's a ton of fun once you open this door for yourself, really excited for you! Be sure to check out the free classes on my website as well as my courses, Really happy to hear your enthusiasm!🙂🔥

Thank you for posting this. The finished butt weld shown at 22:47 shows silver at the beginning, straw, gold and finally deep blue at the finish of the weld. My question is will the deep blue and darker cause this material to rust? I am assuming his is 300 series stainless steel. Also, while welding, to keep the silver to straw, should more start and stops be employed which will allow the material to cool down some in order to keep a better consistent look? My main concern is for exhaust tubing made of stainless. If spending the time fabricate and the money to purchase, I want the weld to look like the pipe instead of deep blue. I know practice makes perfect but knowing how to in advance saves on coupons. I have a dual flow meter and will purge the pipe and supply it with Argon during welding so I will hopefully get a better weld and no rusting on the inside. If the information is in the lesson plan, I will be downloading it.

Could you do a video on controlling burn-through/sugaring? There are times when I can't get backing plates on or get shielding gas behind on thin stainless and I get burn through. I did just buy a Everlast 2000w laser welder and it's helping me a ton on parts that I was having issues with. Your videos are awesome. I'm not that far away from you, I'm in North Vancouver, Nova Machine Works.

At 12:00 your graphic shows 15-20° travel angle, but I think you mean 15-20° from vertical, not from horizontal as the yellow graphic depicts. Right?? 15° from horizontal would be awfully shallow and would probably prematurely melt your rod.

So I'm trying to just start an arc a few times on mystery metal I has seen elsewhere cfh 2x cup size so went with 12 cfh and a 6 cup. Blue tungsten I triesld electrode neg and pos I'm just getting nothing but a spark from my tungsten to the metal. Would like to know what issue could be maybe low cfh maybe my mystery metal not clean enough I've tried amps from 20-200 I've never seen a video on troubleshooting that showed this issue

I have some experience in mig and flux mig as well as arc and oxy cutting and heating but wanted to try tig with my multiprocess machine since had everything minus argon which I picked up I can do everything I need with arc or mig but want to learn tig and maybe get into an ac machine and get into small boat building with aluminum

My welder doesn not support pedal. When I stop the torch stay on if I am at welding distance. How do I stop it. I usually pull it off upwards direction. Is that a good way?
