In this week’s video, we have Greg from GN Tiling giving us the rundown on how to tile a bathroom floor. He shows us an effective and efficient way of ceramic bathroom tile installation using the clip and wedge method. A great tutorial to get top tips for that professional finish to your own bathroom floor tiles.

Great video and great workmanship.... my question is how do you get over a high point in the floor if there ever was one. Using these clips surely would raise the tile up off its adhesive bed a slight amount causing it to not be completely adhered to the floor? Obviously on complete flat or bellied surfaces this would be fine. Just wondering about possible high points is all. I’m sure you have come across this. Thanks. Marc

Cracking job Guys! John how do you prep the floor for tiling when on a timber floor, do you usually hardibacker first then anti-fracture Matt it?

Nice to see a tiler do a proper job, spent a fortune on a tiled floor in the bathroom which 6 months later has now failed and now have tiles which knock every time you walk over them. Have no idea of how to go about getting it fixed besides ripping the tiles out and getting it redone. Seems like there was poor adhesion between the tiles and the floor and having a crap tiler.

Thin coat the matting to cover the underfloor heating and let it set - then if you need to lift a tile in the future you stand less chance of damaging the element 😉

I was taught to jiggle the tile a bit perpendicular to the teeth to help flatten the bed, is this not recommended?

Clip system is great but to be honest most people wouldn’t even notice a 1mm lip on a tile, you’d have to get on your hands and knees to notice it.

Top job lads, looks nice. 1 question though I noticed he dropped a 2mm spacer inbetween the tiles at 6:00 minutes in, which will be grouted over isn't this bad practice to leave spacers in the grout joint or have I heard wrong? Just a question mate no criticism 👍
@BuildWithAE
@BuildWithAE 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Kris, The spacers Greg has used are designed to be left in place and thoroughly grouted over. They hold tiles in place without compressing to create consistently even grout lines. They're plastic also so they don't perish. Many thanks 👍

You do know that a flexible adhesive doesn’t bend. It’s polymer additions allow it to stick to vitreous surfaces not to flex with a moving floor.

Are them electric heat mats worth it? Do they use loads of electric?
@BuildWithAE
@BuildWithAE 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ryan, Electric are great in certain applications Small areas were water systems struggle to heat the space Plus application ability. Efficiency I believe most good quality electric mats are efficient. Plus you can turn them on and off for a shorter window of heat time because the heat transfer time is quick than water. Big areas we always use water systems Hope this helps All the best Tony

Ryan Fortune Hi Ryan Use a qualified electrician to do the work. Connections also to check once you have laid the mat system to make sure you haven’t damaged it laying it. Always follow manufacturing guidelines also speak to there technical if you need further advice, and yes electrical can sometimes be easier depending on the application. Thanks Tony

You have more 'British' cowboy builders compared to your Easter European counterparts. These guys are an exception, not many about. I had one Easter European tiler do some work for me, he did a proper job compared to an English guy I had work done from before. Moral of story, don't paint everyone with the same brush.
