@@FocusedLucas HI Pigmie, a note on musicality. You are counting one and three early consistantly, two and four are roughtly in time. Tighten it up and you will feel the difference, simple things count. Also it is good to count the rhythm of the 'lift' which precedes the kick as this will help you feel the rhythm in your body better. This is a nice tutorial, the method is sound, the implementation is a work in progress, for everyone.

Man, I tried to learn this step almost two decades ago on my own but could never get it despite knowing how to dance. I had friends who knew how to do it, but it didn't click with me. Still feels a little awkard, especially with the extra shuffle, but I'm getting it now...especially with that first kick step. Thank you!

Soooo..... I am absolutely going to use your breakdown method to teach the hip-twist! We have 14 kids in a traditional studio of 450+ kids. Our breakin class is the only class where boys dominate in the studio. Very fine teaching...the slow-mo, but with real style makes it so much easier to work on our style. thank you! Lot's of little gems in this..."It doesn't have to always hit on the 1's and the &'s".

Nice work Pigmie! Love how you broke everything down and pointed out the important stuff. Definitely gonna share this with my friends who need help with this move. Keep on rockin'!

The process was slow and intuitive at the beginning, but when you got to the full step it went a little too fast. Slower counts and better mirror visuals would have helped a little more. Thank you for your time and tutorial!!!

Nice tutorial ! It's a good thing to break down this move and focus on doing it on the beat, I remember I had a hard time getting used to that move ! Also what I found useful when learning this move is to try to make wide circular movements with your leg, one when twisting and one when winding up, it really adds to the esthetic of the movement and helps making it more clean.

so was i just getting told im doing it "wrong" for no reason? i do a slight shuffle back every time i kick but apparently that foot should just twist in place without the shuffle. does it actually matter or is this just someone who learnt it different and believes they know it right because they do it different? i was told the shuffle is completely wrong and looks wack.
