I live in the UK and haven't ridden for 30 years, but found your video fascinating, and although you said he's not broken great, your ability to control him looks effortless, including you/him backing up. I didn't know what a cutting horse was until an hour ago, but really interesting and a great teaching method.

Thanks again Larry for another great training video! You are always so clear with your instructions, and try and keep it simple enough that hopefully we will be able to follow it and teach it to our horse. I know watching many times helps us pick up more and more of what you are teaching and is key to whether or not we can get the same kind of results you get.

+Becky Hall Hi Becky, Thank you for the kind words. Glad you liked the video. Be sure to watch the next two cutting horse videos in this series. In video #2, I work an intermediate horse and in video #3, I work an advanced horse.

Larry, great demo on starting a horse on the flag. I don't think you can emphasize enough how important it is to start and stay SLOW in the beginning, speed it up to early and All you do is loose the feet, the mind, and the confidence. The speed will come when the repetition and consistency build the foundation for the confidence to do it the way the ride has taught. Thanks for sharing your talent and training experience, Dave

Hi Larry; I started watching your training methods when I adopted my Mustang (6 yrs. ago). I got him with the intent to do penning on him, but his interest in arena work is pretty low. We've done a lot of trail riding, a couple of obstacle courses and attended a sorting clinic. I attended my first team penning competition last night, and I really loved the excitement and the courage and fast paced sport. I am going to try my Mustang on this sport just to have something different to do. He's not afraid of cattle, but he does get aggravated at them when they don't move, so reaches out and bites them/at them. Maybe with this game he'll be too busy to think about that. Thank you sharing with us, and telling us what that machine is called--I couldn't remember. Thank you!

Hi Cathy, good to hear from you. Yes, working sour cattle that won't move away from your horse, causes the horse to respond with unwanted aggressiveness. In a ranch sorting or team penning horse, it's not a real big problem because it's a timed event and the horse isn't being judged. However, that behavior in a competition cutting horse is a very serious matter. Good luck.

Great job Larry - you are awesome. I have a Color Me Smart gelding who loves the mechanical cow. Don't have the ultima just the basic Cow Trac. Have a own son of Custom Chrome who's learning slowly to like it. Thank you for work! If you are ever in the wilds of Eastern Oregon let me know. Would love to have you come to our barn.

Mr. Trocha, You emphasized keeping the colt parallel to the cow. Would that be different on a reined cow horse? Thanks!
@ltrocha9 жыл бұрын
+Allyssa Dudley Hi Allyssa. No, it would be the same. The only difference is you also have to teach a reined cow horse to also circle a cow after you take it down the fence.
