She's such a good girl. I love how she's learning quickly. I wanna scoop her up and give her hugs. Nicely done, Garrett!

this has to be one of the best educational videos on the internet. How does this not have like 1M views. Great job sir. Love this. Would you say this would work for any breed?

What goes on inside the house at night time when training is done for the day? What does the routine look like? Im on day 2 with my 6 month old shepherd.

When it’s the best time of day. I got 5 1/2 months female German Shepherd I just started to training her 2 day ago

I'm not sure what your question is. Best time to train a dog is whenever you have time to train the dog and they're hungry. If you're asking what age then my answer always is the younger the better but 5 and 1/2 months is a perfect time to start

Every meal is training time(hand feed)... Food drive kicks in/willing to work/learn .. Helped out obedience training tremendously.. 10-15 mins per session

Your techniques work. My high energy puppy reacts to hand gestures better than anything. My puppy chews on everything and play bites. Is this something she will grow out of? She also lunges at people and animals while out on her daily walk, I have got to get that under control. Oh, my dog says thank you for training daddy.

Love your videos! About to get a 6 month old German Shepherd pit bull mix. She look nothing like pit, all shepard. My quest is, how often should I try to train her? Also only before feeding or after feeding her? Thank you.
@AmericanStandardK93 жыл бұрын
You train her when you feed her. Feeding is training time. Training time is feeding time.

when you say the earlier the better to start training and follow with 5 1/2 months is perfect. Does that mean starting my 3 month working line male GSD now is better than at 5 1/2 months or a bit early. I am doing loads of environmental socialization. I am also curious as to the expectations at an earlier age. Hadley and you are a high bar. My guy has high prey drive, loves the flirt pole, ball, and Tug. Not great yet with outing any of his possessions but just stubborn. Attacking my legs with a very controlled bite ie. not broken skin. I can lure him to sit, place on cot and down and usually come but I think the food value is an issue. Watched your working dog video as well as this series. Excellent stuff. Reminds me of Micheal Ellis. My male GSD is from Von Haus Gill. I thought you may know of Al Gill as you both do a lot of law enforcement training with GS. Keep up the awesome videos. They are very helpful.

Me reminding you of Michael Ellis is a huge compliment. He's great. Pet dogs need to be trained from day 1 with a lot of control work, obedience, teaching right from wrong and slowing them way down. Working dogs, police dogs or hunting dogs need more of that wild streak and less control work. We don't typically teach obedience to police dogs until 12 months or so. They only know bite work with no outs. We build them up before shaping them or trimming the fat so to speak. Depends what you want the final product to be and what you're starting with. If you want a very obedient, handler focused, handler dependent dog start them young. If you want them to be very independent wait longer. Or find a balance in the middle. Too much control work too soon can or might lead to handler dependence. It also depends when, if and how you introduce compulsion and pressure and if you're teaching with luring or free shaping. Many variables that will add up to affect the final product

Do you do the training before the normal time he would feed her? I ask because I am assuming you are giving her dog food kibble. Thanks for the great videos.

They eat only during training

My wife and I just rescued a 7 month old Sheppard. She was malnurshied and underweight (skin and bones, literally). We had her for 4 days now. Our mind thought is bring her up to weight and then start training her. She's not used to eating and at this point we are finding that food is not much of an incentive yet. What would you recommend we do? Thank you for the valuable content you are sharing.

@@robnj4 You're welcome. Check this video out of a working line GSD. It's in my video playlist Chase the GSD. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpqxhWBplqaHZ80 Easiest way to tell is the coloring and the slope on the back. Flat back, big head, darker gray and black coloring is usually working line. Sloped back, thinner head, red and tan coloring is usually American show line or American companion dog aka not a working line dog. There are breeders who mix the two lines, or work their show lines or show their working lines. So, there's everything in between also. Not just the two extremes.

@@AmericanStandardK9 yeah thanks i watched that video too..that dog is amazing.. i've been trying to research a lot and am starting to understand the differences...for some reason i seem to be drawn more to the working line...like this dog for example but i've never owned a GSD and am trying to gage whether or not a working line GSD is too much for me to handle. I'm in touch with a breeder who breeds Western German show line and idk if im just getting too caught up in it or not but this other lady who breeds GSD has working/czech lines that are so gorgeous...dk what to do haha
