Considering they are fraternal twins, the identical features between them physically is the animated versions unrealistic flair of their connection. Any way this is an adaptation, and similar people aren’t going to pop up out of nowhere perfectly fit for the role
@HybridMiranda11 сағат бұрын
Non-identical twins do exist... and so what if they're different? The casting was done based on the core of the characters and how they acted, not necessarily how they looked. Stories are allowed to be retold in slightly different ways... instead of criticizing it, why not approach it with optimism and excitement? It's not as if the original HTTYD movie will suddenly *poof* out of existence when this one is published, you can still go back and enjoy it.
@nobodynamedmatlock11 сағат бұрын
@@HybridMiranda Fair points but it's also fair to be questioning and skeptical as far too many movies in recent years have changed things to check boxes and push agendas instead of enhancing the story. I hope for the best from this movie and everyone who enjoyed the originals, but we'll see what changes are made and if they are for better or worse.

The first 10 minutes of How to Train Your Dragon are a masterclass in storytelling, perfectly aligning with Araki’s Golden Way, where every detail serves the narrative. Hiccup’s narration introduces Berk as a cold, isolated Viking village: "This is Berk. It's twelve days north of hopeless, and a few degrees south of freezing to death. It’s located solidly on the meridian of misery. My village. In a word: sturdy." The harsh environment is reflected in the people, their culture, and even their appearance. The Viking look, with fair skin and sturdy builds, fits the harsh, northern climate they live in. Skin color, like every other detail, is a story in itself, rooted in the environment and culture of Berk. Adding a Black character without explanation would break this consistency and undermine the world-building. The Golden Way teaches that every element in a character’s design should serve the story, and in Berk’s case, a diverse character without a narrative reason feels forced and out of place. Wakanda is similar to Berk when it comes to this and i can guarantee that a white tchalla would look very out of place
@apersonwhomayormaynotexist98684 сағат бұрын
wowwww that's so many words trying to pretend you have a justification for not wanting a black person in your movie. Love, there's nothing about being white that makes someone more equipped to deal with a cold or harsh environment and having a black character doesn't affect the worldbuilding at all. This is a movie about dragons, if you can believe that there are dragons but not a black viking then you have problems Them being white has literally nothing to do with the worldbuilding

As much as I’m not that excited for this remake, the one thing that kinda does make me a bit happy is that the same director of the trilogy actually worked on this. Maybe just maybe this movie can turn out good. Yea it will not top the original but hopefully it’s decently good. My only worry is that it could be possible that Dreamworks will start to forget all about animation and focus way more on making live action remakes based on their animated movies just like Disney, and I don’t want that to happen. Animation is so much more than just “kids stuff”, it’s a beautiful form of art and i really hope dreamworks doesn’t stop making new animated movies after this httyd remake.
