The theory of how hiccup lost his leg is interesting. As he was falling, toothless had to grab whatever he could to save him. And doing that he ended up grabbing his leg and pulling him close to save him which ended up removing his leg. I actually really like that because not only are they both missing a part on their left side, they both caused each other to lose that part giving another reason why their bond is so strong and they always stay together.

Agreed. Especially what him saying that meant to them. Names like Ericson or Peterson mean, literally, son of Peter or son of Eric. So Hiccup could have been Hiccup Stoickson. But when he said he wasn't his son, that means he can never claim his Father's lineage which not only is a huge loss in this life, but when he dies, he would not be welcome at the table of his ancestors in Valhalla. It would, also, mean for Stoick that he has no heir and his own bloodline dies with him. It was, quite literally, one of the worst things he could have said to Hiccup.

Random fact: Toothless' fastest ever recorded speed was approximately 950+mph, measured by the supersonic "mach cone" surrounding his body in the short clip. That is faster than a modern fighter jet's cruising speed. Also, Toothless is the only dragon in the movie to use an acetylene-oxygen charge to create 'plasma blasts' rather than the red fire other dragons use. For reference, plasma can reach up to 17,500° fahrenheit, whereas the red flames used with the monstrous nightmares tops out at a little under 2,000°

Just so you know, there are actually a couple TV series and TV shorts that happen canonically between this and How To Train Your Dragon 2. I'd personally recommend watching through those as well, even if you do so after the second movie. Most of them (especially the series) are still worth a watch. Also, reaction videos to them are sadly rare since most reactors don't pay attention to them, choosing to only do the movies, so it would be great to see you guys react to them! They are as follows: Legend of the Boneknapper (1 half-length episode) Book of Dragons (1 half-length episode) Gift of the Night Fury (1 full-length episode/Christmas special) Dragons: Riders of Berk (20 Episode Season) Dragons: Defenders of Berk (Season 2 of "Riders of Berk") Dawn of the Dragon Riders (1 episode special) Dragons: Race to the Edge (6 seasons of 13 episodes) Most people end up watching the second movie before these, but the three series explain the big gap between the first and second movies. Out of the three series, I'd say Race to the Edge has the most effects that you can directly see the effects of in the 2nd movie, but they all have at least some impact.

You know, i used to hate reaction videos. But then i saw this video's thumbnail and i was like 'screw it'. One of the best decisions ive ever made i love seeing how you guys react to things i enjoy (its even better when ive already watched the whole show so i know a plot twist before you get to it).
@CyberN-76605 ай бұрын
This is just my opinion, but the reason why lots of people (including me) enjoy watching reaction videos is probably because it's like watching your favourite films/videos with your friends. After watching something you liked, you'd probably want to see other people's reactions too, just to see if they might also relate with you when you first reacted to something :D

Just to let you know the dragons from the school that Hiccup’s friends tame all get names in the cartoon series. The Deadly Nadder the blue one is Stormfly The Gronckle, the big brown one is Meatlug and she’s a girl. The Hideous Zippleback the 2 headed one is Barf and Belch, Barf breathes gas and Belch lights it And the Monstrous Nightmare the red one is Hookfang

Answers to your questions/comments made in the video: - Yep, there are three movies ❤❤❤ 1st came out in 2010, 2nd in 2014, and 3rd in 2019. There are also a couple of tv series - Riders of Berk (set not long after the first movie), Defenders of Berk (set just after Riders, essentially season 2 of Riders of Berk), and Race to the Edge (set a few years after Riders and Defenders/in the couple of years before movie 2). And then there are the short movies - Gift of the Night Fury (set just after movie 1), Legend of the Boneknapper Dragon (same as GOTNF), Book of Dragons (same again), Dawn of the Dragon Racers (set just before Race to the Edge), and Homecoming (set . . . sort of during the 3rd movie, but I can't say more without spoiling so you'll have to wait to find out lol). I know you probably won't want to watch them all, I get that it's a lot to get through; however, I do recommend at least watching Gift of the Night Fury, as the events are (briefly) referenced in the 3rd movie, and IMO it's the best of the short movies. - I definitely agree with the assertion that this is one of the best animated movie series ever (can you tell I'm a big fan lol). - I can't believe I never heard about the 2025 movie omg, you confused me when you read that out haha. So it's not HTTYD 4, it's a live action remake (but being made by the original movies' director, Dean DeBlois). Aaaand now I'm excited XD it better be good. - "Ope, that's a big boy!" Actually, that's a big girl 😊 she gets named Meatlug. - I adore Toothless' expressions and gestures, like when he motions for Hiccup to eat his half of the fish 😂 - It's a little . . . abstract, lol, but Toothless actually drew a picture of Hiccup 😊 24:51 on the bottom left you have Hiccup's mouth, open in an O shape, then diagonally you have his nose, and his eyes, and floppy hair around it all. - Yeah, that's a little trend with Toothless in this movie. If you wrong Hiccup, he will hold a grudge like there's no tomorrow; but if you apologise, then he's like "okay, we're cool now" XD - I believe the shadow we saw in the fog was a Monstrous Nightmare, not the queen. - It's never explicitly said exactly how Hiccup lost his leg. The most likely reasons are a) as you said, it was burned beyond saving in the fire from the explosion, b) either when they hit the Red Death's tail or when they hit the ground, his leg was severely crushed and was un-saveable, or c) a favourite among the fan theories, while Toothless was trying to save Hiccup as they fell, he couldn't quite reach him in order to protectively wrap himself around him, and he had to bite Hiccup's leg to bring him closer.

So the scene where Stoick says to Hiccup, "You're not my son," was basically Stoick disowning his own child, and i believe in viking culture that's also banishing the child from the village so everytime I hear Stoick say that I feel bad for Hiccup

Viking longboats are famous for having a very shallow draft, which means they can raid in surprisingly shallow water. In 845 a Viking fleet sailed up the Seine and laid siege to Paris. PARIS! Who expects to get raided by seagoing bandits in Paris?!?!?

I remember being really into the different dragon types and the biology of them when I was a kid.
@zandylovesrisk9 ай бұрын
So when they show the Vikings sailing into the fog, it wasn't the Green Death(queen bee) dragon that attacked them but a scattering of the ones that had been raiding their village. They were protecting the hive. The reason they were able to finally get to the Nest was because Stoick was following Toothless' movements as he knew the path to get there. it is theorized Toothless bit Hiccup's foot off in his attempt to grab and protect him. Also Toothless didn't unveil Hiccup right away to make sure the vikings fears of dragons was gone. See that Stoick didn't try to attack Toothless or anything once he believed he died.

This movie was one of my absolute favorites growing up. I still remember playing the soundtrack on constant repeat just to get through late nights writing college papers. Unfortunately, such occupation of my time meant that I was never able to watch the third one when it came out. And now I don't know where I can find it without renting or even buying it.

So Hiccup is his name, and he's named that because he is the smallest person. That's also not just a name for people, it's also used for anything else that is considered the weakest and smallest. Like the runt of a pack of wolves could be called Hiccup.

Love your reaction to this movie. It is a favorite I still like to rewatch every so often. One of the things about when Hiccup and Toothless grabbed Astrid and flew her around to shake her up. Consider that flying, gliding, bungee jumping, and skydiving are kind of taken for granted by us. But for someone back then, they probably spent their whole lives never being more than a few feet off of the ground. The highest anyone of them, probably, ever got was climbing a tree. So for them to be flying high enough to not only touch the clouds, but to be able to look DOWN upon a mountain would be unthinkable and terrifying. For one of them, that would, likely, be like seeing from the vantage point of the Gods.
