How to transfer a vehicle from one Garmin GPS to another

Yes, the simplest way to do with would be to use the Garmin Express software: www.garmin.com/en-US/software/express/windows/. There is a dedicated transfer option.

I had tried that going from a Garmin nuvi 55 to a Garmin Drive 52, and it is there but it is greeted out or doesn’t allow for the transfer. Thank you

There is another way to do it. It would still involve connecting it to your computer. But then accessing it as if it was a flash drive to pull the save files from the old GPS and then moving them to the new GPS.

you can't copy another garmin and use on a new one,but both can have the same exact info on them?

Thanks for this very helpful video. Do you know if I can take a custom voice from my Garmin Nuvi 255 and use it on my Drive Assist 51? I Copied files and pasted them, but it's not showing up for me. I really want my K.I.T.T. voice back. 😫

It should be the same process as moving the cars. I have never tried myself and no longer have my old GPS to test.

I bought the West/East Africa Maps as a download. Actually wanted to buy on a micro SD but it wasn’t available. I’m trying to remove them from a Nuvi 57 (I believe thats the model) to a Nuvi 3580. Any known way to do this. Paying over $100 for a copy of the same maps I bought is ludicrous. This is why I wanted the micro SD so I could just add them to the newer GPS. Any help would be appreciated.

Much like you can move your cars over you can move your maps too but you would need to access the GPSs internal storage, like I did at 2:48.

Garmin makes this much simpler now if yo uconnect the gps to your computer and use the Garmin express program you can backup everything from the old GPS and import it into the new one.

This method requires that the old GPS can at least be plugged into a computer and read. If it can not be you will not be able to do this.

I tried this with my MacBook Air to transfer the addresses and lat/ long coordinates from my old Garmin Nüvi 68 to my new Garmin Drive Smart 55. It didn't work. Only the info for the Nüvi 68 showed up, and I hit the Copy button. But when I plugged in the Drive Smart 55, nothing came up on screen. So I turned on my HP Windows 10 system. It showed up like you indicated, only after I Pasted to the Drive Smart 55, I got a warning message that the Nüvi 68 device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected." Then I got another message: "Cannot Copy Item." So no old addresses were transferred. It can take hours trying to type in the old information to a new Garmin.

How about Custom Voices? I've had Homer Simpson for YEARS and just love him! BUT I did the above and the Vehicle transfered but not his voice? any suggetions? OLD Garmin Nuvi2595 NEW Garmin drivesmart 65

Similar to moving vehicles if you plug in your GPS open it as if it was a flash drive go to the internal storage there should be a folder called voices which can be copied on to a new GPS.
