What exactly was the advantage of removing physical Sim card and going with eSIM? If your phone broke and doesn’t power on, how exactly do swap phones without having to go to a store or contact Customer Care? It’s like the phone manufacturers went out of their way to create extra work that wasn’t needed before. Maybe eSIM cloning is more difficult than physical Sim cloning, but I doubt it.

FYI, I just did this with T Mobile, transfering esim from Galaxy to iPhone. For T Mobile, at least, they changed the method to where there is no QR Code, they get your EID number and do something to activate the esim on the new phone.

T-Mobile does allow for eSIM transfers on Galaxy devices (but we don’t have enough information on whether they can be transferred across different operating systems).

When you scan a QR code eSIM it is one time use, and it will not activate on another device. I work for AT&T. We aren’t allowed to touch our own accounts at all so if I want to swap I have to call too and I really don’t want to. I was hoping someone knew a way without contacting. :/

I recently switched to ESim and I have a Samsung phone which I would like to potentially use. I'm currently using the iPhone 15 and I wonder whether my network provider would email me the details of the ESim as opposed to a QR code, as I am visually impaired and QR codes are not great for those who can't see LOL. Not at this time. Right now, T-Mobile is the only US carrier that allows eSIM transfers.

@@kelvindeanjust fyi AT&T does support eSIM. Source: I work for AT&T. Verizon also supports eSIM. Every major US carrier supports it and remote activation service is available where no QR code is required. It just pushes to the device and you get a notification from Settings to Finish setting up cellular. Only issue is call would still be required or in person at the store. That’s what I really wanted to avoid. Even I dread calling my own company’s support line.

@PortableMediaReviews Well, it's finally available on AT&T! (As a reminder, your phone will temporarily disconnect from the AT&T network during the conversion process. After your SIM card is converted to an eSIM, you won't need your physical SIM card anymore. But beware, any contacts or messages saved on your SIM card won't be transferred to your eSIM, so copy them to your phone before you proceed.)

Theorically, you can use the QR code again, but you have to delete your esim on your main phone, then you scan it again on your new phone
