I appreciate this channel and this Sister so much! One of the first people I found 5 years ago making my transition from 25 plus years in music to film making. I specifically sought out other creatives of color to learn shooting and lighting our skin. I've learned so much and have been so inspired by Brittney's own personal journey through this industry. I wrote and I'm shooting my first projects after the holiday season is over early next year. Continued success , I'll keep tuning in for knowledge and inspiration.

@@BrittneyJanae the delivery & expression behind the experiences that you present to us for food-for-thought, to better our own routines & skills, it's all masterful on Pharrell Williams levels of production and action - especially when we get the Behind The Scenes breakdown & interviews, as with the previous episode/upload on-set it takes me back to watching Mr. Rogers episodes in the 90's, when he would take the views other people's workplaces and break down the steps of things being made, or the processes behind services being possible - and it's appreciated that you take the approaches & extra steps that you do for all of us that're interested in this path as careers and/or hobbies initially, i was putting all that into a rhyming scheme, 'cause tonight was Poetry Slam night in a Discord server, and the vibes hadn't dissipated from me yet 😂apologies i getting carried away, arbitrarily

Love this Brittney! Thanks for all the insight. I’m used to working solo on corporate shoots so having some knowledge about film sets is something I’m lacking. This was very helpful. It is interesting that some DPs don't operate. I'm with Deakins when he says operating is the best job on set. I hope to still be operating when I'm 70. An Arri will be as big and light as a Rubiks cube by then. Thanks for the experience!
@BrittneyJanaeАй бұрын
I think the more you get into being a DP, the more you understand why at times you can’t operate. If you have a two or 3 camera film there is no reason you should be operating at all! But if it’s a one camera project of course I love being able to operate!

@BrittneyJanaeАй бұрын
To be honest they both have their pros and cons! I love being able to bring someone else’s vision to life and work with a team and most times my friends to do it. Collaboration is really fun even though it can get a little stressful at times. But being in charge of a team, working with production designers and etc, it’s such a dope experience when you see how everyone played their part. With solo filmmaking, I don’t get to have as many resources as I do when I’m DPing. I have to do it all so sometimes that can be tiring. But to be able to create what I want is Freeing! It can get a little lonely at times but I’m building my own brand and that’s amazing!
@11.PierreАй бұрын
@@BrittneyJanae I feel it, that's real! I've heard that from others as well, the collaboration and truly being able to learn from others. I think I never had a strong passion for creating others visions but I also started out doing my own stuff. So it's kinda stuck with me but as I expand and want to do it bigger, that collaboration is handy! It's challenging on the indie side, I'm putting together my film now and it would be 10x easier with others from being on set but**** I feel im lucky, I know how to DP but teaching others can be annoying at times lol. I think it's apart of the process though and have been pushing forward and after a few shorts, im like yup lets cook now! I do find it hardest creating when I'm solo, like outside of the KZbin studio lol. like going in public and creating a video, I give kudos to those who do it. my mind be blank!

What about people who want to be solo filmmakers because they want to maintain complete independence and leverage the skill for some other venture? Thinking about hobbies you want to document more professionally.
