Thank you for this video! The house across the street was torn down and I really liked the grapes. I couldn't get anyone to dig it up for me. I believe that after watching this video I can dig it up myself. Please take care!

One of my concerns is the roots! I have a vine that has been in the same spot for 42 years and is really too close to the neighbours fence hence the need for moving. Having dug around it is clear that there are several roots a couple of feet long. It does bother me a little cutting the roots that short but there may be no choice. Best regards!

I have a few that I would like to move now....end of June. Can it be done or how much damage will happen to the vines? They do have fruit on them now but I will sacrifice the fruit to take the vine with me.

Hopefully I can get an answer from someone? I’ve bought a property and have a couple grape vines growing in with weeds. They seem to be quite healthy and I would like to transplant them. I’m in North America is the best time fall or spring to do this?
@yourmomwearscombatboots79055 күн бұрын
@Nik85578 hi, fall, before the ground freezes ias a good time to transplant, as is early spring before active growth begins. Hope this helps 😊

Hello - Thank you for the video. I have a mature concord grape vine in my yard and am selling my house (the vine was planted in 2011.) If the house sells this summer, I"ll have to move the grapevine before we close which will most likely be at the end of August / beginning of September. Is there any way I can move the vine during that time? and how would i do this?

Could you go into more detail on how to encourage bud growth on the trunk. I was given some mature vines that were on a 4 arm kniffin system but I'm using mid-wire cordon. I have the cordon secure well enough to get it through this season but I'd really like to shorten these vines up and lay new cordon at the right height next season. I'm in the US and things are coming out of dormancy.. I should have addressed it over winter but I forgot they were heeled into my compost pile out back.

I need to move two vines here in Arizona . We have picked the fruit but it's basically the start of summer. I just can't keep them in the location they are in. Do you think this approach is still possible for me?

Is February (right before the spring in the northern hemisphere) still a good time to move them and expect grapes by the summer?? I’m so nervous.. these vines have been planted in the same spot since the 40s, theyre old..

The grape I want to move is many decades old I believe. The trunk of the vine is apx 6" in diameter. Should I still attempt it the same way? We dont want to kill it, but it needs to move. Thanks

Hello Thank you for the video. I need to move my vineyard plants; to another house. they are on the racks, 6.5 ft vertically and 6 ft horizontally up on the rack. Do I still need to cut all the branches down at the base of the trunk. Or can I leave a few main branches at desired lengt? Ty

I have a question - I have a giant concord grape vine - it has a "V" close to the ground and branches off on a trellis that is 8'x20' like a green roof. Its about 8 years old. Last season I had mostly green leaves and not much grapes. My cousin told me to cut one of the branches off of the 'V' - so before I do that, I thought I would ask your opinion. I can send a pic if you like.

Great video! My understanding is that grapes will probably backbud if cut back to old wood. Is this true?
@ayatti26 Жыл бұрын
Yes, there are always dormant buds along the vine. Once the leads cut, the next bud down is stimulated to grow.

How long does it take before we can expect to harvest grapes again after transplanting our vine?
@onyangookuku48866 жыл бұрын
There are many factors in how to grow grapes at home from seeds. One resource I found which successfully combines these is the Grape grower folio (check it out on google) without a doubt the no.1 blueprint that I've heard of. Check out all the incredible info. @Cindy Zellner

Water the roots straight after planting? I wanted to move a long established one, complete with greenhouse from the house next door our son has bought and thought it might not be movable. It is more like a big lump on the surface than like a tree trunk. Now well into May with summer on the way with leaves and shoots appearing everywhere right now so looks like I need to leave in place when moving the greenhouse and transplant near year end. Going onto a paved patio, I am guessing it cannot be placed in a large container near the ground so will have to lift a slab and create a pocket of soil. Thanks for the demo.
