Thanks Joe from Pennsylvania. Very helpful, as I am going to be relocating a few plants in our garden. Happy 2024!

Well that makes sense! Our old house had a nice raspberry patch and they were situated right on the the upper part of were our outlet was for our sump pump about 30’ from the house! That makes a lot of sense now Joe . Thanks!

Good job! I have moved raspberries. They are nice and hardy here and we have short, cool summers. 👍😉🇨🇦

What usually happens with Berry plants is they grow themselves out of production! We did Blackberries commercially and changed plants out every 6 years! Be sure to check soil PH! Blue Berries like acidic soil low PH. We planted Blackberries 4 feet apart in the row! Wouldn’t hurt to feed em now and then! Great video! You’ve got perfect soil for drainage

That was my experience with my little raspberry patch. I had to vigorously manage them or they would quickly become a useless bramble. I also thinned my plants, after a couple of years, to about 5 to 6 feet apart to manage the pruning out of old canes. I also discovered that 2 plants per person (a total of 10) was more than enough for my family and plenty to give away to friends with lot of jelly and syrup on the side.

I have an old abandoned railroad track by my house and the rasberries grow like crazy, I remember picking them and my grandmother making pies and cobblers. Eventually they started disappearing so I went down and dug up 5 or 6 plants and transplanted them in my garden. Those things took off like crazy. I had to mow some down to keep them from taking over the whole garden.

Raspberries are awesome. they just grow and are hard to kill. When they start failing, mow the whole patch down and let them all come back and they will be fine.

Lovingly suggest utilizing an auger for planting, Sorry to see the hobby farm property go, but pandemic real estate pricing is a sellers dream-especially when you are not a buyer. I hope the family did well. The other side is less property to care for, Louisiana home in great shape, start dreaming about the farmhouse. You and Melissa are great collaborators. I would love to see that vision board!!

Should you have put some kind of fertilizer in the hole before planting to wake up the roots?
@JoeandZachSurvival3 жыл бұрын
Totally not needed. You might actually burn the roots doing that. They are raspberries, just plant them and they will grow.

Lmao, I love your responses to some of these Joe but that's probably not how you got 220k subscribers. I've been watching for a longtime and it's been awhile since I've seen you this fired up.........and over raspberries.

Is your soil acidic enough for blue berries? I'm struggling with mine. I live south of the metro and I'm wondering what you do to get a decent yield. By the way, I love the channel and look forward to every one!

Great question. We have many wild blueberries that do awesome but have small berries like they usually do. The ones we planted I am not sure if they made it or not through the winter. Things have not leafed out yet. Melissa bought 2 more plants just a few days ago that need to be planted. So far I have not mastered blueberries...... but stay tuned, I will.

Hey Joe, did you mention the raspberries to the person that bought the property? It could cause you a problem.
@Kat-pg5ye3 жыл бұрын
Thats exactly what I was thinking. If I bought a property that had an established raspberry patch I would expect it to be a part of the sale of the property. I would not expect the previous owner to come dig it out after the sale was finalized.
@JoeandZachSurvival3 жыл бұрын
Hahahahaha. OMG you people are going crazy. Do you think I am that much of a dumb ass? if so, leave the channel. I am sometimes surprised that I don't have to tell you when I am going to use the bathroom. I am very happy that you are all getting pissed off when you have absolutely no idea about any of the details about the sale. Haha. The closing was TODAY. When it was sold the property had a foot of snow on the ground. The new owners are not going to garden, they are going to plant grass seed in that whole area. happy now??? Fucking bunch of shit.

Believe me, those raspberries at the Hobby Farm will all grow back. I tried to get rid of raspberries in a raised garden bed. That was 3 years ago. I dug all the roots I could find. They are still coming back.
@pamelaanderson42113 жыл бұрын
@charliebucket if you don’t like Joes videos why do you watch them? Insulting people only makes you look bad. Find something to watch that makes you happy. As for me I enjoy and learn a lot from Joe and Melissa.

How and when do you move raspberry plants if you know the soil (if you want to call it ) is rocks. I tried to move a few. They died.

Hey joe do you have get new bales for each year you do the garden
@JoeandZachSurvival3 жыл бұрын
Not all of them but the loose bales from last year did not hold up well. I am picking up 40 or 50 bales I think this Sunday. More than we need in that garden but I want to have plenty.

Oh lordy, all the comments about Joe taking off with those raspberry plants! Give the guy some credit, if anyone knows what’s what it is Joe, more power to you Joe and I hope you get a bumper crop from those plants.
@audsmithl3 жыл бұрын
I know, right?! I’ll bet Joe never thought when he posted this video, he’d be accused of being a plant thief. Give the guy a break and the benefit of the doubt for cripes sake! I’m sure he’d never do anything to intentionally screw somebody over. Let’s just enjoy his video content and stop with the accusations and negativity.

@JoeandZachSurvival3 жыл бұрын
People put so much time into making the perfect patch and doing that you can get by with just a few plants. My take on it, is plant a bunch and let them fend for themselves and you will get just as many berries. Like you are finding, they are hard to kill off. Lol.
@audsmithl3 жыл бұрын
I'm already imagining what Melissa is gonna do with all those raspberries. Cobblers and jams and canning perhaps?
@timd84703 жыл бұрын
I'm assuming you had permission to remove those plants. Once the closing is complete, those plants belong to the new owner, unless specifically addressed in the contract. Also, we plant raspberries 8-10 feet between rows so you can get access when they are mature.
@JoeandZachSurvival3 жыл бұрын
