Just got back from Nigeria November 21st, went with expired passport, it expired 2015, at MMA there is a big banner with a female immigration officer picture stating "expired Nigerian passports welcome", had zero issues and I returned back to the United Kingdom on the same expired passport with my British passport, at immigration I just said there were no avaliable capture date for a new passport. The immigration officers were fantastic 👌

Folks, Citizens of any country have a right of return - expired passport or not. You cannot be turned away from your country of citizenship even with an expired passport.

I travelled to Nigeria with my expired Nigeria passport 2 months ago and had zero issues with immigration. I gave the immigration officer my valid Canadian passport and told him my Nigeria passport was expired, he said “ok np” and proceed to ask if I’d be renewing my passport in Nigeria and which I told him “no” he handed my passport back to me and said “ welcome back chairman, wetin u bring for us now” I smile, and gave him the 4K(naira) I had on me and I was cleared 🤷🏾😂

Why did you give him 4k? We need to discourage bribery with these government officials. In this case, you actually gave him 4k for not harassing you even though you did nothing wrong. You should have given the 4k to someone who is truly in need and who really deserves it!

@birdman. Nice one sir. Thanks for this. I'm not judging you or being sanctimonious. But please let us all collectively extinguish this culture of giving money to paid officials even if the intent is genuine and unforced like in your case. You probably wouldn't do this to a TSA officer I the States or an immigration officer in Canada. Yes 4k is small money but you've given him a tip while he's rendering a service paid by tax payers. It's wrong and he will always look forward to it from others. Invariably, he'll either compromise his service or frustrate other passengers when such a pipe of causal gifts dry out. I just want to to leave this world I a way the black race(Africa) can at least be on the right trajectory of redemption. Bet you'll be glad to see Nigeria exhibiting a semblance at least of Canada in public discipline in our old age: a decent nation bequeathed to our kids and grandkids so they can be back from Canada and other places and be PROUD of law and order here. If I come across as judgemental, accept my apologies. It's my sincere thoughts on the 4k.

Does anyone know who to contact with NIN error issues? I went through hell two years when visited Nigeria trying to renew my Nigerian Passport. There is an error in my NIN that was already populated for me using my BVN I guess. I went through the process, paid all fees for correction and even recaptured at Alausa. Up till now, it appears nothing is done and my Passport renewal is stopped at Ikoyi Passport office after paying all fees and capturing. I have sent a million emails to NIMC. I guess they get lost in the zoo. I will appreciate any clue. Thanks my people. One love from California!

Hi, yeah I still traveled with an expired passport on the 27th of April and there were no issues both in the UK and Nigeria. The issue now is with NIN for renewal, after capturing there’s no network and Iv paid over 200k for fast track. I don’t know if I’ll be able to travel with my BRP back to the UK if it’s not out till next week.

People need to know that travelling to Nigeria with an expired passport is not a crime,it is allowed and you can renew your passport in Nigeria if the New one is not out yet when you are leaving the country you can travel back to your Base with the old one with your renewal slips.

just arrived on Sunday and had no problems at all, just showed them my receipt stating I paid for a passport renewal in London. I connected in 2 different cities (brussels and frankfurt) however i started my journey from London with my British passport and showed my Nigerian passport to show i'll be allowed in lagos when i get there.

You renewed your expired passport and if the New one is not out yet before you leave the country,you can use your old one with your renewal slips at the airport to leave the country.

@@teresiawachira1034 Spain does not accept dual nationality at least with Nigeria today, therefore if you obtain Spanish nationality you must renounce the Nigerian passport, therefore I do not have a Nigerian passport. Until today I have never had problems with the visa, I usually travel every three months and I have never had a problem until today.
